Having sharp turns and jerking motions is fine. Absolutely fine. What I am talking about not liking are the instances where I feel like one of those ball clackers kids play with. My neck snapping left and right like a whip.

Space Mountain is an indoor Mad Mouse designed by Arrow Development Company. It was designed to be rough. In the original version, the seats were designed so that each seat held two passengers. The front passenger rode between the legs of the rear passenger. If the ride wasn’t rough it would be as boring as the one in Disneyland.

I suppose so. :( I truly wouldn't want the ride to be boring, and it's not like it puts me in traction or anything. I'd just like to exit the thing without needing a back adjustment. :D

I rode it 4 times last week and thought it was so fun! I mean yeah its fast and jerky, but I thought it was smooth...like I hate wooden roller coasters, those give me headaches, but Space Mountain is just a super fast ride and I personally think it's ok and my brother and friend didn't think it was too jerky.

When the conditions of space travel come into the conversation as whatever his name is (not one I recognize or care enough to look back for) brings up how he feels it should replicate space travel as he thinks it is then I will of course rebuttle with facts on how space travel actually is. While you are calling me out on representing facts as it is then take the time and effort to call others involved out as well.

Actually if you go back and read your post, you brought up "lift off and rocket jettison". My post was specifically in response to that, and what I said was that Space Mountain isn't intended to simulate either of those things. So I agree with others who have stated that you have missed the point.

Yeah, this! I find it funny that people complain about a roller coaster being a rough ride. It is what it is intended to be. If it is too thrilling for you Its a Small World is a short walk away.

It was designed at WED by John Hench, and George McGinnis. Bill Watkins designed the track. The first two are on record saying ride quality has deteriorated since 1975.

Arrow did the track construction.

The point was missed, again. The thrill of the ride is not the issue here. It is the physical assault that occurs that is the problem. I don't want to have to worry about the pain a ride causes. They could have the ride just as, if not more so, thrilling without the a** beating. :animwink:

For me its not the bumpiness, its the incredibly sharp turns at such high speeds. Now I can really see how those would hurt people. Its not like Primeval Whirl where you go over sharp turns at slow speeds. SM really whips you around and its not really very comfortable.

Except that I don't think SM is intended to simulate those things. It's supposed to be a futuristic means of space travel. At no point in this attraction are you lifting off from a launch pad in Cape Canaveral and going into orbit. That's the part of space travel that is shakey and bumpy, not the part where you're actually in space. The entire SM adventure takes place as though you are already in space.

But yet you stated that only liftoff and jettison is is bumpy? Initially I listed those to until I pointed out that not even the part you thought was smooth would not be. Ahhh, I view the point rather clearly and it is others not comprehending. Facts in a theme park discussion hurts some feelings... or egos :king:

Space Mountain is a classic thrill ride. TDO should just ignore the doom and gloomers that have to find something to hate in everything. Like people have said, if you want a tame kiddy ride, go sit on It's a Small World. The younger people that aren't constantly complaining "ohhhh my back!" don't need to be punished because you're past your primes. The slightly rougher ride is part of the great experience of this coaster.

You people obviously have never been on any roller coasters if you think that it's really that rough. A rough roller coaster is any wooden roller coaster that will certainly shake you up 1,000 times more than at any point on Space Mountain. If you want rides that treat you like fragile babies, you have plenty of other choices.

I'm in my mid 20s and I find Space Mountain to be an uncomfortable mess. And yes, it's far from the roughest coaster I've ever been on, but that does excuse the ride. The coaster is not, contrary to some opinions in this thread, supposed to be rough. It was supposed to be a sweeping, soaring flight through space. Not a bumpy ride more akin to offroading.

The ride would still be thrilling without bouncing all over the place, and it would be a hell of a lot more fun.

I also agree that the one in Disney Land is boring and kind of sucks. This is more about people crying that more of an investment wasn't made during a refurb. But replacing something that is fun with something that is boring and tame isn't an improvement.

There are two spots in the coaster that stick out in my mind. One, being the last, largest drop near the end of the coaster right before the circling section. That part drops you , pulls you down, then slams you onto the ground level so quick and fast. If you're a man, that's gonna cause problems in your pants. The second is the unexpected corner at the end of the ride after the red tube. I feel like this corner purposely hurts people.

It is a "jerky" ride..I would have thought with the recent "refurbishment a couple years ago some improvements might have been made..Space Mountain is a draw because it is an Iconic ride...the Rock-n-Rollercoaster at DHS is a "better rollar coaster" but nowhere near as nostalgic. Id like to see Disney completely redo the tracks upgrade the visuals..dont get me wrong...Ill continue to ride it every trip I make...but bringing Space Mountain into the 21st Century certainly bears some merit

Put it away and stop the ing contest. No one is saying that we are fragile. I know what a real rollercoaster can do. I have ridden most in North America, thanks. We just make a simple comment and it is distorted into us saying that we are fragile little children that cannot handle it. LOL What a joke. I refuse to restate the point since you will simply ignore it, again. Try getting a few more posts under you before you come in with both guns blazing and end up making a fool of yourself. ;)

Tame and boring? Disneyland's is darker than MK's and is also faster. Not to mention it speeds up even more at random times.

Darker and faster makes it better? The backseat of a car is darker and faster than both of them. So it's the best? You guys are arguing preference and opinions...
