It`s new, but from what I saw on my trip it is a void which goes up into the roof, not hanging down. You can also see it above the lift hills when entering the mountain.

Trivia; it`s very near the old Earth projection location.

So is it going to be visible when you ride?

I don't know, from the few times I've been in there, I can swear it looks like a solid surface.

What they need to do is get rid of the metallic palm trees. They look they belong on the Vegas strip.

Well, if they do, I'd be happy to take them off their hands. Palm trees around my patio in the dead of winter would look fabulous.

The compare the lighter squares in the center of the roof to this position of the black square (and imagine the photo rotated 90 degrees)

That just doesn't scream smoke extraction system to me. The hole in the ceiling does, but the black square seems like it has some other purpose. All I could see it doing as part of smoke extraction is fall open, and it'd be much easier just to install simple vents.

Well, they filed the paperwork with the county for its installation months ago, so I would presume it's a go...

How about a large led display? These guys have worked with disney before for event screens :http://www.largescreenvideo.com/pages/equipment.html It's used more for outdoor applications, but a black screen generally isn't used for projection. A led screen would fit with a big black box...
