Space Mountain Heading to the Scrap Heap :)

So is there anything of substance going on here in this thread? Or is just bickering, b*******, and waving? Cuz I don't feel like finding where I left off.
I have been scanning this thread until i see 1 of 5 posters... stop read, and scroll through all the crap.

If we wave more, we could get music and new sound effects!:D

OMG... seriously. This is extremely juvenile. Please take to the adolescent thread and pad your post count there.

Sometimes....I wish I was a moderator.
Don't we all.

I'm surprised this thread hasn't been locked due to the annoying waving. This thread is about the Space Mountain refurb NOT a platform for a 15 year old and her pal trying to up their post total.

1) I never thought I would say this, but I am beginning to long for the early days of the internet when we had daily DL/UL limits. Back then you did not dare waste your precious allocation of bits on sensless, innane, posts

2) The whole thread has degenerated into two things - waving (which should be taken out the the shed and shot) and a discussion that consists of speculation about speculation about speculation. People are GUESSING what the original refurb included, then they are GUESSING that it is bing cut, and then they are GUESSING as to the reasons for the cut. Most of us cannot even provide concrete back up information as to ONE of the guesses, let alone all three.

3) Has anybody seen any work that they can report. I am interested as to what sort of equipment, if any, has been seen going into SM. It's har enough to fly things into position outside, inside, confined by the roof, it must be a great pain, I am would assume precludes any sort of refurb being done in large pre-fab sections.

Don't I get any credit for proving a point. Once again I fall on the sword and just get stepped over. Oh well, poor little me.

Anyway, thanks Sir Goofy for the double face palm. Still laughing. Funniest thread since the infamous wand fell.

At least for me.

Wish we had some fresh SM pics :lookaroun

PS- I'm limiting myself to one smiley per post......unless I don't. :zipit:

Blast off on a journey into outer space on this classic attraction. Board a sleek, rocket-shaped vehicle in the glow-in-the-dark Space Port and begin a steady climb up the 180-foot high mountain, passing the Mission Control booth and myriad pulsating lights along the way.

Once at the top, feel the wind race across your face as you are propelled through the remote blackness of the dark universe—illuminated only by shooting stars, celestial satellites, spinning black holes and shimmering costellations—during a rip-roaring rocket ride through the farthest reaches of time and space.

And because the majority of the attraction takes place in the dark, you just never know which way you are going to turn or drop!

Space Mountain includes a pumping musical score and synthezised electronic sounds of space that are sure to immerse you in your otherworldy flight.

Space Mountain Rockets

Space Mountain at Magic Kingdom theme park features 2 rocket-shaped vehicles consisting of 3 seats per vehicle that blast off from 2 separate tracks. It is the only version of the attraction that contains 2 separate tracks.

The left side track is called the Alpha; the right side track is called the Omega. Both tracks are nearly identical and mirror each other in twists and drops.

The rockets that race through space achieve a maximum speed of 28 miles per hour—but feel much faster in the dark.

Space Mountain Post-Show

After exiting your rocket-vehicle, you will board a moving runway to the Tomorrowland area, passing scenes of futuristic homes and businesses, as well as television monitors that broadcast your image live along the way.

hmmmm a few interesting things in there

Sorry Rsoxno1, we are supposed to be indulging maya right now. So you can't have a thoughtful discussion. You are supposed to just add these :wave::wave: in inane posts.

And it lets off steam. (huh :brick:)

:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:

Sorry, it'll never happen again. Now, let's figure out a way to get an icon raising up both arms that where we can stagger the times and create an actual wave as seen at sporting events.

I am just being uber-picky here, but "wind in your face" while on a rocket ride in outer space. Would that be the solar wind? Or is it some magical outer space with an atmosphere? Illuminated by .... "black holes". AS far as I am aware, black holes do not illuminate anything - they are called black holes for a reason. Yes it's nit picky, but Disney should KNOW that whatever they put out there is going to be pulled apart in detail. The used to do reasearch on shows.

True, no mention of on-board sound, but it would pretty difficult to do a pumping soundtrack with stationary speakers in that enclosed space. If you did, you would hear it everywhere, or not at all.

Horray for keeping the same cars.

Does not seem like much of a change to me. But I remain open minded.

Please keep your "wavin" to the thread that you started for it. I personally don't get it and find it pretty annoying but in its own thread it isn't hurting anyone- so just keep it there please.

Sometimes....I wish I was a moderator.

Every single one of you has a bit of moderating power- it's the report to moderator function. The first reported post we got from this thread was early this morning. We can't see everything.

It's sad to see this thread so derailed, the waving has got seriously out of hand, so we should all calm down and either let the thread die or talk about space's update.

I'm really looking forward to this rip, ride and rock it -- er, I mean, rip-roaring rocket ride.

I know you did acknowledge it was nitpicking, but suspension of disbelief is vital -- like flying around in space without any breathing apparatus etc. It's just a typical PR statement with lots of jazzy sci-fi buzzwords and exciting details, probably coined by some out-of-touch marketing whiz and not someone that would care about research.

yeah, I was excited to see this on the site this morning, then I realized we're talking about the WDW website which is notorious for being ridiculously inaccurate. How they don't have a quality control position that checks the site to make sure its not giving out erroneous information is beyond me.

It was fine when it was a post or two, but when there are pretty much pages and pages of it, it's kind of ridiculous.
Right...but 2 freaking pages?:brick:
Screamscape is reporting that Disney's website now confirms onboard audio.
Well then....I suppose I can remain a tad optimistic...
I believe (someone correct me if I'm wrong) that the description on the WDW page has been there for months now. At least since January or so.
Old news which reveals nothing new.
So far, I stand by the last information I got...which was no on-board audio when the ride reopens in November.
And then when is refurb Part II? Or will they give it the SSE treatment?
