News Space Mountain exit being worked on

It isn't that narrow, the post show displays are terrible (and I've seen them hundreds of times) and there are other things to do than wait on the walkway. You don't have to rush off, but you can be a normal decent human and at least leave people room to go around you.
It doesn’t really seem to be designed to allow two lanes. Unless they’re children or smaller adults, you’ll likely need to force that other person into an uncomfortable position to get by them. I get that everyone isn’t interested in the post show and might be rushing to other places, but the whole trip up without walking is barely more than a minute or so. Not sure it’s worth passing people on the way, but to each their own I guess.

There's always that one person on the moving sidewalk at the airport, who seems to think they're on an attraction and not going to walk no matter what...

Why would it bother you? Do you never let people pass you ever?
I have see People bump/ run into others when trying to pass on the moving walkway, including inadvertently knocking kids down... If someone did that to me, they would hear about it and I think that is what he means.

Because that’s a train cast member and they’re costume and they are in charge of holding trains or communicating when it’s clear to cross the tracks...same thing happens when parades step off, there’s a cast member from trains monitoring the tracks and holding trains allowing the floats to cross the tracks.

lol i didnt need his whole job description i'm well aware what he's there for to prevent people from being idiots and running across in front of a moving train.

maybe we need some employees dressed up in train gear to guard the brightline tracks in south florida that have already killed like 4 people and its only been running 6 months.

I always get tempted to start talking loudly saying "it's called a moving WALKWAY, not a conveyor belt." You are supposed to walk and the purpose of it is to allow you to walk faster without doing more than normal walking.

I don't know why people want to just stand on them. At the airport or wherever, most of the time I stay off the moving walkway because it is so insanely frustrating to have to stand there while it crawls along. A normal paced walk will get you to the end faster than standing on it.

Unfortunately, space mountain has no option to bypass and walk on a regular walkway.

Turning sideways is uncomfortable?

I mean, I know there are a lot of really fat people, but its not that narrow.

Maybe I’m wrong, but I think there is a difference here. To me SM is more of a conveyor belt due to its angle, similar to PotC. The airport is clearly a moving walkway that is flat, wider, and gives you both options.

To me, it’s like that car that wants to pass you on a residential street. There might be room, but it seems highly unnecessary. It really isn’t wide enough, and those passing aren’t always patient to make the pass. Yes, having that person’s body parts rubbing against mine is uncomfortable. :p

It shouldn’t surprise me, but I guess I just try to take things slightly slower and more relaxed while in WDW.

Because this one has "show"?
FTFY... ;)

In the golden days past, when the E-tickets had sponsors, the so-called "show" was more advertising than entertainment. I clearly recall walking past people who were standing on the Goodyear (another ad) conveyor belt, and I managed to do so without knocking kids down, forcing other people to contort themselves into pretzel knots, or otherwise causing mayhem or mass rioting.

I rode the People mover yesterday - the postshow sets are still intact and active. Unless they plan on altering them late into construction, it looks to be exclusively the moving walkway.
That's a good point-the post-show sets beside the walkway are visible from the TTA, so if they are removed, it would be noticeable from the TTA.

Wow, much unpleasants, so drama.

If you want to stand, stand. If you want to walk, walk.

Me I stand. Space Mountain starts when you hear the tunnel music, or even the walk up to the mountain, and ends when you are dumped into the basketball court. Everything in between is the show, and like food, I savour my pleasures slowly. I stand close to the railing so others can pass, and because I'm European there is plenty of space left for anybody. I really don't see how drama develops over this. The world doesn't need private conveyor belt police.

Sometimes I walk, sometimes I stand. If someone wants to pass by me on the way to, y'know, the EXIT... That's cool. It's not like they're cutting the line. One day it might be me; like if it's getting towards closing time and I want to expeditiously re-board for another go. 😉

As for the ramp, I was on it a couple of weeks ago and it was working... But the usual lumpy rollers were there, if not lumpier. It definitely needs replacement. I don't see them ripping it out completely... For one, the aforementioned "show" and secondly, it keeps people "efficiently" moving throughout the building. As fast as you can in, a fixed time on-ride and as fast as you can out. SM, of all places, definitely needs that.

I always assume that people moving as fast as they can up the ramp have a FP for BTMRR that expires in 5 minutes. :D
