News Space Mountain exit being worked on

Screens and a CGI parrot, most of it.
With a lot of things that made (and I say made because FastPass Plus ruined it) the queue so great would have been gone, replaced by the type of new "storytelling" you can assume from WDW.

But... on the good news front:
a lot of the Winnie the Pooh interactive queue has been taken away, all of the Space Mountain interactive queue has bene taken away, and I see a reality where the Haunted Mansion interactive queue is taken out.
TDO realized that all those queue do is slow down the line and frustrate guests with unwanted noise/clutter.
Everyone can entertain themselves with phones in lines, we don't need a giant squirting sea captain crypt.

Am I silly for enjoying those elements? As a DLR native my favorite park of MK are the big queues. Love the Mermaid and Seven Dwarfs ones, and even enjoy the Haunted Mansion and Winnie the Pooh ones.

It's just nice to be in a line that isn't barely concealed switchbacks. Though I vastly prefer the physical elements of 7DMT and Haunted Mansion over the screen games of Pooh/Mermaid.

How long would a complete retrack take? Disney should have the resources to knock this out in less time if they are willing to spend the money to do it. I'm talking 24x7 construction with multiple crews.

If the track is in bad of shape as some have indicated, I would think they would want this to be a priority, otherwise the opportunity to do it may be gone for another 5 years.

Even if you throw more money at it and hire more steel workers to take down the old track, you're still stuck at one place: when can you get the new track? The amusement park industry is red hot at the moment and many suppliers are fully booked up for years. Add Disney particular requirements and that's why it take years to open between the time something is announced and when it opens.

I don't think this has been posted here yet, but I saw on Reddit that Disney recently added chrome balls to the end of the SM exit.
It's a nice touch imo.

what part? 90% of it is the same as it was before.
It's not even close to being 10% different, it's more like 70-30 ish. Yes the newer rooms with the lighting fixtures and what not do resemble a bit of tron. Plus in the older parts there are a few minor upgrades. 10%.... yeah

Have any of the insiders even heard recent talks about track replacement at some point in the near future?

I also remember someone mentioning a loud noise by load on the standby side. Does anyone know if this was in this thread or a different one? I noticed the loud mechanical noise they mentioned on standby, and it was on the FastPass side as well, but was less loud. They asked if this had always been a thing and if it had been piped in as part of the sound effects or something else. It very much sounded to me like the lift hills bringing the ride vehicles up to load from the unload beneath it were lacking maintenance. I hadn't noticed this noise on either side last year.
