Bear in mind that this is Mr Hill, so take everything with a grain of salt. :)lookaroun) Interesting read, though I still have hopes for the popularity of Idol.

Ehh...I still don't care for this addition. The only good thing I say is that at least the vacant ABC Theater is going to be used for something.

I have to agree....Idol is such a fad and will become even more dated as time goes on. Granted the experience would be kewl...if everyone in the world could sing not to mention sing well. I personally hate Idol and I can't carry a tune to save my life so this is a total pass for me. Something I won't be experiencing while in the parks which is kinda sad thinking how they're designing experiences that doesn't target everyone.

I personally will not be going to this attraction, and nor do I think that it will last long at all. This is a huge investment in ones time. Time that could be spent doing other, dare I say it, better things.

Since it appears that fully going through the process could take up half-a-day... does this make DHS a full-day park?

I love how the whole thing starts...They put a black bag over your head and push you into a darkned room and a robotic voice tells you to SING!

SING!

LOUDER AND SADDER!

Then it tells you that you weren't that good...that way you aren't let down because a robot said it!

Does it bother anyone else that his article is overflowing with sentence fragments? I know I'm being picky, but grammatical errors in published articles are like nails on a chalkboard to me. I think people might have an easier time taking him seriously if he worked a bit on his writing.... (then again, maybe not... maybe there's nothing he can do to make people take him seriously! :ROFLOL:)

That aside, I'm soooo not looking forward to this attraction. A) I don't sing and B) Why on earth would I waste my vacation/park time just sitting and listening to other people sing? Also, I really hope they don't end up broadcasting it on the jumbotron. That way, those who would like to avoid it, can.

While I am not a big fan of the show and I agree that Disney is coming a bit late to the party I have no doubt that this attraction will be insaneley popular and at least have the same shelf life as Millionare.

By comparison American Idol started out with just shy of 10 million viewers for the premiere episode and within 4 years has been consistently pulling over 30 million viewers with a peak of just shy of 38 million viewers in 2007.

Millionaire started out in the 30 million range but had fallen off to just a fraction of that by 2001 which was the year the attraction at MGM and DCA opened.

If a TV show that had already fallen far from the top spot in the ratings was able to support an attraction for 6 years I have no doubt that an attraction based off a show that consistently pulls high 20s to low 30's will at least make it that long.

While the couple hundred thousand of us Worldphiles will not care for this there are about 30 million other WDW guests that will go nuts over this attraction.

This has disaster and heartache written all over it. I'm sure waivers will have to be signed (all decisions final - no whining, crying or complaining allowed - yadda, yadda, yadda), but we're talking about young people. I just hope they have what it takes to take rejection from a video screen and/or an intentionally mean judge.

No, thank you.

I have to say, this sounds HORRIBLE. I guess I just don't get it. Who would give up a whole day to do this? And who would want to watch?:brick:

I will not be attending this attraction when it opens either. Although if the "Simon" judge is going to be cruel like Jim says he is then I cannot wait to hear the negative comments from him or the guests alike.
