Solo Trip Report: May 18th - May 25, 2009 (with photos)

Whew... after months of planning - my Disneyworld vacation has come and gone. Originally I was going to Disneyworld with my partner, but, he decided to not go. I ended up going SOLO. And let me tell you... I suggest everyone take at least one solo vacation in their lifetimes. At first I was hesitant about being alone - however, I quickly realized, I was not alone and that I was in for the time of my life!!!!

I will start with Day 1 and the other days gradually in different posts.

My wonderful solo trip report begins now... ENJOY!!!!!

PS... sorry about the photos being so large.

The FINALE... My Solo Vacation

Pop Century: Great resort!! I loved every minute of it. The food court was great. I loved not sharing a bus with the all stars. I think I will only stay at POP for no on. I appreciate the moderate and deluxe resorts, but with all the money, what are you paying for? I am fine at POP!!

Magical Express: Phenomenal service. I do not think I will ever rent a car again. This allowed me to not worry about anything in route and leaving. The airline check in was great as well.

Quick Service Plan: I will not do a dining plan again. It is not for me at all. It is too much food and a lot went uneaten. Plus, if you have a AP and a Tables in Wonderland card, you get discounts at most places. Further, if you stay at a value resort, the card gets you 20% off your meal. This plan limited me whereas I like to eat at all types of places.

Do I recommend being solo at the world? ABSOLUTELY YES!!! This was truly the best vacation I have had in recent memory!!! I join the ranks of everyone else who suggest it. The only clock you are on is yours!!

I want to give a special thanks to.. TOURING PLANS. They really helped me with my trip. Thank you so much.

Thank you for taking the time to read my report. If you have any questions, please ask them. I had a great time and am an expert solo at Disneyworld!!!

I loved your trip report. We have always stayed at the All Star Movies, but will be staying at Pop next week for the first time. I am so glad to here that you enjoyed it. I'm hoping for 50's:)
And, I am a little jealous about your solo trip, but will have to start gearing up for my own as my DD is soon going to be going to college and won't be going with me:confused:

Great TR! I have also been attacked by animals in WDW...TWICE!! One time I was staying on the ground floor at the GF overlooking the lake and a duck flew up and TOOK A CRACKER RIGHT OUT OF MY HAND! I screamed bloody murder to say the least. Another time I was at EPCOT having a pretzel from Germany and a small bird flew up and took a piece out of my hand. The small bird was a lot less scary than the giant duck! I think it's hilarious that you took pictures of the squirrel!

If you can get 50s, that is great. To me, it is the best of the standard rooms. My view was gorgeous at day and even better at night. To see the Epcot ball nightly in its glow was the icing on the cake. The noise in 50s was not loud either. While the bowling pool was right there, of course more people tended to be at the main pool.

Great question. I do not know if it was that good. But for Florida/theme park standards it was good. Give it a try next time and report back.

Weather during my trip

I forgot one major part that made my trip successful during the horrible weather.

1. Buy cheap ponchos at walmart. It was a lifesaver for me. I had 2 and layered up.

2. I carried a back pack. It allowed for a drink, camera, batteries, snack, etc. More importantly, if their was rain in forecast, I had my flip flops in the bag so once rain came i put those on. Once you get into a dry place, flip flops dry off. wet shoes are not fun.

Yea, it is a first for everything. The attack was rather funny afterwards. During it was a little scary because that squirrel was out for food, lol. I bet a lot of people have been attacked by animals. :ROFLOL:

Thoughts on American Idol Experience

I forgot to add in AIE. I finally got see the show. I arrived back to HS around 625pm and the line was wrapped to the street. CMs were standing at the entrance telling people - it is a high probability that if you were not in the main holding area - you was not getting in. I did not care one way or the other. But I waited in line anyway.

Once they let people in, I ended up just making the cut to get in. Luckily being a solo. Here are my thoughts on the show..

1. The crowd pleaser guy was corny. I know his purpose - but he was really really corny.

2. The host - he was good. I thought they would have had an exact replica of Ryan Seacrest.

3. The judges - they were funny to say the least. But I know everything that came out of their mouths is scripted.

4. The performances were GREAT!!! I was highly impressed. The young lady who won was phenomenal.

Overall, I was impressed with the attraction. Do I have to see it again? Not so much - but it was nice to see once.

Good report and pictures! All the rain sucked though.

Your Boma thing got me ticked though, when I see people being treated like that I usually say something or file a complaint.

Thanks for the trip report! As much as I love going to WDW with my family I can't imagine what it would be like to be able to get up early and out the door by 7:15am all by myself. I'm jealous!

great trip report. I am doing a solo trip myself the first week in December staying at POP also. I have a couple of questions. Was doing Ohana strange solo. It is one of my favorite places and want to eat there just a little worried about the atmosphere, its more of a group place.

Also, What type of camera do you have? I want to photograph the parks in all its Christmas dress.

I am still ticked myself about the treatment of the workers at Boma. I am in the process of writing a letter to Disney guest relations and plan to include my observation of the African workers. They were being treated as 2nd class citizens by the manager. I could understand if it was packed, but it wasnt even half full and his attitude towards them was really off the wall. I am also going to include a suggestion for them to get seat belt extenders for test track - but that probally will not happen.

Let me tell you - it was GREAT. Traveling with others, it takes for ever for everyone to get ready. And people have to smoke and eat and take their time. Not my trip.. it was only me. It was PHENOMENAL!!

Actually, Ohana was a little strange (I have to admit). I felt like when I 1st sat down, all the other tables kept looking at me to see was I by myself. But, I did not let it bother me. My waitress went above and beyond to make me feel comfortable. You also stand a good chance getting a seat by the window for the fireworks (make your ressies a little before the fireworks). Be prepared, it is A LOT of food being solo - but enjoy it. Do not let being solo stop you from going.

I have a Canon PowerShot A610. I love my camera - it takes great photos in all types of weather day and night.
