Oops!

I think that he meant it as a joke, as told by the cast member. Since they’re “Soarin’ Over California”, the weather has to be ideal. It’s akin to the Splash Mountain when the ride stops and the announcement states “Looks like Brer Fox and Brer Bear are causing trouble up ahead” (paraphrased of course). It was merely a clever way of covering for a technical dilemma.

'Course maybe the poster was confused. Time will tell.

Soaring over America. Getting closer to the old Magic Carpet Round the World from Tomorrowland all the time. Of course, that Magic Carpet converted to a carpet around America before being converted to Timekeeper.

Of course, This will be a ride and I'm betting no 'lean rails!' Haha

I took the Backstage Magic tour over the Easter Holidays, and the CM guide talked about it. He said that it would be Soarin' over CA at first to celebrate whatever anniversary they have coming up at DL, and then it would change to be over America. That seems like alot of work to put into a ride, only to change it later though. So I'm not sure how true this is.

Is there anyone here that has heard this rumor too? I don't want to be a pessimist, but this is the first time I've ever heard this. Of course, things change all the time, but even the official announcements and press releases said it would be over California and a direct clone, including Al Weiss himself when the attraction was announced. ALthough not impossible, changing the film would require quite a bit of work beyond just filming a new film...new motions would have to be programmed in the seats, a new score would probably be needed (but not necessarily...), a reprogramming of certain show effects would be needed, etc. which had all been worked out for the California version which made a quicker installation. If they did finally decide to go with a different film, that decision was made sometime in the last 6 months which means sometime within the last 6 months a lot of new planning and work had to have begun. I suppose its a possibility. The building and the ride system would work for any version of Soarin' over "fill in the blank".

I think I'll wait until I hear from other people here who have pretty good credibility if they have heard anything to this effect before getting too "excited". Don't get me wrong, I've been all for a direct clone from the California version since day one, but naturally would be thrilled to see a different film for our version to keep each attraction different.

From what I know, the ride is/was scheduled to open with the DCA film, then change after a year or two.
Could have changed. It's possible.

Doesn't matter either way to me. I love Soarin', and thats comparing it to any ride, anywhere. I would take Soarin' over the overrated Spiderman anyday.

I'm really looking forward to this now...I always thought it seemed like it was overrated (just by reading what it was compared to people's reviews...) but now I'm psyched!

Lee...can I ask you why you think Spider-man is overrated?

Does it not immerse you into the comic book world and put you right in the nonstop action in a realistic way? I dunno, it's probably just an opinion of yours but I for one think that Spider-man is one of the best attractions I've ever been on (granted, once a visit is enough...but it's still really fun for the whole family...now if they could only lower that height restriction  )

I don't know.
Maybe it was all the hype before I rode it...that may account for the letdown.
Don't get me wrong, it's a nice attraction, and I ride it when at IOA.
But, in my humble, and somewhat biased opinion, Indy at DL is a far superior ride. From the queue to the immersiveness of the attraction, Indy wins hands down.
On Spidy, I never lost the sensation of riding around, watching a 3-d film.

Ah I gotcha, I've never been on Indy (believe me...I can only IMAGINE what I'm missing).

Now, I just checked Mouseplanet and they too have mentioned the Soarin' Over the United States name and concept.

That's where the thread came from.

Hope it's true - and I REALLY want a dramatic "Listen to the Land" - how ideal (and improbable) that would be.
