Soarin: Is It Really That Great?

IMO there is no ride, attraction, nothing worth standing in a 90 minute line for unless its for something like a Wii for your son on his way to deploy to Iraq...
But Soarin is my fav ride. Barefoot, with my legs stretched out and toes pointed....that's the way I like to soar

I enjoy the ride. It is a great concept and the mix of wind and smells really do a good job of simulating that you are gently gliding around California. I'm still not going to ever get in the regular line if it is over an hour. I'll just FP+ it. I will also totally support a new film that focuses on the East coast. It is kind of weird to celebrate California in Florida.

no ride is worth a 90 minute wait, however I LOVE Soarin!

Agree no ride is worth 90 minute wait. We only FP it, but we never tire of it. We have met some great people waiting in the pre ride area. Love the video with Patrick, and hearing him say, "Soarin to tower, ready for take off" never gets old. When the glider lifts off in the dark and the music starts I cant help but get a big smile on my face. My wife will grab my hand when the Lake Tahoe scene comes up. Just one of those little special Disney moments we have that I love. If I need a Disney fix I will play the Soarin soundtrack and Im good, but then I want to book a trip. Same thing with Big Blue World. lol

I find Soarin' to be a fairly relaxing ride. It's in my books as one that you can enjoy AC and sit down and enjoy a 8-10 minute song/video without any extra gimmicks

Usually not worth it without a fastpass though. The games in the lines are fun, and even enjoyable to watch, but after you've done it a dozen or so times the wait in line usually isnt worth it.

With the new Fastpass+ though, I usually choose Soarin over TT because TT has a single riders line... and I'm usually by myself. :)

That is exactly what we did, FP'd Soarin and did single rider with TT and the single rider wait time was about 25 minutes at 11 am for TT.

I didn't do it last trip at all, and you know what? Didn't miss it.

Especially didn't miss waiting in line for 30 minutes WITH fastpass. I can watch Captain EO instead. Basically the same experience (watching a screen with immersion effects) without any wait.

....it's one of the few rides that I exit ...and I'm smiling like a fool!!

....multi-sensory experience that I really like.

...they do ...however need to clean up the film a bit and or the screen too.

...the wait ...is unfortunately ...a long one if you are not getting a FP for it.

Completely unrelated, but I had to do this...:

I think Soarin' is a fun ride. I ride it every time I see a wait time of 20 mins or less. Needless to say, I don't ride it often.

I actually don't get the love for quite a few Disney attractions. Soarin', TT, and TSMM are 3 of the most over rated rides anywhere.

It's good and different, but I don't really get it either.

I guess it's the perfect family ride, unless your terribly afraid of heights.

I'd rather ride test track, and I wouldn't be upset if I didn't get to ride soarin on a trip because that line is just to darn long and I don't see wasting a fastpass day on epcot with their tier system.

I enjoyed it, but perhaps your prolonged wait clouded your opinion. Some people actually clapped at the end of the ride, though I wasn't that enthusiastic about it. I would certainly ride again but at no more than a half hour standby.

It has long wait times because in Epcot, there are about 3 rides worth doing in it's current state. Soarin, Test Track, and Mission Space. I'm sure someone on here can come in and site hourly capacity stats (what I'm finding online is between 1600-1800/hour). Epcot has the 2nd most visitors at WDW, and only has 3 "must-do" attractions.

This is so true. Epcot needs more things to gobble folks up. Without paper FP's it should be CARAZY trying to ride Soarin, TT or MS.

I do LOVE Soarin' though.

I love Soarin' but as time has gone on.. The scents for the scenes now blend together... the system doesnt empty the pipes out from the last fragrance before injecting a new smell. So you get oranges when it's pine tress and vice versa... I will love it, but it could use a few months to reno....
