Oh, I wasn't talking about Bob's agenda. ;)
I know. I don't think @WDW1974 has a hidden agenda to make Disney look bad. Any time he points out something the company has done that is wrong, I believe it has been based in fact with a smattering of opinion (his prerogative). It is extreme paranoia to suggest that any fan has a hidden agenda to take down the company that manages the entertainment resorts that they love.

Oh, I don't think he has any agenda as far as the Disney company goes, just for Bob Iger (well, Tom Staggs as well). He loves Disney (or what it used to be anyway), just hates the current top management.

Anyway, I don't want to derail this thread anymore than it already has been. Sorry to all. Back to talking about Soarin'.

Photo update as of Thursday, July 16. I have been watching this construction for over a month, but finally took a photo to post.

Bob Iger stated that SDL is opening in the Spring of 2016, so there is no reason why we don't get the new film in late 2016, since it will already have debuted.
Unless Shanghai Shendi Group wants a longer exclusive.

You know that's only someone's agenda at work, right? I seriously doubt that he would have said that publicly if he wasn't pretty darn sure of it. Disney is notorious for not announcing anything until they are really sure of something happening, and even then, they sometimes hold off. I mean, they didn't announce the BLT until several floors were already built!
The Shanghai Disney Resort announcements included an opening timeframe that will not be met.

You paged me?

I've always been upfront and open about my agenda: regime change at the top of the company and many of its divisions (especially P&R, WDI under it etc.) But I don't lie about it. And I don't make things up to back up my beliefs that these people are bad people doing bad things. That is my prerogative ...

I'm not looking to bring the company down. I'd like to see it soar and do truly great things. I don't care what Wall Street says or the financials, I don't believe Iger, Staggs and Co are the visionary leaders that a company like Disney requires. It's very easy to make those numbers look great when you do what Iger has ... buy pricey popular IP ... and cut, cut, cut anywhere and everywhere ... and invest the least possible amount back into your business while buying back huge amounts of stock. Any idiot could do what Bob has done. He's just our special MAGICal idiot!

I like to imagine that the person who suggested painting show buildings blue to "camouflage" them also thinks putting his hands over his eyes counts as a hiding spot. You'll be able to see it no matter what so might as well make it look really cool!

The purpose wasn't to hide it, it was to lower the profile. Many people that I have talked too have been to Epcot and have never noticed the building there at all. Even I, a person that knew it was being built and had been there during the construction phase when it was like neon it was so obvious, was surprised when I went later and didn't even notice it. I went again and looked for it and yes... it was very visible. I have never even noticed the Swan and Dolphin in the background because I wasn't looking for them and had no reason to look up in that direction. It's one of the many "show" tricks that are used in the business.

When you're the leader, you don't have to follow.

I have never once seen the existing Soarin' building without having actually looked for it.
The Swolphin however, is another matter altogether.
Yuck! Absolutely hate those cartoonish figures on the roof.
