wasn't the point of fp+ was to bring down stand by times? So wouldn't doing that would indeed do the intended job of the system, even if it means people with fp+ have to wait a few minutes longer?

the point of fp+ was the bring down stand by times? well it did... for those that use fp+ for that attraction ;)

It did not. Don't make excuses for them.
Martin, you know I admire your knowledge and your work in preserving the Disney history, but, please when you make an 8 word statement without any explanation, I cannot accept that. If you can tell me what they were going to put there that didn't get there, or how they were going to reconcile the use of the ride vehicle screens with outside distraction, I might be able to understand. I am not making excuses, I am conveying what makes sense to me even if you or others don't agree. But, please defend your words otherwise I will continue to state it as I see it.

Time, money, accident damage to repair when a scaffhold tower fell (somewhere around the Renassiance scene I believe) on sets and at least two ride vehicles.

That tells me that they had a problem at reset, but, it doesn't address what was going to be there and how it would reconcile with the on board screens. To be honest, I don't even understand what the connection to the two would be. If it would have meant a delay in opening so they left stuff out, OK! What I need to know to settle my mind is what was left out? Otherwise it would seem to me to be pure speculation on everyone's part. Assuming that speculation is the case, why isn't the blame being placed on Siemens since they financed the change and sponsor the attraction?

The blame was landed on Siemens. Much like a lot of other things that never get completed or done, this is another one. It works. It draws guests. Why now - or even in 2008 - spend more? Although we did get more triangles and fairy lights.

And thank you BTW for your kind words earlier. Pardon my manners for not saying so earlier.

I agree the end of the Spaceship Earth doesn't make any sense and is just blah... it feels incomplete and it wouldn't take a whole lot to add some lights digital displays or something on the decent while we are watching the cheesy cartoon

Was that a construction crew scaffold that fell or the show set scaffold with Michelangelo that fell?

Please DO mess with Energy. Make it worth riding again and staying awake for.
Just a little update for you from Sunday. The large doors in between theater 1 and the diorama did not work at all. The "snake-like creature" and Ellen are still missing. In theater 1, the left screen was dim, while the other 2 looked good. The curtains in theater 2 looked like they didn't work, you could see the 2 side screens as you entered the theater.

I don't think the point of FP+ was to bring down standby times. It definitely increases them because according to Disney more people are using the system than regular FP. The overall time spent waiting in line should decrease for some guests (those who never used the old system) and increase it for others. According to Disney, the point of FP+ is that you can prioritize the rides you don't want to miss and reserve a time before you even leave home. They don't advertise that you will be waiting in slightly longer standby lines on every other attraction since other guests picked those rides for their FP+ reservation.

A perfect example is a ride like HM. Before FP+ the line rarely exceeded 20 minutes. For argument's sake lets say that standby wait is now 5 to 10 minutes longer on average. For those guests that selected HM for FP+ their wait is nothing. It averages to the same number of riders per hour (no change to ride capacity) In isolation 5 to 10 minutes seems pretty small, but when you ride 15 rides at MK in the standby line that's up to 150 extra minutes in line or 2 1/2 hours. You will have your 3+ rides with FP with no wait, but unless you pick the right FP reservations your overall wait time will be longer. This is less problematic at a park like AK or DHS where there are far fewer rides. Even if EE standby is up 5 to 10 minutes that's not a big deal since most of the other rides don't have long waits anyway.
When fp+ was first introduced, they did say that the goal was to have people spend less time waiting in line. It was in a video on the Disney Parks youtube.

That was the aim of the legacy system. To give people more spare time to spend money.

Another Paul Pressler leftover.

Lol, but waits for the headliners are down... it is a shame what happened to HM and pirates...40+ is the new average :(
According to those that track wait times for a living, the waits are about the same with e-tickets only having a slight decrease in wait times and attractions like HM having a slight increase.

POTC's problems at the moment have little to noting to do with FP+

And so don't need Fastpass. Original or new.

There's a reason they took it away from the HM originally. And Pirates in Disneyland. Convieniantly ignored now the magicaltrackingbands are with us.
You are right that they do not need it, but having it with the current system gives them the ability to move evenly disperse crowds.

yeah I agree with that... those attractions just weren't designed with FP in mind.. ESPECIALLY Pirates. They really need a new entrance for FP and continue to use both sides for standby.... and one other thing that would help is to load all of the seats on the boat. The last time I was there they weren't loading the back rows at all (or has this changed)?

There have been problems with the new boats. Not loading the back row might be a stop gap solution.

I think you're right... ya have to think a ride that is already backed up too much and what that does to capacity - hopefully they'll fix this issue (or the boats altogether)

I wondered if they stopped loading the back row because of the guy who lost his finger though?
