So What's The Mysterious "Third IP" Coming to DHS?

Jake, think about what you just wrote. You're equating joining forum with ACQUIRING inside info. People with inside info don't get it from forums, they get it fro inside. They join forums to disseminate the info.
That wasn't what I was saying, I meant that the credible insiders have been here for years, and I just think its strange that they just joined and have inside info. Not that because they joined they have info.

Sources close to the situation have mentioned an announcement regarding the 3rd IP themed area to be for POTC. This is confirmed as of this morning and is expected by the end of this year, as soon as October. This land will include nods to Captain Hook as well.

There is no chance a new "land" would be open by October, or even the end of the year. Some sort of show on the other had is in the realm of possibility.

Do you think there is any opportunity they would begin to separate pirates in general from the Sparrow story? Go back to just pirates as a genre and not tied to that storyline?

Jake, why is it strange that someone who just joined has inside info???
Every "insider" has to join sometime right?
Yes, and my point was that they don't seem to have any credibility if they just joined, especially when they stated that it would be open by October, which is extremely far fetched.

I vote for Sharknado.

Although it'd probably be a better fit in a weather pavillion at Epcot. :D

In all seriousness, I'm excited for whatever's in the plans, and I'll be grateful if it becomes a reality. Some people are disappointed about phase 3 being reduced from an entire land, but I'm just glad the park is (hopefully) getting another big ride. It takes logical thinking to realize that DHS needs the additional capacity to handle the crowds that SWL will bring, and often, short-term monetary concerns overshadow the greater need.

We tend to be a little skeptical of new comers bearing inside information because we have been burned so many times in the past, and there has been more then one times it has turned very ugly. The indicator of someone who is just trolling is that they will all of a sudden get VERY defensive when people challenge their information.

I think there is VERY minimal chance Disney will create a new attraction anytime in the near future that isn't tied to an IP.
My very unpopular opinion is that it is impossible to have anything without an intellectual thought from somebody. If Disney comes up with there own, who thought of it? Did a collective light bulb appear over headquarters because the entire company simultaneously came up with a new idea? Did whomever thought of it get paid for that idea to become a "property". Even a salary is payment. So, there is no such thing as an attraction that at one point isn't somebodies intellectual property either sold through salary or outright payment. Be their name Lucas or Joe Smith from Imagineering. My favorite saying... Much ado about nothing. If it's good and makes a good attraction, I don't give a rats behind who came up with it. It really doesn't matter at all. No corporation ever thought of anything by itself, it takes people and people can come from everywhere. That's how we get variety.

Yeah, I can understand the skepticism. But Jake's initial logic was a bit askew, like an egg chicken thing I wasn't mad at him or anything, just trying to get the if-then right. I've lurked here a long time and I've always figured those of you that are closer to the situation have become confident in each other's bonafides one way or another, and I certainly have no basis to question the veracity of what that group of you pass along.

Yes, I understand what you are saying, but when we discuss "IP" based attractions around here it's generally understood that we are talking about attractions that are based on a pre-existing IP, like a book, movie or TV show, as opposed to Imagineerings being allowed to develop ideas and stories from scratch. Basing something on a pre-existing IP tends to tie your hands creatively to some extend, but developing and idea from scratch give you a much large canvas to work with.

Actually, I am not part of the "inside" group, 99.9% of what I pass along comes from public records, that's the area I focus on.

Ok, yes, you handle the building permit stuff and those developments. Very well.
If "insider" isn't quite the term, I'll certainly pull back to "long ago verified he's got his ducks in a row" guy. Anyway, I appreciate your passion and focus, and depth of knowledge.
