Would you prefer talk of melodicas? :D

I was so intrigued, I had to google melodica:

A unique and incredibly portable keyboard works on air from your lungs and sounds like a harmonica on single notes or an accordion when chorded

Works on air from your lungs? What, you breathe into it?
Why am I now talking about melodicas?

I'm happy to have been able to fly home to New York to see the family again -- nevermind that I'm sitting home alone right now while they go about their daily lives :p

For Christmas, I was given:

*Cash -- not sure how much, honestly, but enough to buy a dress I need for a wedding next month or the plane tickets to the wedding.

*DVDs -- The West Wing, Season 5; Mean Girls; The Family Guy, Volume 3; The Day After Tomorrow; The Village - all movies I'd meant to buy but had not gotten around to getting in the last year, basically.

*XBox 360 -- My mom found one each for my brother and I so that we could play new games on XBox Live. I was also given Perfect Dark Zero and Project Gotham Racing 3.

*Digital Camera -- A Kodak C340 camera with photo printer dock. They also gave me some additional photo paper and ink cartridges.

I gave my dad Dai Senryaku VII: Modern Military Tactics for XBox and he and I have played that together for about 30 of the last 48 hours. He loves hex-based wargames and I'm happy that I found something I can play with him that isn't as overwhelming and intense as the Avalon Hill games he has.

To my brother, I gave some accessories to his Vex Robotics kit from Radio Shack. My family is big into FIRST Robotics and he'll use the parts to learn more about the design of mechanical systems and such. Specifically, I gave him the tank tread kit, the gear kit, and the chain and sprocket kit.

My mom bought my gift to her on her own since she, like me, is inordinately picky about nearly everything. She'd said she wanted a Dust Devil Broom Vac thing, but I won't buy her things she needs to clean the house as gifts. That's just a horrible thing to do.

We were hoping to see Wicked together while I was home, but even starting way back in October, we couldn't find tickets for any performances in late November or December. My mom is going with my cousin in February, however. I may have to wait until June or September.

Altogether, though this holiday didn't feel as much a 'season' as it has in the past because Seattle sucks in that regard, it was still a wonderful experience.
