Trip Report So I guess Disney thinks Canadians do not celebrate Christmas?? A Max Trip Report- COMPLETED

A big hello to all my Disney friends:

As the title suggest this is a trip report regarding our recent Christmas adventure at Walt Disney World

Why the title you ask? I will keep you guessing on that one for a few days at least

Details leading up to the departure can be found here:

https://forums.wdwmagic.com/threads...-max-the-girls-and-the-boys-do-disney.951075/

This is my 6th trip report on these boards so hopefully you have read at least one before

The reason I say that is that my style might not suit all - I can probably sum it up as

1) Shoot from the hip
2) Do not pull punches
3) Definitely not PC
4) Not always PG
5) As much Seinfeld references as @Tuvalu can handle
6) Not too heavy or too light on the Pixie dust -keep it real and call it as I see it

Quick introduction will come from:

Day 1 - Travel Day towards the US but not quite beyond the comfort of home:
Friday Dec 21, 2018

The original plan was to drive from our home in Waterloo Ont Canada to Buffalo NY on Sat Dec 22.
With a 10:35 am fight a same day drive could have worked.

We switched it up to a drive on the day before and booked a hotel in Niagara Falls Canada

(our B&B in Buffalo backed out on us - @Doc Disney can try to explain how she let us down!!!)

So here we are at the Embassy Suites on Friday enjoying our homemade Mickey cookies

Me (Max, Andrew, Clarence) and Tricia

My younger daughter Cassie and Shane (BF)

and my older daughter Stephanie and her fiancé Jordan

and this is all of us at the Falls ( selfies are harder with six people!!!)

This report will chronicle Disney trip 28 for me and lucky(?) 13 to WDW.
It is also 13 to WDW for Tricia
The girls celebrate 10 trips to the world
Trip 2 for Shane (though his memory of the first is limited)

And - 1ST TIME FOR JORDAN!!!!!!

More Day 1 to follow and then off to Buffalo the next day!!!

Welcome aboard, ashore and wherever we are!!!

Max

Better. 😉😂

(Though you can edit your title without deleting the thread.)
Hi Tu - yes I realized after but I was trying to the avoid the grammer police - not such luck - you are too quick for me

Woohoo!! You started! I'm here!
P.S. You forgot 7) Lots of snark.
Yes - you are correct that Snark could/should be included in the list

but then again, I do not state that I breathe in air - and Snark for me and @Tuvalu is pretty much as common place as breathing......

And you call yourself Canadians?! That’s grass, man!! Your yard is green!! Did you have to mow before you left?!
Slow your roll Moana!!!
Just because I happen to go on vacation during a mild spell - which we all get in Canada - does not make me any less Canuck than you.
I watched Paul Henderson put the puck in the net in 1972 against the USSR - did you!!!!

JK - really strange not having snow
We have some now but not much
Local ski bump (not a mountain and barely a hill) just opened this week

Wow, that hotel looks like it has one of the most stunning views in the world. I never would have imagined there would be a hotel so close to a natural wonder. Good start to your report!
They have built quite a few hotels right along the river where the famous falls are located.
We were on the 14th floor but I believe it has almost 40 levels to stay on.
When (not if) you decide to venture further north you must come and see it for yourself - I will be your tour guide

I'm glad to see you starting a proper report! I hope that means you are feeling better.
Not feeling great but better for sure - thank you - so many adults, cats and then babies asking me to start !!

Can't wait! Your view of the falls is amazing. That is some green grass for December!
Kelly.
Crazy green Christmas - I think they got a dusting on 24th but not much - good year to be in Disney with the soapy snow!

Can’t wait to hear all about it!
More to come for sure!!

Looking forward to reading of your adventures. We left Disney on the 21st :(
So you probably got the cold , rainy weather?? We were lucky to have just missed it and had good /mild conditions for our stay
Thanks for following

All checked in and waiting for more!
Glad you are checked in !!

Following along. Loving the new addition to the family, Stitch! The boys look nice too;)
Yes - the son I always wanted - oh and yeah - Jordan and Shane came along too!!

This is my first of yours, and your “warnings” have me even more excited! :bookworm:
I hope to live up to my own expectations - if it gets too calm I know a lady from Georgia that will stir it up for sure

E is ready for story time!
So much pressure already - okay here goes..

Good night room
Good night moon
Goodnight cow jumping over the moon
Goodnight light, and the red ballon
Goodnight bears, Goodnight Chairs
Goodnight kittens, and goodnight mittens
Goodnight clocks, and goodnight socks
Goodnight little house, and goodnight mouse
Goodnight comb and goodnight brush
Goodnight nobody , Goodnight mush
and Good night to the old lady whispering "hush"

Super excited that you started your report!
I am too!!!

I’m here (as are the cats Indy and Cara 😂). Went to bed early last night (the new year started with a tragedy at work and by last night I was just emotionally spent and exhausted) or I would have gotten here earlier 😉.
AMAZING picture of the Falls from the funicular!
The kitties are waiting and I am here to entertain - this is the second funicular I have been on - Quebec City has one as well - you may be able to show us more from your side of the Atlantic?
Really looking forward to this!!
Thank you for following and being ready!

:joyfull::joyfull: Sorry my "B and B" isn't quite running yet
OK - I get it - start up issues are common
But at least we are in full agreement that it will be running at some point!!!!

So happy to see you started your report! Interested to know how it went with the larger group and additions to the family!
Details will follow but the larger group issues we not noticeable compared to other external issues..... (oh I am such a tease!!!)

I'm in!! Can't wait to hear all about it! Hopefully you enjoyed all of the Christmas decorations as much as I did! I was sorry to miss you guys by 2 days!
More on the Christmas stuff later but it might surprise you a bit.....

I'm looking forward to your report.
I will do my best to engage and entertain

I’m following! 😊
and I would expect nothing less ( unless of course you are sooo snowed in still that the power and wifi are not working -then I would give you a pass!!)

I probably could show you more funiculars if I went skiing, but I’m a beach gal. I’ll look out for them on my travels, just for you 😉

Day 1 wrap up:

So a text only post for this one.

As with many people living in the 21st century we deal with food allergies (if you do no have any consider yourself lucky)

So in our party of six we had allergies (Dairy, Corn , Almonds, and Soy) and preferences ( vegetarian , meatatarian , salad lover, etc)

So before going to dinner we have to do an internet search of the area - check online menus ( mostly for the soy allergy)

We were going to go back to the hotel to Applebees, then switched to Hard Rock and finally decided on The Works
(gourmet burgers only in Ontario - recommend if you come up this way)

First off though this is not a woe is me speech - none of the allergies are life threatening - no epi pens - my heart goes out to families with small children who live with that every day

But I just wanted to clarify early - every Disney meal had 3 regular menus and 3 Allergy menus
Disney does a good job - they always have for us - but before it usually slowed you done waiting for a chef

After dinner we walked back to the hotel
Tricia and I caught the tail end of the manager reception

It was a zoo (free food ,drinks and alcohol bring out the worst in people) - l think some families were feeding their kids the pretzels/chips/pickles as a meal!!

Tricia and Jordan ventured over to the nearby casino hoping to get a hotel upgrade / trip extension at WDW
Jordan's first time in the casino was a good warmup - he found it a little over stimulating
They came back with less in their pockets ( $20 and $ 10 resp) and we all crashed for the night

Next up - Going across the border - would there be a tariff???
