So disapointed with the Disney Store.

Went to the Disney Store tonight to get my wife something for Christmas. I couldn't believe that there is not one piece of clothing in adult sizes anymore. I was so shocked I asked a CM. She showed me to a rack of with two rows of pajamas. That's all we have, she said. All clearance, sizes 2X and Large. Unfortunately, my wife weighs 105 pounds soaking wet. So sad.

We lost ours here, but prior to that, I had pretty much stopped going. I much preferred the old stores.

I was, however, quite impressed with the selections at Downtown Disney (Disneyland) two weeks ago.

The only thing that stopped me from buying more than a hat was my pregnancy.

But next trip... :drevil:

Yes, the Disney store hasn't gotten my business in about 5 years...

I still buy Disney products, but usually only online.

And when I am in the parks, of course.:animwink:

Disappointed in the Disney Store?

Isn't everybody, including the company itself? :animwink:

It's amazing that the original version was extremely successful, then they screwed it up by selling the same merch you could get much cheaper at Target or Wal-Mart. Then they sold out to the Children's Place, which really ran the once-gleaming chain into the ground, and finally bought the stores back.

Disappointed? Who?

World of Disney stores are infinitely better.

My DD and I were so excited to go to the Disney store in NYC when we were there in August. I figured with three floors, there had to be lots of stuff. What a let down. It was all little kid stuff, pretty much the same as what I can get here in Milwaukee, except the cool themed NY t-shirts, but of course non of those were big enough. I guess I was expecting something along the lines of Mouse Gears.

The Disney Store is nothing more than what another poster said. Walmart and Target variety Disney Merchandise in a World of Disney themed store front.

If Disney really wanted to do something right, start selling theme park lines of merchandise in the storefront....

And thank goodness for that! I was so happy to see that the quality was still there.

I wouldn't want all that stuff to be available all over the place- it does make it more special that there are things you can find only in the parks- but it shouldn't have to be all one extreme or the other.

I am a little miffed at disneystore.com - just to add my two cents. They had a sale, but everything I liked was 'out of stock'. The prices listed for all those items were great though, had they been available. The very next day, after the sale, magically everything was back in stock, and the prices had increased by a good amount. So basically - it was in stock, but they didn't want to sell it at a discounted price. I was really irritated with that.

I've noticed that before, too.

That makes three of us. :animwink:

that has never been my experience at the NYC World of Disney. I find that it has MUCH better merchandise than a Disney Store, including tons of stuff for the home, lots of merchandise you find in the parks, and I love all of the collectable stuff on the 3rd floor--and NONE of that stuff is found in your typical Disney Store. They even have the candy they sell at the Disney parks...

Don't remember the last time I bought anything in a Disney Store, but I stop by the World of Disney almost every time I go to New York.

As a current Disney Store CM I just really want to remind everyone that the people working in the actual stores aren't responsible for the choice of merchandise offered-- we just put it out and make it look great and do our best! Trust me, I'd love a small selection of Disney housewares or a case of Mickey watches around the stores too.

Downtown Disney Orlando and Anaheim, and the park locations are better than NYC.

Actually when we last visited Disneyland, I thought the Anaheim version of The World of Disney was a serious let-down. Little better than your typical strip mall Disney store. Unless you were in the market for those spinny, shiny fan toys, cheap beach towels or "bedazzled" Mickey shirts, there wasn't much there of substance.

The Orlando store still has some adult items and didn't feel just like a giant warehouse for local mall stores.

So true. That said, I haven't been in a Disney Store in years, mostly because the selection was so poor. I'd rather save my $$ for my next trip!

We were there 2 weeks ago, and they had a lot of things the Disney Store (ours in the Phoenix area before they closed, at least, and the also one in Schaumburg, IL) did not have: Collectible figurines, kitchen wares, etc. I did see a lot of un-bedazzled clothes that I liked too (LOVED the sporty Minnie shirts), but as I said earlier, it doesn't make much sense to buy them right now  :o

Haven't been to the Orlando store in about 5 years, so I can't compare the two at this point.

The World of Disney store at DLR is pretty sad compared to the one in WDW. Of course (and I apologize for the brief thread drift here), DtD in general is a joke at DLR compared to the one in WDW. I realize there is no chance of Disney ever doing this, but since they got rid of the Pleasure Island clubs at WDW, I wish they would have just moved the concept to Anaheim and replaced all the chain stores in their DtD with PI clubs. Oh well, a guy can dream I guess.

On the topic of The Disney Store, though, I went into the one at our local mall last night (for the first time in at least a couple of years). It was horrible. Nothing like the Disney Stores used to be. It's very sad.

Not blaming you at all.
