So disapointed with the Disney Store.

The World of Disney store at DLR is pretty sad compared to the one in WDW. Of course (and I apologize for the brief thread drift here), DtD in general is a joke at DLR compared to the one in WDW. I realize there is no chance of Disney ever doing this, but since they got rid of the Pleasure Island clubs at WDW, I wish they would have just moved the concept to Anaheim and replaced all the chain stores in their DtD with PI clubs. Oh well, a guy can dream I guess.

Chain stores seemed to be even more out of place at Anaheim's DTD than they did at WDW. I wish they'd done something more unique. Fossil? Illuminations? Sephora? I did actually need something at Sephora  but I waited until I got home rather than waste valuable Disney time at a regular mall store.

At least chains make a little more sense at WDW, where you're a little more separated from the outside world, and where there is more of an international draw.

I love DTD in WDW for the atmosphere - but as far as variety in merchandise goes, you can buy a stuffed Winnie the Pooh at Pooh Corner or you can buy it at World of Disney - it's the exact same bear for the exact same price! :ROFLOL: I would welcome some variety. A long time ago, there was a terrific little store in DTD - Resortwear Unlimited? - something like that! - that sold great, non-Disney women's clothing. Alas, it's long gone.

You have to realize a few things:

1. The Disney Stores are not doing well right now. They're closing several stores, and close to filing bankruptcy (from what I've heard.)

2. It's less then a week left before Christmas and most of their merchandise has probably been picked out.

3. Every Disney Store carries different things. There are two Disney Stores near me, and one store has more of a selection then the other. The other one is smaller and you're lucky if you can find anything in adult size.

Why don't you try shopping at the Disney Store online?

The only reason I go into the Disney sotre is to 1. see my freinds who work there and 2. granted it's not the best but I get a little bit of a disney fix. I know that I won't be able to afford a trip to the parks anytime soon, so I go into the disney store to just look around at the decor & get my disney fix.

I still go into my local Disney Store whenever I'm at the mall. But I did think they would get better merchandise once Disney took them back.

I'll be patient and see if they do some more with the stores after the Christmas rush is over and they start losing some of the merch they have in stock.

But they really are abysmal. I went in to buy a figurine or snowglobe for someone, and my local didn't even carry one. Not one. Very sad.

The WB Stores used to be the best as far as a selection of items for a variety of people goes. But their brand of characters has fallen even further out of the public eye than Disney's has. Can't even find a Loony Toon on TV anymore, not even on the retro cartoon channels.

Ahh Bugs Bunny, one of my favorites growing up.

I wonder if they'd be doing better or worse had they kept the original concept- the stores were pricier, sure, but they appealed to collectors who probably spent a lot more per visit than the shoppers they are getting now. I guess with the economy being as bad as it is, it's probably a toss-up.

...because they cheapened their brand and oversaturated the market. They did this to themselves. The Disney Stores were in trouble long before the economic recession. Overpriced, cheap merchandise doesn't sell. Period.

The smallest stuffed animals and Hannah Montana playsets are probably sold out. :p

The Disney Store in Orlando (I forgot which mall it's in because I haven't been there in ages) is the same way. I guess they want to force locals to drive to DTD.

It is much better for collectibles, but it still lacks quality (and non-tacky) adult clothing.

We do shop Disney online, but when you can't get to WDW as often as you can the Disney Store is as close to scratching that itch as you can get.

For the last two years the Disney Store here was open I didn't buy a single thing at full price and I rarely found anything in adult sizes that were not ugly. I'd still rather have not lost our local Disney Store because it did have some nice sales on home wears and toys.

I've actually taken to making my own Disney inspired clothing because I'm fed up with the lack of "magic" and selection in their clothing. So far I've done some jeans bleached with a Donald Duck silhouette, a hooded shirt re-constructed from some Disney sheets and I'm working on a pair of canvas sneakers with Tinker Bell and the other Fairies on them for my niece.

Adult clothing and merchandise at TDS come and go. Christmas time is more focused on children's items because that's what the majority of guests are looking for. Other times of the years they will have more adult merchandise.

As for the store closings, I was at a Disney Store in Michigan before it closed down. Sad as it was (and now there's no toys stores in the mall) they had too many around the U.S. TDS used to be a destination for people wanting a little magic. Disney opened so many of them that the magic wore off. So now after the buy-back they closed a few hundred trying to get ahold of them once again.

A lot of the merchandise now is still from Hoop Retail owning it and it's finally running out. Disney has implimented their own items into the mix once again and by spring they should be back in full swing.

Because, like a typical guy, I'm out buying my DW Christmas presents the weekend before Christmas. Buying online requires planning and forethought, neither of which are skills that I posess.

Maybe they have one day shipping? I've purchased stuff online through disneyshopping.com (I believe), and it was very affordable and a much nicer selection then the Disney Store.

Thanks, but I found a nice Tinkerbell necklace at Sears and a Tinkerbell hoodie at Fashion Bug. So I'm in good shape.

I miss the Disney Store of Old. I worked in a store in the mid 90's and loved it. I especially enjoyed selling the Cells and other higher end goods.
