Snow White to get a semi-permanent meet and greet at the Germany pavilion

No even though Donald is one of my favorites unless Mexico is populated by singing ducks he doesn't belind there.

Figment is different he was an original character created specifically for Epcot.

And should Epcot not celebrate the creativity of the WS countries? As it turns out, the Snow White faerie tale was told for generations in Germany before the Brothers Grimm catalogued it. It could be argued that this enriches one's understanding of German culture. Not that most will "get it" in this regard, but that's one of the joys of a Disney park. It works on several levels.

I feel somewhat the same as you about Donald in Mexico, as he is not a part of Mexican culture. Plus, frankly, I don't think that makeover was done well.

I'm guessing you don't much like the Kim Possible adventure, as Japan is not actually menaced by robot terrorists and Dr. Draken doesn't actually maintain a lair in Mexico.

Snow White is set in Germany. WALL-E is set in futuristic earth and space, so no. Just as a Little Mermaid meet and greet at Mission:Space wouldn't work, but at the Living Seas would by OK.

Agreed for the most part.:) The only thing I take a bit of issue with is here...They have to do something besides the characters in Germany or as you put it, TLS. Integrating the characters into the teaching or exhibits or the entertaining is exactly what works. Not just slapping characters in there for the sake of characters.

Entertain, Inform, Inspire.:D Have the characters help.

I am an Epcot purist, and hatehatehate the Epcot Character Spot. It's annoying, and dumb, and my son always makes me go there. But putting characters in the WS countries, in an actually themed spot works for me. Reminding people that Marry Poppins and Pooh are British, that Remy is French, that Pinnochio is Italian sounds fine to me. I admit I didn't know that Snow White was set in Germany, but apparently it is (so confirms Wikipedia).

I agree about The Character Spot thing. I preferred the bus to it.

But Scott, you sited Wikipedia...

I think the point is that just by having a character from German folk stories, you are educating about German culture in some way. Most people won't necessarily get it. But I doubt most people order a beer specifically for the cultural enrichment either.

Well, I actually think teaching people that certain faerie tales comes from certain parts of the world and are part of the culture of the people who live there is itself informative. Imagine learning about Greece without learning about Greek mythology.

I agree that just slapping the characters here and there is no good, and you and I have both lamented the addition of Nemo to the Seas because the attraction is now too much about Nemo and not enough about the Seas.

Oh, no...I was just stating that in general. I agree.

She's also not Norwegian, Mexican, English, German, or from any of the other countries in which you can do a "secret mission" in Epcot. I assume then, that my assumption is correct, and that you are not fond of that attraction.

Not citing, as much as pointing out that this obvious piece of information which makes the whole "Snow White in Germany" thing much more logical isn't exactly a secret, even though I (and probably many others) didn't know it.

Plus, I didn't have my 25 volume encyclopedia handy...

I actually might accept this intergration if it were set in FW and stayed away from WS.

Maybe Disney could put a plague or something around the meet and greet denoting the historical aspect of the story to German culture.

Important one letter error there, Nick. I think you meant a plaQue.

Although putting an exhibit on The Plague in Germany would also have a certain amount of historical accuracy. :hammer:
