 OK, so I guess I am alone (except for Legacy). I just feel like she's still a kid. I have a hard time believing she's the one calling the shots.

*looks back at 19*

*shudders*

I'm with you Erika!
I know alot of people don't think Jessica can sing; but Hilary Duff is the one who can't carry a tune. I remember watching Jessica Simpson when Disney Channel used to have those concerts. Some are better than others (I caught Leann Rimes on the Disney Channel too!)

My point is this: Why do we continue to support people (ahslee, jessica, britney, lohan, and duff) that are simply NOT talented?

They are products of their fame: They are not famous because they are talented.

The whole situation irks me...

It's not people like "us" that support these people, it's the pre-teen, and teen girls of the world who support these people.

In the 80's it was Madonna - but Madonna could sing.

My biggest irk - she blames her band. If she was just going to "lip sync" the songs, why have a band onstage with her at all ?

She is famous, because she is "infamous." That's all. Even the limelight for brittany is fading. So much so, that she has to "invent" ways for the papparazzi to continue to take pictures of her, like practically running one over, and "crying" about it. paris "the " has to carry her dog around with her. They need the papparazzi as much as the papparazzi needs them.

She was exposed as a fake, and she can't live it down. If she can't handle it, then fade away, and try and come back to the spotlight when you can.

As I understand it, the drummer is the one responsible for starting the backing track. I have heard 2 different stories- one, that he pushed the wrong button, or 2, that he gave the wrong message to the sound guy. So that explains her comment that her band started the wrong song.

As to whether or not she has a band up there with her, I still don't think she is the one making those decisions. But again, I don't know that for sure.

Honestly, I'm amazed that some of you are so angry about her fame. At least she's different.

She's a clone of Amy Lee of Evanescence. Yeah, thats different alright...

At least Amy Lee can SING!!!!!!!!!

The styles sound nothing alike. Ashlee sounds more like Avril than Amy. Evanescence is the most unique sounding group since Linkin Park. She may LOOK like Amy Lee (which I really don't see), but you can't say they are the same.

Never said they sounded the same. But the look is a direct copy. Black hair (dyed), and same dress (literally a dress) style. Although there are idiots out there who label Evanescence as po(o)p and not rock. Oy!!!!!!!!!! :brick: :hammer:

See, I care more about the music. I really don't focus too much on what celebs look like (Amy Lee could walk up to me, ask to make out and then slap me), and STILL wouldn't know who she is. When I say that two performers are different, I'm refering to the sound. The look isn't the first draw.

(By the way... EVANESCENCE ROCKS!!!)

pop is the uppity kind of music. Evanescence sure as hell is not uppity!!!!!!!!!!!!! Listen to the lyrics that they themselves wrote. There's a clue right there that they are not pop. They write their own material, whereas christina had someone else write that song "beautiful" for her. Hell spears had Fred Durst write one of her more recent songs!!!!!!!!!! Not to mention when your first breakout single hits the rock stations before the "hits" stations...

No, I just happen to feel sorry for her. As I said she's basically still just a kid and know I'd hate for anything I did at 19 to follow me through life the way this might. Then again, lots of other performers (older and more experienced than her) have been caught doing the same thing. So maybe this will all blow over.

Just because someone else wrote their music doesn't make them any less credible as singers. I sure as hell wouldn't want to hear the writers of those songs singing them, I'll take listening to Christina's version of Beautiful anyday. As for Evanescence, they are about as manufactured as you can get...

BTW how can you people feel sorry for her when she is blaming everyone else for her mistake!? I mean I can understand if she flat out apologized for the incident and didn't blame anyone else, yeah then i might feel bad. But no she has blamed everything possible! ....and also it was not the drummers fault for god's sake!!!! The band actually were playing the right song, but whoever was behind the scenes actually started playing the vocal track for the first song. The band then switched over to play the other song. It was not their fault!

Erika: I really enjoy when you post your views. It gives a more caring side to the issue. It made me think, was I being too hard on her. Yes I might be focusing on the wrong person. Maybe it’s the industry I should take issues with. She got caught in the middle.

People are pulling her strings and she is following. They are telling her she can sing, how to dress and to lip sync on SNL. The only thing we can blame her for is following their suggestions. Maybe she is not talented but the industry is willing to expose her to make a profit. She wants to be a star so she is falling for their tactics yet they are not looking at her best interest.

I'm not an Ashlee fan by any stretch of the word....I have a variety of musical tastes running from Coldplay to Prince to Nirvana to Depeche Mode just to name a few...but Ashlee Simpson is not one of them.

That being said...I think many of you are using the unfortuate incident on SNL to bash Ashlee Simpson...I agree with Erika...I'm sure she has someone pulling the strings for her...and for whatever reason that person decided it was best she not perform live that night.

I did not see either the SNL performance or the Radio Music Awards performance...but it's been my understanding...that she made it quite obvious that she performed live at the Radio Music Awards...not only that but by most account she did well with her performace. Granted she may not have done well by your accounts...as your biased in you all prefer rock to pop...from what I have heard...it sounds as far as the pop Genre she did a good job.

I repeat again...I in NO way feel sorry for Ashlee Simpson.

Here's why:

Simpson publically bashed all "lip-synchers" in a magazine interview. She's a hypocrite. She's a liar. She acted in a classless and juvenile way.

Yes, her RMA peformance was probably live. That doesn't hide the fact that she sounded like absolute garbage.

How we can assume that Ashlee is the VICTIM? She got caught in the lies that she tells.

I have no doubt that she is not fully in control of her situation. However, she has a brain. Once in a while it helps to use it...

I'm in no WAY berating the validity of pop music. There have been (and are) a lot of talented people under this genre. I'm just so tired of industry manipulation and mainstream lies. People pay a lot of money to see Britney Spears in concert to essentially see her dance to a pre-recorded track. Is that right?

I truly hope that other "stars" will take this event to heart.

ps: Static, hate to break it to you...Evancescence is a pop-rock band (just like Linkin Park). I'm not saying they aren't talented (I don't like them personally), but they infuse elements of pop and rock into their sound. That's why so many of their singles are radio-friendly;)
