Snack price increases?

There has always been people that could not afford a Disney vacation. The class warfare card isn't valid.

Yes, there have always been people who could not afford a Disney vacation. But when the number of people grows significantly, and folks who previously enjoyed the parks without worrying about price gouging start taking their hard-earned dollars elsewhere... then maybe Disney has a problem. Or maybe they don't. Or maybe they don't care.

When families (like ours) now have to go to WDW and actively plan our entire day around finding something to eat that isn't outrageously overpriced, then there is a problem. Disney knows what it's doing by putting snack carts in the parking lots because there are a lot of folks heading home at the end of the day hungry.

Having to jump through hoops to get into the parks, then jumping through hoops to avoid being gouged on food prices is somewhat less than magical. Sharing drinks and and entrees to stay within budget only goes so far. And at some point lots of folks like us will simply move on. Which is sad but it's exactly what DisCo wants. It's a symptom of a much larger problem in our society and a sad sign of the times we live in.

I guess it's more about peoplle being shut out of their vacations. It saddens me. But hey, not to worry there's more room for you! So who cares?
Starving children in Africa and animal abuse saddens me. Little Timmy not being able to go on Dumbo I'm apathetic about at best.
With that mindset, you could run into a forest fire and have a wonderful time! Let us know how that works out.
Forest fires and a five dollar ice cream snack aren't the same thing.

I don't think you know how metaphors work.

Disney HAS a problem, They supposedly want the 'elite' customers yet are only willing to provide Motel 6 levels of service. Where at Disney today can you get even 'Sandals' levels of service and luxury, That's right NOWHERE on property.

Disney management has been blinded by greed, They have been strip mining the investments made by prior management teams while contributing NOTHING to the growth of the parks just herd the cattle in and take em for all they've got. Keep cheapening DVC till we have the sorry excuse for villas in the Poly yet charge highest price ever.

This is about lining the pockets of management, I really pity the next management team because they are going to have to rebuild the Disney brand with NOTHING on hand just a couple of assets which are declining in value and some Movie IP

If world starvation is such a concern of yours, why not take the money you are spending on your upcoming vacation and donate it to a worthy cause?

Why don't you buy your neighbor and ice cream bar? Or fund their vacation if it's such a concern to you?

At the end of the day, a Disney vacation is a luxury that almost none of the world's population will ever experience. So, while I don't agree with the price increases, I can't find a lot of energy to be upset on behalf of someone else when it comes to their inability to pay for their vacation.

At the rate Disney is increasing prices, I don't think #1 or #2 applies. I just wonder if these are the actions of a financially sound business. Up sells and price increases are announced almost daily.
I know this is a small focus group, but hear me out-

I am in 2 FB planning groups for November and December. Great group of people bouncing planning ideas, and sharing their vacation experiences. Many of them did/or will be doing plenty of up sell events. I only did 2- JBJB dessert party and MK EMM. Plenty of others in the group were actually able to get Holiday Wishes Dessert Party (it's been sold out for quite some time), and quite a few also did EMM, JBJB, and Club Villian. I did not see one person complain about them, in fact they all gave great reviews.

The new SW 7 hour thing would have been perfect for my family, and definitely will be in the future. They are options that can enhance a vacation, that's all. If you don't do them it's not the end of the world or a horrible vacation, I still had a great time at MVMCP even without the dessert party.

We used to enjoy the Mickey bars, but at $5.00 each, we now carry a snack with us. Crazy....$15 for the 3 of us to have a ice cream. And they shrunk them down to boot!

I was concerned that this was next. Increase the price and shrink the product. I will have to ask my wife if she thought the ice cream bar was smaller than in the past. I thought I had saved a wrapper (yeah, yeah... don't judge me, I love the stupid things, what can I say) from years past, I'll have to look around and see if I actually did.

If snack prices are increasing, you can bet that things like Plaza ice cream prices will be increasing, too, if they haven't already. In fact, I would expect across-the-board food price increases before the start of 2017, when the new Dining Plan comes online without a QS dessert but an extra snack credit to compensate. Once again, it is looking like DDP changes mean cash customers take it in the shorts.

Yeah, you can bet that if someone is online talking about something at Disney being a good bargain, Disney will be on it in record time.
