Snack price increases?

I believe this happened a few months ago. I remember the Mickey bar/Sandwich going from $3.25 to $3.75 to $3.99 to $4.99.
After the last hike, when I was craving an ice cream sandwich, I just stopped and got a box on the way home. (12 for $5 LOL)
I know that's not an option for everyone.

I certainly won't be buying them in the future at $5 a pop.

It's no contest when a Plaza ice cream sundae is only $0.39 more.
For now...

We were shocked at how much we spent on food this past summer. We've been going twice a year for 15 years, so we have plenty to compare it to. It was never cheap, but it also never bothered me like it did this time.

Incremental price increases are expected. Lately it's been well beyond that. Sad times when you make good money yet find yourself getting priced out of a Disney vacation.

I find the counter services in the parks to be outrageous. You might as well do a sit down now! $15 for a crappy counter service burger vs. $20 for a better one at a sit down? At least the resort food courts are still more reasonable. For now.

So true...that's one of the many frustrating things about all of this--jacking up prices but not making enough effort to appreciably increase the quality. If I could get a Sci Fi or Plaza level burger and fries for 15 bucks (I'm assuming they haven't ruined these yet, I haven't been in 2 years) at QS, that would be acceptable for me. A gristly, often-cold Cosmic Rays or Pecos Bill one for 13 bucks? Get bent.

I see the Citrus Swirl is still only $3.79. When they raise it to 5 one would hope they would at least bring back the old big plastic goblet and retire the sad dixie cup they've been putting them in.

I think some people just live in a world where everyone has endless streams of cash. Unfortunately for Disney, that's just not reality for most.
The only way this could become my reality is if I started scamming people to earn a living. Maybe I should brush up on credit card fraud.....kidding!

That's a great attitude, but there are people who are being priced out of a Disney vacation. So this advice won't work.

An alternative - my advice for @Luxe is that they should enjoy their visit today, knowing that any future trips are likely going to cost 25+% more (or that they would have to downgrade to maintain their current level of spending).

I'm reasonably sure that food prices have increased substantially faster than hotel or ticket prices for the past few years.

It's also easier to raise food prices, because most families don't think to look at those costs before they arrive. And then it's too late. I mean, you can see up front how much your tickets are going to cost, and your hotel, and your transportation. Almost nobody checks how much a typical quick service meal is going to cost their family.

Exactly that. It's a stealth increase. But people do notice once they are there, and it impacts their plans on when and if to make a return trip.

I get very concerned about the rising prices of commodities and their effect on folks without the financial means to procure them: gas, medicine, food.

Disney vacations...not so much.
I was only talking about the realities of families visiting Disney, nothing else. I guess if it doesn't effect you it doesn't matter. I understand.

We were in WDW for 10 days in November and noticed the increased prices of snacks. I refused to pay $6 for a yummy pretzel in the parks. I did find at Disney Springs, Wetzel's Pretzels has theirs for $4.75, so got one there. We used to enjoy the Mickey bars, but at $5.00 each, we now carry a snack with us. Crazy....$15 for the 3 of us to have a ice cream. And they shrunk them down to boot!. We did eat at Liberty in Epcot once or twice, but at $13 for a hamberger (not including a soda) doubt we'll do that again.

When it come to a Disney vacation...yeah pretty much. It's none of my business if the guest next to me can't afford an ice cream bar.
But just relax and enjoy! Don't think about those pesky little credit card bills!
You shouldn't be going on vacation if your credit card bills are a worry.
