Snack price increases?

Disney... Please stop.

I bought an AP two years ago and at the time I was a pure pixie duster. Now? Not so much. These kinds of ridiculous price increases and non-stop "premium" experiences are absolutely reducing my view and nostalgia for the parks. Every day they announce a new dessert party, or premium transportation, or premium parking, or etc... While these experiences don't directly affect me, just seeing Disney dig in the dirt for every penny they can squeeze is ruining my outlook of the parks and company. Rather than getting immersed in the world, all I see are cash-making opportunities.

They WILL eventually price themselves out. $5 is pushing it, but could you imagine paying $10 for a Mickey Bar?

Their desperation for padding the bottom line is getting disgusting.

No but with an even $5 the likelihood of someone paying $10 for two is significantly increased

Very true.

$5 isn't horrible actually, when you consider their pricing, as much as I hate to say it. I just can't wait to see the day when sodas and water are all over $5-$10. But I actually think they can go that high and people would still pay. They know they have you.

Well, the magic is endless you know!

You bring up an interesting point. Disney debuts their latest money-making schemes, "Express Transportation" and the 3-Hour Monorail Cocktails & Appetizers Tour, and is now apparently increasing snack prices just after bringing out of their newest slogan - "The Magic is endless". I guess those who poked fun at it, saying "only if your bank account is endless" and similarly themed posts are turning out to be a bit more prophetic, aren't they? "Your WDW vacation is MAGICAL, but it can be MORE MAGICAL!!! For just a few dollars more, you can experience MORE MAGIC!!! And if you get MagicBand 2.0, there's EVEN MORE MAGIC in store for you!!! (Magic is subject to change and availability, prices subject to increase at a moment's notice)"

As a huge fan of Mickey ice cream bars, I think $5 is about the point at which I seriously consider whether or not they are worth it. They were a great treat at the previous $3.25 & $3.75 price points. At $5, I'll still enjoy one, but probably not more than one (when in the past I'd have one per day at the previous prices - I walk more than 20k steps per day at WDW, I burn one bar's worth of calories off and then some). Are they $6+ good? I don't think it's likely that they are.

It'll be interesting to see if snack prices drop in January.

I can also confirm both the Mickey Premium and the Mickey Ice Cream sandwich are both now $5. I was at DHS the other night craving a Mickey Premium until I walked up to the cart and saw the price.

Clearly this is just an OPTION for those who want these refreshments. What do you care if you aren't eating them?? Why is everyone so negative... if you don't like the price, don't eat there!!

I guess I'm not a normal guest (customer). I will pay $5.00 for a Mickey Bar... but just once per trip. I used to have one per day. I've known for years that it was nothing more then a Dove bar with ears, but, traditionally I always enjoyed having one as often as I could. It has nothing to do with affording it. If I can afford to go there, and extra $1.25 is not going to break me, but, it just seems like a bit to much. I wonder if any of those accountants have gotten their adding machines warmed up and figured out what the profit on 5 Mickey Bars @ $3.75 is instead of 1 @ $5.00? Seems like volume works better for stuff like that. Sure they still will sell some, but, I'm thinking that it will not even be close to what they once sold. Good luck to them.

Big surprise here-- I don't have a huge problem with this. We had several on our trip..or at least kiddo did. I had 2, which was still very unfortunate for my waistline.
I think the price point is comparable to ice cream at amusement parks and other venues. Bottled water is still reasonably priced..comparably. If they raise that then I'll be upset.

Shocking, to say the least. :banghead:

Is it sad that I literally burst out laughing when I read this? This just gets crazier by the day, it's incredible... It's honestly hard to believe any of this is ACTUALLY happening in the parks. I'll be there in a few days to see for myself I guess, I'm prepared for the worst.

Don't be. If you look for negatives you will find them. Just go and have a wonderful time! :)
