And everyone is completely ignoring the REAL reason for the price increase - to make the nasty DDP look like a good deal to the masses. So they can sell more overpriced meal plans. Then that $5 Mickey bar is covered in your DDP cost and you think it's worth it then.

But what if i have free dining ???? does that make it better or worse value ?

Wow, bad analogy. I never said that they have to split. Only that it is ONE option out of many that will help defray the high cost of food. Did you even read that I completely AGREE that the prices are getting outrageous???????
Please show show me where I said you did not agree with prices getting outrageous. Dont build a straw man. I was simply pointing out that you (more than once) cited your cost saving strategy as some form of justification. But since you want to discuss what you said, lets review......

And that is where some of us disagree.
You claim you agree with prices getting outrageous, yet this is your response to @David2319 's post in regards to severely high prices. Make up your mind. And please dont say that you were referring to "overall value" because in your response to me , you said that you agree that "prices" (that "s" on the end makes it plural, as in more than one) are getting outrageous

Worse if you're a party of 2. Take the room discount!!!
Oh I absolutely detest the dining plans, and wish they would go away. They have really hurt a lot of the restaurants, and people like us that the dining plan never works for how we eat there. We use the TiW card to save our 20% on food and beverage. And that brings most of the prices to more tolerable levels.

Here's an idea, go ask a few kids. Give them the choice between Disney World without those things, or not going to Disney at all.
Get back to me with your polling results.
Yes, because children will always be truthful when given an ultimatum such as that.

Even better then.
Off topic story, but here goes-

I had the DDP for the last 3 nights of our trip. Changed my mind shortly after my TA booked it. (Within 5 days) but unfortunately Disney said they weren't able to change the reservation. So I was stuck.

At check out I was left with - 1 TS meal. 3 QS meals. 3 snacks.

Talk about throwing money down the drain!! Ugh I was sick about it. Traded in all of them for a few cupcakes, rice crispy treats, fudge, and Mickey cake pop. Our Uber driver dropped the bag of cupcakes when we arrived at the airport. Had to throw the 4 of them away.lol. Frustrating.

That's where being a parent comes into play. If your child can only be happy with loads of souvenirs from WDW, several ice creams, and several character meals, then it's time to look at how you are raising them. It's not their fault at that point.

I can agree that the food prices are getting a bit ridiculous, but still feel that our over-all vacation value is excellent. Yes I can say over-all because food is really our one major cost. We spent LESS this year on our APs by going with the Gold Pass which suits us just fine. Being DVC, we don't pay the high prices for resorts. So yes, again, I can say that our over-all value is still there, while agreeing that the FOOD prices are getting a bit high. If you read my latest, you will see that I stated we use the TiW to bring the TS prices more in line with what they should be. My price"s" statement was ONLY referring to FOOD and NOTHING else.

I like the DDP in a very specific context. Sometimes, I travel with my parents, my sisters, or my in-laws. If we have multiple rooms, we get the dining plan on one of the rooms but not on the other, then share the credits over the course of the week. It works out to the perfect amount of food.

I was able to get a lot of 20% off discounts with my AP this year, sadly not on alcohol. Between the food and merchandise savings it did add up though.

Did you not claim that when you were in Tomorrowland you bought your child a "stupid" light bulb necklace for $15? By your own admittance, you found the purchase "stupid" but you paid for it anyway. Why is that?
