Because I choose not to, and the side effects of so far the nicotine patch (ironic) for me has been extreme tremors (couldn't even write) and nausea, when used as prescribed no smoking with it on. Doc said it was a bad reaction and couldn't use them.

And I choose not to walk past a smoking area with my kids. Listen, I don't mean to be blunt or mean but, I argue the same thing all of the time. Why should I have to submit to your habit. If you want to smoke, do it at home, close your windows and do it in your car. Why should I have to close my windows and in some cases turn off my A/C in my car because you want to smoke. I'm in favor of it and I am the type of person that will politely remind someone that smoking is not permitted in the parks. My kids, wife, and I don't need to ruin our health over your choices.

Aww so I guess the guest would need to choose between their addiction, a substitute (nicotine gum or patch), or another Theme Park that offers in park smoking (such as Universal for now)

You would think it would be that easy, but if my one encounter during my last trip is any indication, it won't. I'm a smoker, but I try not to smoke in the parks. I did stop by the new area off of Space Mountain where I encountered a few people who were ed that they had to be corralled into that small section to smoke. One of the people there started talking to me, complaining about Disney's cost and for having to be forced into the smoking section for what they are paying. It wasn't just the expected grousing - I sensed a real anger at Disney from a few of them about it, which makes no sense. These weren't one timers, or day guests. They had merch from DVC and DCL. When they asked if I agreed with them, I said no - that the number of non smokers outweighs the number of smokers and that we should be happy to at least have a place to go if we wished to indulge. I just got quizzical looks in response.

It's just one encounter, but I am sure people will still be lighting up and collecting together to form their own smoking sections. For me, I'll be buying more nicorette.

No, like any other prohibited item that guests try to bring in, they'll get a choice -- dispose of it here, or take it back to your car.

Maybe. Unlike other prohibited items it sounds like there will be a designated area for use outside the gate. And not all guests will have a car (arrival by monorail, boat, skyliner etc.). Again, I have no skin in this game... just a “process person” genuinely curious how they’ll implement this.

Cameras don't cover 100% of the park and again even if the camera operator sees someone smoking it takes time for security to arrive, its not super easy to enforce.
Easier to encourage people to use a dedicated location and to provide sensible information upfront.
You don't need to have security physically catch them, you just need security to go up to them and tell them they saw them smoking on camera and its not allowed in the park. Word will get around. The perceived threat of being bounced will be all they need. Plus its private property, i'm pretty sure they can kick you out for whatever they want without giving a reason.

Like the other poster said, the same way they do other prohibited items. No different from a person with no car trying to bring in a selfie stick or large knife.

Well, we all know they can't let people carry their fix in with them, because we all know that despite promises heaped on oaths, smokers/vapers will use their products in the parks. So the only other option besides disposal will be installing lockers outside the parks.

If you vape, you should do so in the smoking areas. Just because it's "water vapor" and "not smoke" doesn't make it invisible, especially people who use those pens that release a cloud larger than a reactor cooling tower.
Just what's in vape juice, anyway?

And that's what you choose to do.

Especially with many states not having any regulation, the vape companies are using this to sell. Even though there are now incidences of people getting popcorn lung. You cant say something is safe just after a few years. Heck, smoking did that way back when when doctors pushed it. And look, cancer rates significantly increased. I bet in the next 5 to 10 years, all this supposed SAFE vaping, we will see an increase of diseased lung.
