I have an MP3 or two on my computer at home. Check Mousebits, they probably have it.

Are you guys referring to the music played in the area of the Skyway station? If so, I haven't found it at Mousebits. I'd love to have it if anyone is willing to post an MP3.

Interesting they would do this right before the busy season. They should have started in January in my opinion.

Wonder what the construction duration is.

Unless the construction wall goes around the stroller parking I guess it wouldn't really interfere with guests or traffic flow anyway!?! The area is not used except for the stroller parking.

I do wonder what they will do about stroller parking in the new design, though. That area does hold quite a few strollers for the FL bound!

I need to explain myself better. That was exactly my concern. I know we parked our stroller over there on our last trip. 40K a day are about to descend on the Magic Kingdom and they just took away one of the largest stroller parking areas in an already small and crowded Fantasyland.

Yes, well, that would be a concern!

I can't see them blocking off the stroller parking now... can they!?!

I haven't seen it on Mousebits -- maybe I'm looking in the wrong place.

I would love to have the "Bathroom Polkas" on my iPod.

Well they can always move it over to the new Princess meet and greet they want to put in where Snow White used to be. Just about as worthwhile a use of that space!

They saved a bunch of money and time repurposing the old 20k foundation with Mermaid. Here's hoping that they will retain some elements of the Skyway as I noted in the other permit thread.

OK I'm confused. How are they re - using the 20k foundation with Mermaid? The lagoon was filled in and completely removed. As was the show building/cave type area. Or so I thought?? I don't quite get what this means.

Two of the original walls of the show building (the north and east walls) were not torn down, and were subsequently re-used in the construction of the new Mermaid building with only minor modifications.

They can be seen in aerial shots on Google Maps and Bing Maps.

Maybe the foundation underneath where 20,000 leagues was. I don't think that the utildors run underneath 20,000 leagues, but it may damage them.

Shame really...the old Skyway building was charming scenery.....though I understand the logic in its removal.

Yea I agree. I hope they put something in just as charming... even though they'll just be bathrooms.

I wonder how long it will be before some nutcase chains themselves to the old Skyway building.

I wouldn't be surprised. I read most of this thread so long ago I can't recall, but have we had anyone bemoaning the loss of this Skyway station with the usual, "...that Skyway station just always screamed DISNEY to me and I cannot fathom the park without it...it won't ever be the same and I will refuse to ever set foot in that park again...instead I will flagellate myself with this reproduction Dumbo trunk that I hand crafted from Walt's own tears..."?

Well, that just DISGUSTS ME. That Skyway station is so beautiful and fits in so nicely with the area. Why do they have to knock it down. They could easily use the existing structure and add and move walls around to make it work. It makes me sad to see this thing go. I was hoping to contact management to get in there (yes, its been done) and get some awesome shots for a project I'm working on. I need those pictures, but won't be able to get them as I'm only going down there in May. :hammer: I'm sure by then it'll be halfway done into bathrooms. :fork:

I hate it when they make changes like this. Replace beautiful with toilets. UGH

But I mustn't get too angry as no official plans have been released. But if they do level the top of that building it will be sad. Its just so pretty. Last remnants of a Fantasyland that was. It's changing so much. I'm surprised IASW hasn't been demolished (insert sarcasm here) :ROFLOL:

As much as I'm anxious to see the new expansion of Fantasyland, I hate the fact that their now gonna demo 2 original 1971 attractions (Skyway & SWSA). Here they are celebrating 40 years and they're getting rid of 40 year old buildings. Kinda ironic.

Both skyway stations demolished for RESTROOM purposes!! What is this blatant disregard for original theming, park history, classic attractions! It's truely sickening :cry:

Whoever makes these executive decisions should be OVERTHROWN. Disney desperately needs to get back to basics!
Made it all the way to page 2 without someone complaining about this one.
