Skyway Station Area Redesign

Eh? Is there more to this then we know?

Eh, I'd just read that as "why should we tell the Cast more than they need to know right now?". Especially when the "future use" is just bathrooms.

The area of the North Garden Wing at the Contemporary was still listed as being "for future development" when Bay Lake Tower was already a few stories tall...

It's About Time

One of my biggest complaints about the Walt Disney World property is all of the unused, abandoned real estate. It's like a shopping mall with a bunch of empty storefronts: depressing and cheap. The more TDO overhauls the empty buildings (Wonders of Life, Odyssey, Imagination Pavilion... :animwink:), the better.

And don't forget the legendary years, that was the biggest eyesore.

And now, 10 years later that is being taken care of. And I do have to say that what they are doing with the property now (Value Family Suites) is probably better than what they would have done back then.

So sad, the building looks beautiful. It is too bad they can't find a way to redevelop it without destroying.

There is nothing they can do with this "building" -- in fact, it's not even a building -- it's all a false facade for the old skyway ride hardware -- there is no real "building" there -- it's a stage decoration....

It IS somewhat pretty -- but it is a complete waste of space...

True, what they were going to build was just another value resort using their 90's design. The suites are going to be hopefully better than what is on the other side of hourglass lake.

WOL needs the work next, it is a showbuilding doing nothing.

It has walls and floors, it is a building. They could turn the bottom portion into bathrooms, if need be, they can expand the building to fit that need.

And what if they keep the same design theme, but build new buildings that fit what they need them to? There's going to be a waterfall, stream and pools. The alpine theme would still go. There has been no concept art released, nothing beyond the site plan that was leaked. We have absolutely no way of knowing what the new construction will look like, so I wouldn't get up in arms about what's coming until we know what that will look like.

If they keep the alpine, whimsical look, it is better than nothing. My concern is that what will be built will be a different theme.

As long as it is themed to Fantasyland, I think it will be fine. A good of a job as WDI is doing in theming areas lately and how amazing the concept art for the FLE looks, I really don't think we're going to get a concrete block restroom building painted gray there. It may be different but sometimes, different is better than what we have now. I trust WDI to make it, whatever "it" is, look like it belongs wherever "it" is placed.

are there any photos of the walls up or will someone be posting progress of the demo?? sad to see it go, but hopefully they'll keep the theme. The Swiss/Alpine theme is beautiful!
