a.k.a. The Adventures of Pascal TR

Intro:
Welcome everyone to my very first trip report! Ahh!!! All week, I’ve been trying to be good and wait to start on my TR until I got my lesson plans for school done (they’re all due tonight), but… since I’m currently at work and am at a place where I can’t do any work on my lessons until I’m out of the office, I figured that posting the beginnings would be a good idea! :lol: As you may have read in my Pre Trip Report, this trip has definitely been a long time coming… a 4 year wait for me in fact! I was told that if I didn’t write my trip report for this trip, I would be “disowned, unfollowed, and shunned”… thanks for that one Kenzie!

In the midst of the trip, we got to celebrate both of our birthdays and Valentine’s Day, so it was a magical experience indeed.

So without further ado:

The cast:

There’s me, Courtney, who turns 23 tomorrow (AHHHH!) and this was my 19th trip to the World… and then there’s my wonderful BF, Dan, who turned 23 the day before our trip (Feb 12) and who is lucky enough (or not) to spend his first WDW visit with me!

There was a third member of our cast as well… a mischief stowaway by the name of Pascal!

The dates: February 13 through February 17, 2012


The resort: Pop Century

They were not kidding when they called that burger the Gigantosaurus!!!!!!! I have to say though I think I like T-Rex better than Rainforest...even though it's owned by Rainforest or operated by them same difference lol

So, onto dinner… we ate in the Ice Caves right in the center, and our waitress’s name was Mafe (one of the very few times I remembered the name lol).

And, we got to sit near this guy here (Sam_Disney, which one is it?!?)

My Dinner: Layers of Earth Lasagna (mmmmm, mouth watering just thinking about it!)

Oh, and well… we can’t forget dessert, can we? They came out singing to us and everything! We ended up getting the Chocolate Extinsion because I’ve seen pictures and it looked good. But, it was the first time of many that we wished the other two from the original trip plan (Leah and Eric) were there with us… it would have been the perfect size for us four.

O my gosh.. I am so hungry now!!!

We loved loved t rex! and James loves the lasagne!!

I thought we were going to get lost trying to find the ME since it was our first time using it but thankfully we didn't. It was 1am and I wouldn't have been a happy camper had we meandered about trying to find it!

LOVE the view from the top of Everest! EE is awesome, even when the Yeti is in A mode, B mode or even Z mode!!

POFQ is super pretty. I want to stay there in Sept but alas, we are booked at All Star Sports (which is fine. That just means save POFQ for "next time!!")

Never eaten at T-Rex. I love RC though. Their Planet Earth Pasta is so yummy!

Can't wait to read the rest! You and Dan are adorable

#1 - HAPPY BIRTHDAY LADY!

#2 - The pic of the first bend at AK - with the waterfall? Amazing. Probably my favorite pic of Everest I've ever seen!

#3 - We ate at T-Rex 2 or 3 trips ago and we loved it as well. The Chocolate Extinction is really a fantastic dessert - far superior to the VOLCANO at Rainforest Cafe. And that lasagna looks awesome!

Can't wait for the rest!!

Great start to your TR! We love T-Rex!!! IT's such a great atmosphere! We have eaten there twice and both times we were all well satified with the food.

Let's see... what's he interested in? Dan really likes learning about back stories of rides and such, so before we left we watched the WDW Modern Marvels episode. So, when we were down there he was like "oooh, that's what they meant when they said so and so!"

Don't overload him with characters right away. Our first day, we didn't go anywhere near a character at all (sad sad day) until we saw Fantasmic! that night, but by the second day of the trip he actually asked me if we could meet someone!

Resort hop. The resorts are just as impressive as the parks, and it will start the "let's stay at this resort" conversations. :wave:

Oh, and that T-Rex food looks delicious...might need to make an ADR there at some point. :slurp:

Good stuff! I know all about the early morning flight with no sleep. if it wasn't for the excitement we wouldn't have been able to function.

Where did we leave off? Oh yeah… T-Rex, how could I forget? :slurp: haha! The next part of our night we left up in the air until after dinner so that we could decide how we felt. Both MK and DHS were open until 11 that night, so we had a few choices (and there was also the choice of going back to the hotel to actually get some sleep in our systems for a change). In the end, we decided to do another quick resort hop and headed to

Boardwalk is definitely a resort that’s on my must-stay-at list, and Dan declared it one of his on first look. Granted, I think the close proximity of bars may have something to do with that :lol: but… we then decided to hop on the boat and head to DHS to catch Fantasmic! since we knew it was the first showing night after the refurb. On the boat, the skipper sang happy birthday to us and then serenaded the whole boat with his rendition of Puff the Magic Dragon. I extremely enjoyed it!

Finally, we were back at my home. I’ve missed this park more than anything in the past four years, to the point that I’ve had nightmares that they changed my beloved Tower into a Disney Junior ride for little kids (I swear, I woke up screaming and crying after that one. Worst. Nightmare. Ever.). But, being back was definitely an experience for me… I have a feeling that my face did one of those “glowing” ordeals. You know the one, right?

This next picture makes me giggle so much... it’s just a “in the moment” photo that you can’t pass up!

We decided that we would try our luck with the second showing of Fantasmic! at 8:30 instead of the 7pm showing since it was 6:45 when we walked into the park. Instead, we headed towards Pixar Place to do one of the things that we were both really looking forward to spending some quality time in…

It makes me think of Meet the Robinsons, which is definitely one of the cutest movies I’ve ever seen. Back story with my love for that movie: MtR came out my senior year of high school, and I was in Disney on Spring Break with my bestest from childhood. Louis and Wilbur were greeting, so we jumped right in line… and I asked Wilbur to be my prom date. He graciously accepted, so I told him to call me. He never did

We spent a good bit of time wandering through the exhibit, exploring all the various signs and items, and then went in to watch the movie. By the time we were done, we decided that we still had a little bit of time to go line it (I think it had just hit 7 by then), so we headed over to Star Tours 2.0 for our first ride! YAY! We’re both huge Star Wars fans, so this ride was a must do – several times over.

I took a few queue photos, but later rides ended up better, so I’m only going to show this one:

Our ride started out with the Stormtroopers and the droid stopping our vehicle from moving to declare the rebel spy… lo and behold, both of our faces showed up in the picture on the screen! We squabbled a bit over who’s actually the rebel spy out of the two, but our voyage was off to Hoth for a chilling adventure. After we finally got back into space again, we had a transmission come in from Yoda, who told the ship that the rebel spy was extremely important, and that it was up to everyone to get “her” to safety, and pointed right at me. So ha Daniel, I AM the rebel spy! hehe. Our coordinates took us to Coruscant, where we finally landed to safety.

After our landing, we ran into this guy outside:

EEEK! He’s coming to find me! Quick, let’s hurry up to the Fantasmic! line!

My Tower, what a beautiful sight at night

We were in line halfway down Sunset (the first show was still going, so the line started at BatB), so we decided to take photos while in line to pass the time. And I chatted with someone nearby (a CP going to see Fantasmic! for his first time), as well as tried to find a way to meet up with a friend of mine who works on the Great Movie ride (didn’t work).

Oi vey! Finally, we were on our way in and got to pass under the lovely sign.

Found some seats in Row P between Ursula and Sebastian (yes, I do remember that detail for some odd reason)… and Dan is back on his phone! :lol: I have so many pictures of this, but I swear I was on mine so much more than him!

After the show was over, “we” decided to head back to the hotel to get some sleep – in reality, Dan was walking with a deliberate step towards the exit, and I kept turning around and staring back at my Tower… it was right there, why couldn’t we ride it? It said 20 minutes! Alas, he had a point about sleep, so I followed him to our bus, and got to sit under this wonderful sign

Why is he such a wuss in the modern realm? It’s not fair! Stupid David. Ugh. *Grumble grumble*

And that is the conclusion of day one (wow that took forever lol)… stay tuned for Valentine’s Day in the Magic Kingdom!

And sorry that this was such a short update this time around... I have some cleaning to do and really want to take a nap (Still haven't recovered from birthday festivities last night, which ended with Dan having to take care of me. :hurl: yuck) before Dan gets off of work and we go out for our first post-Disney date!
