Since IOA has apparently removed the dragon theme from dueling dragons,...

...is it any more likely that Disney may build a dragon themed attraction for AK like the one they had planned for Beastly Kingdom. This is the main reason I have heard why they wouldn't build it, but now since that theme has apparently been removed for something more Potteresque, that door seems to be open if they want to use it. What does everyone think?

Are you refering to DAK's dragon attraction or to one that may be more in the vein of the main villain in a movie that was recently released on blu-ray?

Source?

Last time I was at IOA was Aug. 19 on my vacation, the Dueling Dragon theme was quite prevalent.

When did Universal and IOA remove the theme? If the theming was removed, that's quick -- less than 2 months.

Source is the actual park. You can look over the fence and see that the dragons are gone. That whole nice atmospheric courtyard has been pretty much destroyed. Not so much the whole dragon theme... that will more than likely go when HP construction is nearing an end, but the two enormous fire and ice dragon statues in front of the ride have been removed.

Ah, thanks Mark. Well, maybe there is a plan is in motion to replace / upgrade / incorporate the dragons once construction there is complete.

I do have to say that when walking through that corridor, it was quite tight with all those walls up.

Just glad that Universal decided not to close the ride.

Look at the thread linked below. In post #9 Matpez placed a link to a picture where you can see that the dragons are indeed gone.

I agree. They built that new footbridge fairly quickly.

The ride is being cannibalized by The Wizarding World, so perhaps they'll use dragons of Harry Potter? I'm not sure, but I will surely miss the original theme and the Lost Continent before it was crippled.

Such a shame that one of the best themed queues in theme park history is going to be changed. Of all the work that IOA needs, I don't think that changing the theme of DD should have been anywhere near the top of the list. But they are pretty desperate right now and Potter is really the biggest thing they have ever done. If this is a hit, they can take a nice chunk away from Disney, especially with European guests. But if the reaction to Potter is subpar, who knows what will happen to the resort.

Lets not jump to conclusions. I can see both themes working since there are no dragons in the que...

They can certainly make it work, I just question spending money on changing something that needed no work at all. Seems like a bit of a waste to me, but maybe they won't change a whole lot and can make a cost effective change.

Dueling Dragons = Triwizard Tournament Ride (ie: First Tast, Dragons)

The Wizarding World will be a hit, I have no doubt. As for Disney's recent decisions, I'm afraid I cannot say the same.
