Simon Cowell leaving American Idol

Man I've been getting my facts wrong lately on here.

What's the difference between X Factor and American Idol then?

From the clips that I've seen very little. There is an element of judges mentoring certain artists and the judges seem to have the final say on who stays and goes home, but again this is just going off of You Tube clips that I've seen. Obviously I've never seen an entire show.

Basically rather than individual artists, there are 4 categories, singers over 25, boys, girls and groups. Each judge mentors and chooses songs for there section and then there is a competitive edge between the judges as well as the competition between the different types of artists. It's a great show and personally I think it's much better than American Idol or similar! I think it will really take off in America as there will be more talent to choose from and give an opportunity to those who havent been able to get into AI for years (groups etc).

Idol is running in some variation in 42 different countries, Simon Cowell isn't a judge in the vast majority and they are still successful. Surprising as it may be, others have filled the role of caustic-wit judge and American Idol will likely [and probably quite easily] find an adequate replacement.

What he said. I only began watching AI three seasons ago. I look at it as event television. When they kick out a star, they are really a STAR. It's fun to see the human drama, talent, trauma, and success played out on a national stage. At the end of the day, there are talented people singing with a shot at superstardom. Tons to gain and lose.

I haven't seen AIE. But I imagine that I would like it. I like seeing people perform and compete. People I know have gone and really enjoyed it. Why does that make some people really angry? I really don't understand the incredible debate here on AIEs "worthiness". If you don't like it then don't go.

The new prize is a free churro!
Last time I had a Disney CM offer me a free churro for beating his score on BLAB, he just gave us more FPs (that we already had enough of). And thus the Great American Churro (Or FastPass) Buzz Lightyear Astro Blaster Challenge was born.

True story.

Prediction: Universe of Energy's Ellen animatronic will be moved to the American Idol Experience... She'll make a guest appearance at each show and will give guests tips on how to sing "better."

Prediction: The American Idol Experience will close in three to four years...

Well, I watched a minute of AI thinking I was gonna go '.' and turn it off.... well... I watched the full 2 hours and sorta loved it.

With that said, I really and liking the Randy Cara and Simon team. They know what they're talking about, they're entertaining, and they complement each other. And Posh was also pretty cool- and IMO is much better than Ellen would be- at least on paper.

I really hope Ellen doesn't try to put her jokes into every single sentence on the show. She was an awkward judge on SYTYCD- I'm almost a little apprehensive about seeing what she can bring to the table.

Because Disney used to build timeless, classic attractions. TSM will be around for generations. AIE will close shortly after the show loses popularity. The same thing happened with who wants to be a millionaire. They need to stop spending money on pop culture attractions and leave that to the competition.

The problem is, DHS lends itself to these types of attractions - What I hope is that they continue to cycle them through much like the did with AIE where the franchise/property foots the majority of the bill, they work with Disney on the product/content and Disney gets a new attraction every 5-7 years or so at minimal cost.

Around 40 countries run versions of Idol without Simon Cowell... Quite successfully.

What makes Americans so myopic?

Because we are the GREATEST NATION ON EARTH!!!

All others only aspire to be us. They also have contributed nothing to the world.

We are the center of the universe because God (the Republican version approved by Rush Limbo) so ordained.
