How many "shows" does one get to do in a typical day? And how much rotating of jobs within the GMR do you do every day? I'm loving all this "insider" info.:D

It can vary by day. I've done as few as 4 show in a day, and as many as 16 shows in a day.

As for rotating, you usually rotate every 20 minutes or so.

LOL, I bet you are.

Anyway, the amount of shows I do as a Tour Guide varies every day, depending on what I get assigned from CDS. For example, I did 6 shows today (4 with the Bandit, 2 with the Gangster) but I have done as many as 8 shows and as little as 4 shows a day. It's just luck of the draw. Same thing with rotating our jobs. There are days I'll do every position I am trained to do, other days I'll only do about 3 or 4 positions (there are about 8 positions alone the Tour Guides can be trained on).

Actually I found it a little easier when they learned to walk....

I liked it when I could put her somewhere and walk around, and she'd sit there. When she got mobile I got NOTHING done around the house.

Of course, Bunny! Don't know how you'll decide between me and Jo. We're both pretty good Tour Guides, if I may say so myself.

Love to! You weren't on GMR when we were there in Jan, so we'll have to visit this trip!

Ah, but how cute was she?
I remember a video of her when she first started. She looked impossibly little to be walking. So adorable!

Very cute. And she was SO small... and then she was small and bruised from all the tumbles she took. :dazzle:

Lord help us. I do hope he's walking by our trip to the World in June, though. I want him to walk to Mickey...assuming he's not scared :dazzle:

He's 8. I really think it'll be awhile. So far when he "cruises" along the sofa, if he's going for something else he just falls forward. He doesn't get that you have to move your feet.

She didn't get they you had to move your arms to crawl. It's fascinating, watching them realize how the simplest things work. And it's only a VERY short time in between walking and RUNNING.

I honestly don't know that he will ever walk. Even now when I hold his hands to help him walk he tries to go so fast :dazzle: Poor Husker...

Hello Dot!

Pretty good, my weekend is tonight and tomorrow as I have to work monday-sunday for the next 2 weeks!:brick:

Yeah I would say so, where is she staying?

Bun, you make babies sound like dogs! :ROFLOL:

You've got to train them just the same! :lookaroun

She's staying at Pop. Should be interesting!

How do they determine who does what? Luck of the draw? Rotations?

LOL, I bet you are.

What are the 8 positions? I've heard something about a Casting Director? What's that?

Ya know we never asked this many questions when Rach worked in food services at MK or Jo at TSMM, I think it's funny that we all seem to be so interested in GMR:lol:

Hmm...train them my mother says the same about men....:lookaroun

Computer. The computer comes up with the assignments.

The other positions include valet (stroller parking), front usher (greeter), head usher (the person who arranges the ropes in the pre-show lobby), casting director (the person in front of the doors, who makes the pre-show speil), ADA/ADB (the person/people who load people into the rows), tour guide (the driver), among others.

Heh. Man on the run!

My poor girl.. she's just not coordinated. She gets that from both her mommy and daddy..:dazzle:
DH keeps saying that w/ the enormous hands he has, he's either going to be a quarterback (I've already vetoed violent, concussion-causing football) or a pitcher. I keep asking him who he thinks he's going to get the athleticism from, neither of us is athletic

Yes, it is luck of the draw mostly.

Casting Director is the person in preshow who directs Guests into the loading area. The other positions are:

ADA/ABD- the people who actually group Guests to be loaded onto the vehicles

Tour Guide-Obviously the ones who give the tours

Front Usher-greets Guests at the ride's front entrace

Head Usher-Stands in preshow and controls how the queue ropes are set up as well as direct the wheelchair/GAC parties to the proper entrance

Side Usher-Only used if we have to use the side doors as an entrance during busy times

Valet-Helps out Front Usher by interacting with Guests, parking strollers, and retrieving FLIK cards

There's so much more guest interaction there... TSMM is all about shunting people into vehicles, and QSB is just "Want fries with that?"

I'd LOVE to work there... either that, or the Safari. Except that I'd hate to drive and talk... so probably GMR.. or maybe ToT

Don't blame you at all. Jo and I love being at GMR. To us, it is the best job we have ever had.

I know, I can't even believe it!

I remember when I saw him last summer. He was so tiny then! And now...he sure has grown

That's because the GMR is COOL! :lookaroun

TSM is just plain craziness. Plus, it gets really repetitive after awhile.

I love the interaction at GMR.
