Should we expect any major announcements regarding WDW at D23 expo next month?

I am really hoping that they don't announce any more meet and greets. I know they are cheap people eater, but if they are trying to get more of the teen/ 20's market this is not the way to go. Look at the WWOHP at Universal, you don't meet the characters, you have an experience with them during a dark ride. I think this is they way Disney need to go if they are willing to spend the money.

Dark rides can be enjoyed by both children and adults. I am thinking of TLM or the new mine train ride.

It seems that even Mickey/Minnie and the Princesses new meet and greet area is not overwhelmingly popular.

Just my 2 cents...

Don't worry, the meet and greet announcement happened on the Disney Parks blog today...

Agreed, this is definitely what is needed over anything right now! I can go to MK, Epcot or DHS in the morning, come back to my resort and rest for awhile and return to that park later in the evening to do what I missed. With AK, this isn't even possible. There just isn't enough to not get it all finished in one trip to the park. I would be extremely happy with an expansion of the park that included 1 or 2 indoor attractions, a new animal exhibit, a shop and a place to eat. And if they want to really push me over the top, do something with that train they have! Its so different and interesting but it needs to take you somewhere more exciting than Rafikis Planet Watch and have more interesting stuff to see while your on it. Cover the behind the scenes buildings with fake rock and foliage and show me animal exhibits while Im on it.

Ok, first off, I agree with what you're saying right up until you start about the train. While I don't disagree there should be something more to the train than it currently is, it is also intended to be a behind-the-scenes look at some of the animal support buildings, so I disagree that they need to cover that, I have no problem with that particular aspect.

Ahh, and here we have come to the big problem with this board and it's infernal use of abbreviations. I thought you were referring to Bay Lake Tower.

Nevermind...

Actually, I'd love to introduce that BLT - Bay Lake Tower - to the wrecking ball. Maybe build something which doesn't clash so dramatically or obviously with the Contemporary Resort next door.

No way! The Bay Lake Tower is awesome!

And it does not clash with the classic Contemporary building.

Then you're not doing everything there is to do at DAK.

It is physically and chronologically impossible to see every show, ride every ride, walk every available FOH path, and dine in at least two F&B venues for B&L or L&D between an 8:00am EMH and 5:00pm closing time at DAK. I'm not saying that YOU aren't done with it after a couple of hours, but that you are only doing the things that appeal to YOU. You are not doing everything there is to do.

Half-day parks only exist for short-sighted people.

For those of you who are wishing for a 5th gate just remember what Bob Iger said 5 or 6 years ago... "No new theme parks in Orlando for the forseeable future." I tend to believe him and I don't think 5 or 6 years is beyond the "forseeable future". Just sayin.

I'm probably going to get some negativity to this, but i hope some of you can understand what i'm talking about. I would honestly rather they didn't build a 5th park for a long time. They need to fix what's broken with the ones they have first and add new attractions to them before going overboard with new parks. As it is, they neglect maintaining the parks they already have, i'd rather they focus on what they have than build another new park that they'll just neglect down the rode as well.

I don't think they'll announce any plans to fix stuff at the event. Unless it's a total redo of an attraction. I could see something like Imagination 4.0 being announced at such an event, but i couldn't see them announcing that they were fixing the yeti. The latter sort of announcement they'd probably not talk about. Doing so would force them to admit they made a mistake and are having trouble with maintenance (which is well known, but not something they're going to fess up to). If the yeti or any other broken attraction assets are ever repaired, i don't think the Disney company are going to announce it. It'll probably be downplayed. Different from an entire attraction overhaul or whatever.

I agree with you, except remove "for a long time".

Animal Kingdom doesn't hold guests, DHS still needs work, Epcot has shrunk, and MK needs refurbishments.

I totally agree. I'd rather see them update, repair and expand upon the 4 parks I've already come to love instead of a 5th park. There is so much to expand upon already I don't think they need it yet.

I wouldn't mind a fifth park, but i could do without it. And i don't want it if they can't even fix/expand what they've got. My sole concern at this point is improving what they already have. Only when they max out these existing parks and fix what's wrong with them all do i think there's a valid case to expand the resort with a fifth park. And i'd only want it if it's something worthwhile. There's just way too much wrong with what's already there to even consider a fifth park IMO.

Maybe we'll hear about new resort possibilities...Maybe a refurb of a couple o rides....

I'd love to hear about more expansion...maybe even a glimpse of that possible Frontierland idea we've been hearing about?

i know everyone will be mad at this who wants the 5th gate but what are they gunna make it if it isnt night kingdom. they already have the land of fantasy in magic kingdom, the world and future concept in epcot and in mk's tomorrowland, they have represented life in hollywood movies or whatever u wana make DHS out to be and the wide world of animals is represented in Ak. think of the ammount of attractions, resturants, chataters and bathrooms(this is suppost to be some kinda skyway bathroom joke) they would have to make fit into a new park. if night kingdom doesnt happen then what else is there?

My guess is this:

One big thing gets announced for each park, and maybe Downtown Disney.
MK- Spectromagic Returns
Epcot- Brazil for Worldshowcase
HS- MI Coaster and removal of Hat
AK- Big Expansion

I would say that more things are announced, and some are built, but the rest is under a "coming soon" banner.

Add the new Test Track and The return of the old Tiki Room and we would be on the same page.

Jungle Trek is definitely dead from what I hear. It was an ignorant idea to begin with. - "Let's have a park that caters to the upper 1 percent of the population during the great recession!" No, that's as bad as a Sports theme or Eisner's idea of a theme park around factories. (And, some people actually think Epcot is boring?):)
