Sorry...Never was that much of a fan of cardboard cutouts masquerading as a dark ride.

hmph. . . don't know what you are talking about. Mr. Toad had plywood cutouts! :ROFLOL:

Sadly, The Country Bear Jamboree was probably BETTER in 1971 than it is today. There are probably not any other Magic Kingdom attractions (certainly not former E-Ticket attractions) about which that may be said. :lookaroun

I agree with what someone said earlier, WDW has so much for each different group. I will admit that I'm not a big fan of CBJ anymore, but I remember it being a favorite back in the day when I was too young/scared to go on splash mt. with the rest of the family. So me, my mom, and grandma would watch it and enjoy it. MK and WDW is big enough, why should they get rid of it when there's room to build whatever the want all around? It could sure use some updating though, I went and saw it last month for the first time in years and couldn't help but smile remembering all the songs and bears and what I thought about the show as a kid. So I vote for keep it, but update it.

Taking the Bears out of WDW would be a MAJOR sin!

All they really need to do is continue to keep it in good condition and bring back the Xmas and Vacation show overlays.

I would move The Country Bear Playhouse back to California, put Pooh's Hunny Hunt in its Florida place, and bring back Mr. Toad's Wild Ride where Many Adventures is now.

Correction: WDW's Country Bear attraction came first, DL's came later. It never "moved" to WDW from DL. It only got copied at DL.

Pooh would be VERY out of place in Frontierland. Not only that--the space that the Bear Jamboree occupies is WAAAAAAY too small for another attraction to go in its place!

However, I still agree that DL's Country Bears still need to return.

I would not mind seeing it replaced by something else, but based on the comments here I think Disney should keep it.

There is no need to replace the bears especially with all of the abandoned attractions, restaurants, theatres and boat docks in the Magic Kingdom right now.

Fantasyland Skyway
Diamond Horseshoe
Adventureland Veranda
Walt Disney Story
Tomorrowland Theatre

20,000 Leagues Under the Sea for 15 years? up until... right now.

Swan boat dock
Keel boat docks

Come on people! Modern audiences? Who cares? It's different and that's what Disney is all about. If a snotty 15 year old kid thinks it's "uncool" to watch then so be it, let him listen to his ipod while it's going on.

There are a lot of reasons to keep this. For starters what else do you put there? It fits the entire theming of Frontierland. Secondly, do you guys honestly think the show would be better if there was a more "modern" style of country? I don't. Something about Shania Twained country just doesn't fit with that bear crew. It's fine the way it is. The sound could be improved sure, but the Yeti at Everest is still broken and about a million other things could use some TLC.

It's a 1971 original. There are precious few of those attractions left at WDW. Disney isn't Universal, Disney has a knack for building AROUND other attractions without getting rid of them. Plus with DL's Country Bears gone this is the only one left. And come on, corny as it may be that's the charm of this show. If corny innocence is not your cup of tea why in the heck are you in WDW?

Lastly, I have mentioned this before. My dad and my grandparents first visited WDW in 1973. To this day my dad never misses out on Country Bears and he's 66. I never knew my Grandpa but apparently this was his favourite and in a way the show reminds me of someone I never met. Why wreck a good thing when some rides mean so much to so many people?

I love Country Bears! I think it should definitely stay.....it is a classic and I think it is great just the way it is! :sohappy:

I absolutely think it should stay. It's original and almost unique to WDW (except for Tokyo), and it's cool that Marc Davis' country show concept was revived even when Walt's planned ski lodge was axed. Plus, I love Melvin, Buff, and Max, and hearing Thurl Ravenscroft's voice in the show. :D

And even if you're not a fan of the show, what completely new attraction could they realistically put in the show's little footprint? You'd never be able to fit a ride in there, and Lord knows Magic Kingdom has more than enough locations for new restaurants...

We did this attraction once many years ago and haven't since. It's just one of those that we walk right past. Something new in there might be nice, who knows?

For all those haters you need understand the culture it represents, mountain culture. Go and try to play a corn jug, first drink the corn squeezin's it gets you in the mood, try your hand at the mouth/jaw harp or the spoons. Don't forget the washboard. Then you can appreciate the show more and understand the importance of corn squeezin's.

Maybe throw in some Hank Jr., as an update.

My dislike isn't a rejection of the culture or the music, but rather the fact the technology which was amazing in the early 70s (the bears looked so real!) doesn't inspire any awe or wonder in even the young children today. Well, maybe a few, but not most. Time has caught up to the Audio Animatronic stars of the show, and great things are demanded and expected of Disney. :king:

Maybe if some of those corn squeezings were handed out during the preshow . . . ;)

But seriously, the same arguments that are made against Mr. Toad's Wild Ride apply here: The technology is outdated and the characters aren't very marketable. Funny that Winnie the Pooh replaced the Country Bears at Disneyland, just as he replaced Mr. Toad at the Magic Kingdom. As much as I liked Mr. Toad, there is no question that Winnie the Pooh is a more beloved attraction for the age group to which it is marketed. If Disney announced tomorrow that it was replacing the Country Bear Jamboree with Woody's Roundup Jamboree, starring Woody, Jesse, Bullseye and Stinky Pete with audio animatronics of the same quality as Stitch in Stitch's Great Escape or Captain Jack Sparrow in Pirates of the Caribbean, people would go nuts for the replacement. :king:

Wow, very true about Woody's Roundup Jamboree! Regardless of how classic Country Jamboree is, this would be a big hit!

Sorry to all you CBJ fans but I just don't like it. I know it's a classic and I can apprciate that. I just can't watch this show as an adult. The animitronics are outdated the jokes are painful, and the sound system(as of my last visit) is terrible.

I don't know since I'm a city boy, but I even think the representation of the Appalacian people is a little unnerving and might be considered stereotypically unfriendly.

I wouldn't mind a Woody's roundup kind of show to replace CBJ.

Well, last time I was there, it pretty much scared me to death. It was... weird. I get that it was awesome in its time, but I think I hear the "death rattle" so-to-speak for this outdated show. I would be ok with a major overhaul and update, but I would be just as happy if it disappeared. Maybe they could put a sort of tribute area to it, but other than that I think we need something new in there. Hard core fans will say no way, I love it. But in all honesty it hasn't been relevant for a long time now and I think Disney World needs to keep up with the times. That being said, I would have a freak attack if Horizons came back. The Bear Jamboree though? Its a pass-her-by attraction to me.
