Shaking Down the Fantasy and Three Encounters with a Dream!

When: March 21-26

Where: Coronado Springs for two nights and then a three night cruise on the Disney Fantasy

Why: This was a special cruise for agents from Disney Earmarked agencies. A shake down cruise if you will. It was preceded by a day of conference activities at WDW.

Here’s my cruise docs!

Who: My family came this time! If you've read any of my trip reports you know that m family can't always come. Ds is in high school, dd is in middle school and dh is in the Air Force. Not that people in the Air Force can't go on vacation, but he tends to be in really busy jobs that don't work well with the - "Hey, there's an awesome travel agent special in two weeks", or "I haven't been to Disneyland in 9 months and need to go this month to get caught back up" kind of trips. :)

But this one was too good to pass up! A preview cruise on the brand spanking new Disney Fantasy! Disney doesn't have any new ships in the works so this opportunity wasn't coming along again any time soon. We decided it was even worth taking the kids out of school this time.

It was. Really. No matter what their report cards say next week. :lookaroun

Even better, we had a room for 5 so ds brought a friend. You may recognize friend from my Alaska trip report this summer.

Here’s ds and friend in the Mr. and Mrs. Potato hats in Oceaneers Club:

You'll also see Pam - owner extraordinaire of Kingdom Konsultants and her family. Here’s Pam and her dh:

And Missy (polymissy) who brought her hubby! They’re showing off the butter knives I was coveting:

Disclaimer – I took a lot of pictures of the Fantasy when I toured it in New York City back in February. I didn’t duplicate much, so here’s that report if you’re interested in more pictures of the ship:

Our room was ready a few minutes late, no biggie. It was huge (by cruise standards) and wonderful!

We had some awesome gifts on our bed. I loved that these were personalized to our cruise. Last time we just had some Inaugural Dream stuff. Still cool, but these felt more special:

You know those times where the Disney magic hits you and you just kind of tear up a little?

That just happened in Psyc class - good think I'm in the back.

Fantasy looks UNREAL so far! The teen pool deck is sweet, and I love that the chandelier is different!

This is bringing me joy =) I love your group, too!

Tammy,

This all looks so awesome. I'm sure your kids had a blast (want to adopt another kid). Can't wait to see more.

Thanks, Kris! They did! It was so great. :)

I do Kenzie! I know those times exactly. And I am not a senimental gushy person. It hits me when I least expect it.

The Fantasy is unreal. I am seriously in love with it.

Oh wooooow! Lookit that swag! Y'all got some great goodies! I agree, it totally ups the collectability factor when the items are personalized to your specific sailing. It certainly eliminates a lot of the flood to eBay, huh? LOL! You say they're selling the red pillow??? OOoohhh....Pleasepleasepuh-leeeeeze tell me they're selling the Animator's place settings! I'm begging!!!!!! My old Mickey dishes are so much more tired than they were last September. 'Specially with the move to Houston coming up, I'm gonna neeeeeeeeed some fresh dishes to make me feel all ooey-gooey...

M-kay! I'm totally not going to the buffet (Cabanas/Topsiders) on embarkation day for lunch anymore. I'd soooo rather do the sit-down option. And OMG! The ice cream cooler looks so yummy! I must resist. I've got to get at least 12-15 more lbs off in just 5 weeks! Grrrr.... But seriously, the more I see/read about the sit-down on embarkation day the more I'm assured that's the better choice for us to kick off our cruises.

I love that you all went to visit each of the kids clubs during open house. I think we'll do this next time, as well, at least when we're on the Dream/Fantasy next. I'm absolutely dying to get a pic of Tracey with the giganto Rex. He loves Rex. Vibe looks super-cool, still. I wanna hang out in there so bad!

Love love lovin' every minute just like you know I will. You're getting me so psyched for next month! Woohooooo!!!! :sohappy:

I agree! Excellent swag this time. They only had the plates and butter knives (!) that I saw. I did get two butter knives! :)

I always prefer the sit down option on embarkation. Especially on the Magic and Wonder since Topsiders/Beach Blanket can be a bit crazy. I want to sit down and have relax while someone else gets my drink! Kind of silly I know. :)

You definitely should visit the kids clubs. Although some things look too fun to leave!

You are soooo close!!:sohappy:

Knowing how much the plates were, I don't think I even want to know how much the butter knives are going for. :lookaroun

Not silly at all! I'm with you. I'd rather have a quite respite, a calm before the storm if you will, and let someone else fetch my drink. I'll be helping myself to enough of them later. Right? Relax is my middle name when we hit the ship!

I know! So close! The FE sign-up is cut off and I've got all my supplies secured. Time to get to craftin' my little fingers away. So fun! :D

Ooh so fun!!

The butter knives were $6.95 each so I only got two. Not a bad as I feared. You won't believe what the pillow was going for!!

Eep, now you're scaring me! Am I going to need to start socking away money for pillows like I do for Dooneys? It's a sad day when they can sucker us in to buying almost anything that makes us feel like we're at Disney/on a cruise!

PS Kelly, I would be shocked if you "needed" to lose 15 lbs. Pretty sure you're a booooomb mom. I'm laughing here thinking of Monsters Inc Laugh Floor.

AHAHAHHAHA.

I need sleep. Love ya both.

Well, dadgummit! $6.95 for those butter knives isn't so bad. Well, okay, maybe it is when you require a setting of 10-12. The pillows...hhhmmmm...lemme guess.... $99.99???

I know, right?! I haven't had my hair done since before Christmas and my nails done only once since Christmas. I'm like hoarding every nickel I can just in case I need to be bad with the souvenirs. My only comfort right about now is that I'll be on the Magic and they prob'ly won't sell that stuff there. Hopefully. Or maybe I hope they do. :hammer:

Thanks for the boooomb-mom thing but sadly, I blew up like a balloon since our last vacation. It's harder and harder to keep the bulge at bay as I get older. Remember this. Write it down. Commit it to memory. I, too, could put down an entire large pizza & 6-pack of beer when I was younger and never be phased. My size 6's never even flinched. When shopping I remember seeing size 12's & 13's on the racks and thinking "What kinda moose wears THAT?!" God hears your thoughts. I now know what kinda moose wears that....as well as larger sizes.......... Things change.....

loving the trip report so far, tammy! so glad to see you have already started posting. that ice cream cooler looks AMAZING! what a glorious way to display ice cream.

i love your pictures of the teen club. is it sad that i am seriously contemplating trying to pass myself off as a teen for my next cruise so i can hang out there? the sad thing is, i could probably get away with it. the only bad thing would be that i would be seen in the teen section and the adult section buying booze so i don't think that would work out too well.

can't wait to read more!

I know! We all loved the ice cream display. So cool!!!

It is not sad because I would like to do the same thing! Sadly I could not pull it off. From seeing your pictures though, I think you could! :)

This is great! I love to read your trip reports, not just for the awesome photos, but I guess the fact that you have the same older son/ younger daughter thing as we do - makes me think I'm looking at what my family vacations will (hopefully!) look like in a few years. :)

I laughed so hard at your excitement over your son deciding he liked popcorn shrimp two years ago. I. feel. your. pain! Only for us it's flip flopped - my daughter is the picky one. And my son will eat anything. Doesn't the fact that your daughter will eat so much more make you feel vindicated as a parent? Ha! :D I feel that way all the time when people are like "Seriously, she only wants chicken nuggets?" (pretty much her only protein besides milk.) That's when I point to my son and say "But he eats anything! And I swear I parented them the exact same way." And then I feel like adding, "So there. I'm not a bad parent." but I don't. :D

Maybe once they're grown we could marry them off - they have so much in common - parents who love Disney, a random college football team connection, they are super picky eaters who only eat 5 things....... I'm sure the 10 year age difference isn't weird at all.

But back to the Trip Report - I really like your picture of the Fantasy chandelier. At first it wasn't my favorite - I liked the bold red of the Dream's much better. But after that shot, I'm leaning more toward the Fantasy.

Looking forward to more!

ETA - Oh! And I'm hoping for a shot of how you got 5 (essentially) adults in that room. We had that exact same room and I wondered where you would put the 5th person/ where the 5th bed was!

I know the answer to the 5th person mystery! Not all the big family verandah rooms have them but at the end of the room closest to the sliding door where the chair is there's a single Murphy bed that folds up into a cabinet. When the bed is made it literally crosses the room from one side to the other essentially blocking off the slider door. Does that make sense??? :D
