Being a thrill ride is not what is required to make an attraction astounding.

I think this will be astounding. I've always wanted to go on a trip through the Seven Dwarves mine. I've always wanted to step into their cottage. I want to go on a fun ride through the Snow White story that I can take my niece and nephew on. A more fast-paced, adult coaster would go too fast to really incorporate the Snow White story.

I think this will be a big hit. I just wish we didn't have to wait until 2014 to ride it!

You're likely not getting most of that. The coaster is landscaped, but mostly outside, not in the mines. It is an experiential attraction, not the story of Snow White. Just a day careening through the woods and mines (but mostly woods) like the dwarfs.

Yup, that's exactly what I was trying to say. My last sentence was meant to be a bit sarcastic, I'm sorry if it seemed kinda confusing haha.
But Fantasyland is not about trying to be astounding without being thrilling. It's nice and some parts will likely be really nice, but nothing truly amazing in the world of themed entertainment.

I'm not quite sure if I understand what you're saying? I know that Fantasyland isn't about being astounding without any thrills, as there are and have been a few "thrills" in the past (Mr. Toad's Wild Ride, Snow White's Scary Adventure). There's no question about that. All I meant by wondering why people expected the new coaster to be thrilling was a lot of people thinking it'd be as thrilling as Big Thunder Mountain Railroad or Space Mountain, which it definitely won't and was probably never intended to be. I agree that Fantasyland can be thrilling in its own way, I just don't think it would or should be thrilling in the same way as, say, the three other mountains in the park, which are geared primarily towards older visitors.

I'm sorry for being so confused!

Anyway, I do agree, there's no doubt in my mind that the mine coaster will be very nice. It may not be the milestone most of us were hoping for in themed entertainment, but I have a feeling that it'll become a favorite and a classic over time!

It's not about the Snow White story...it's about the 7 dwarfs.
I do agree with your sentiments, but according to all sources it has been cheapened...it should have been similar to Splash as far as show scenes are concerned. Has the company line gotten you so blinded that you cannot see what would be better?

It will be interesting to see what the height restriction will be. The entire Fantasyland area is designed for very young children. As I recall, the Barnstormer is the only existing ride in the area with a height restriction.

Are you sure about that? From the video it looks like its going to be half and half. Half inside and half outside. I would think that they would put more aspects of the Snow White story into the ride.

From what the insiders around here have said, there is two inside show areas on the ride. One includes the second lift hill and is quite large, so it will take up a lot of the time on the ride. The outdoor portions are more likely to be the faster, swaying part of the ride, so even if they are a relatively large part of the ride, they will be a smaller portion of the ride time. There's also going to be some scenes outside as well, like the "dwarfs walking on the log" scene from the move.

I think the indoor to outdoor time will likely be close to 50:50, maybe a bit more time inside when it is said and done.

Yes, the coaster will not be fast, but it is slow enough to enjoy and be able to take in all the scenery and characters but the swaying/ rocking of the carts will make it a bit thrilling withought having to be fast.

its been stated numerous times that this will be between the barnstormer and BTM, i think that this will be a very good attraction. But how many scenes were originally supposed to be in it, and how many was it cut down to?

I have heard this ride compared to barnstormer a lot on here. If you look at the construction photos and/or google maps the footprint is 4 or 5 times the size of barnstormer. It's a little smaller than BTMRR but not much. If the ride ends up being nothing more than barnstormer it's a huge disappointment. I honestly can't see how that is possible, but like you said I have heard that comparison a lot of times on here, but mostly from people who are generally negative about FLE and/or WDW in general.

The comparison to Barnstormer is just a point of reference for the intensity of the ride. It is not being compared to either the length or level of themeing of Barnstormer. I would say the themeing of the mine ride should be closer to BTMRR then Barnstormer.

That makes a lot more sense. I would agree with that expectation. I would not expect this to be an intense ride at all, but the theming and detail should be pretty amazing.

personally from watching many of the development videos, i think it will be a little faster than what many people believe, i think the outdoor parts will be a light thrill, and the indoor show scenes will be slow paced, like in the videos. Like Splash....but on a much much lighter scale.

I voted NO because too many people are expecting too much from this attraction. This will be a "C" ticket dark ride that sways a bit. Too many people are expecting a wild "E" ticket roller coaster ride.

Everyone talks about E vs D vs C ticket rides. I assume Splash, Space and Big Thunder are the only E tickets in MK. What current rides are classified as C ticket?

Personally, I find the whole ticket thing very subjective. When Magic Kingdom first opened the E-Tickets were:

Pirates of the Caribbean
Jungle Cruise
Country Bear Jamboree
Haunted Mansion
Hall of Presidents
It's a Small World
20,000 Leagues Under the Sea
Space Mountain

I doubt you would find anyone today who would put Pirates in the same category as Hall of Presidents or Small World.
