At some point the racing track will be torn down in MK to make room for a new ride in tomorrow land. Didn't know what would be going there.
The Racing track will be rethemed to cars at DHS, along with another family friendly ride ( monsters coaster, crush coaster maybe?) it would give Pixar place three rides.

Here is what I'd love to see happen:

* Remove the Speedway and free up a lot of valuable real estate in MK's Tomorrowland for a new E-ticket on the TL side and a new E-ticket on the FL side.

* Build Cars-themed Go-Karts for the kiddies at DHS and have that little area themed to the international adventure in Cars 2, where they went on the race around the world. Don't recreate Carsland from DCA, but instead have this area at DHS themed to look like the Cars-characters are filming the Cars 2 movie and the Go-Kart race would be the sets of the Cars movie. This way you make it have a "behind the scenes" feel and also give people the Go-Karts that some people don't want to see go away.

This could replace that stunt show that's at DHS that is supposedly very expensive.

I like having the Monsters INC door coaster in that area too. That would be really fun.

So at the end of the day, we only get one new ride out of FLE -- right?

Dumbo doubles in size, Goofy gets moved. The Mermaid dark ride replaces the Snow White dark ride, and we get one new kiddie coaster... eventually.

I'm glad they're adding on to the park, don't get me wrong, but... I feel like the kid in The Incredibles waiting for Mr. Incredible to actually be incredible.

Well, Goofy wasn't moved. It's in the same spot, but rethemed a bit.

Anyhow, I agree that it would have been nice to see another 1-2 rides out of this -- off hand, why not a BatB dark ride in the area instead of Gaston's (they could have added a Tangled themed area somewhere with the Snuggly Duckling if they wanted a "tavern") or a Sleeping Beauty dark ride on one side of the 7DMT? There is a lot of room and they could have done more.

That said, they are greatly increasing ride capacity, which is a good thing. Dumbo now has twice the capacity, TLM is a high capacity ride (especially compared to SWSA) and the 7DMT will at least be another ride. (As an aside, can we stop it will the constant "kiddie coaster" comments? 7DMT is a "kiddie coaster" like the Matternhorn is/was -- accessible to children and less intense, but surely far more entertaining for all ages than the likes of the Barnstormer. Saying it's a "kiddie coaster" implies that is is something that adults wouldn't even be interested in without kids and I don't think that will be true at all given the schematics we've seen with the show scenes and the swaying component.) Casey Jr isn't a ride, but it certainly is an attraction that will be entertaining to many visitors and occupy them.

Plus you have Scuttle's Scavenger Hunt for entertainment and there is a lot of new M&G's added that will be well themed and soak up crowds. The return of Ariel's Grotto, the Belle M&G and the Fairtale Hall will all be very popular and the hall should especially accommodate a lot of people since it is multiple rooms. Pete's Silly Sideshow is also there, but that basically just replaces the former M&G tent, so it's not a net gain.

The space across from dumbo that was originally going to be pixie hollow is for me the biggest waste of space. That could have been a new attraction but no, they decide to add tents. I understand that it helps signifigantly to to the theming of dumbo but their are many other classic disnyey movies that only really fit in fantasyland and need a home there ( ex. sleeping beauty, cinderella). Thats is what bothers me about storybook circus. Not dumbo the tents.

There's always the possibility that down the road they can replace those tents with rides (or even put a circus themed ride inside one of the tents, namely Pete's Silly Sideshow since we know they wouldn't want to lose merchandising space).

Now I do get that not everyone is about rides, rides, rides.

But for most people -- myself included -- I go to a theme park for the rides, rides, rides!

Restaurants and play spots are nice bonuses and all, but that's not why I shell out thousands of dollars every year to visit a Disney park.

I want to experience the incredible attractions Disney has become known for (or had -- past tense -- depending on your brand of 'pixie dust' I suppose).

And when John Q. Public hears about Fantasyland doubling in size, the natural assumption would be that the number of rides will double, too.

And that's far from being the case.

After hearing about DCA's extreme makeover, I can't help but think that many families will venture down to Florida expecting the same kind of thing... only to be met with a bigger Dumbo, 1 new dark ride, and a bunch of gift shops. Oh yeah, and another roller coaster... some day.

I'd be underwhelmed. I am underwhelmed. Again, I do appreciate that they're doing something... but this is Disney. They can do better.

Just an opinion.

I would like to see SGA replaced by a Wall-E themed ride/show and in DHS, like you, a Monsters INC. themed roller coaster and I would personally like a Toy Story themed motion simulator ride, like the Honey, I shrunk the Audience show and a few other Pixar Place rides.

I think it'll be fun for everybody. Just enough thrill to satisfy older kids/parents but not too intense for the little ones. I think it'll be a great small mountain and the swaying mine trains are a fantastic concept IMO. I'm confident the detail and animatronics will be great as well. I'm looking forward to it (though it's gonna take forever to finish).

Based strictly on the level of detail that they seem to be putting into this whole FLE, I'm thinking that this one is going to be a great little ride.

ooohhhhh!! Wall-E is my favorite 'end of the world' movie... haha! Would love to see how WDI would choose to make the movie into a ride. I wonder what story they would put with it?... Monsters Inc. would be a cool rollercoaster in WDWresort.

Meanwhile, at Universal... ;)

LOL, we will have a net gain of one ride when the Mine thing opens, plus the expanded Dumbo.

Until 2014 (at least), we're only up half a Dumbo.

Universals parks just feel like a nice clean park. The level of detail isn't there. ( with the exception of Harry potter...so maybe universals will start the high level themeing, or maybe Harry potter is a one time shot)
Have you ever been or seen the rest of Islands of Adventure?

It's really probably one of the most beautifully themed, detailed and prettiest parks out there. (please nobody kill me for actually liking Universal as much or sometimes even more than Disney!)

If you travel back a bit further in time and count 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea (which I will count since many people still fondly recall it today), it's no net gain in terms of rides. Rides have been replaced by other rides, not added.

Rides lost-
- Mr Toad
- 20,000 Leagues
- Snow White

Rides Gained-
- Pooh
- 7 Dwarfs Mine Train
- Little Mermaid

That being said, I am looking forward to both the Little Mermaid and 7 Dwarfs rides. I have my expectations tempered to the proper level to enjoy these things. Though i'm not going to pretend it's anything spectacularly major apart from some very pretty and well themed scenery.

I like universal, it's a great park. The themeing didn't wow me...just looked like a clean park. High end six flags. Animal kingdom themeing wowed me....I'm sure universals Harry potter will wow me. But islands of adventure was really clean...but in my opinion not high quality themeing.

Six Flags? Woah.

The theming impresses me A LOT with IOA. Especially with the Port of Entry and the epic music playing in the background and hearing the Hulk roar in the background. So amazing! :D But I need to realize this is a WDW discussion board and trying to defend Universal and IOA will get me no where... Hahahaha. :p

Universal is a great park but what it will never have that Disney Parks do is the magical feeling you get when you are there
