Say.... What if Avatarland got cancelled?

What everyone needs to remember is this. The Pandoras Box that appears in those promo videos for Vekoma doesn't exist anymore. They have an updated version that is quite different.

And there are no guarantee's it would even be used for Avatar. It could be used for a wide variety of things as the ride system is very customizable..

eh. Disney won't even give their own headliners that great of customizable expeirences or put that sort of expenses on their biggest properties. Toy Story Mania and Star Tours for example. I don't see them ever spending that much money on Avatar I think it was just more dreaming Disney would build a working attraction on that sort of scale again.

The ride system is customizable. That's what im talking about. Disney can do whatever they please. Im just talking about this from Vekoma's POV.

Disney may not, but Cameron may dictate it be something remarkable. It really is my biggest hope for this whole Avatar thing... that James Cameron will DEMAND excellence.

Uh oh, I used Avatar and excellence in the same sentence. Here comes the love / hate Avatar debate again for 35 pages...

I think Avatar is a really good movie actually. Now I think that a soarin type ride in this land would be acceptable but NOT if its supposed to be the main ride. I mean if they do it in a different way I would say go for it because the Forbidden Journey at Uni is pretty much a soarin like ride! isnt it? Something like that but to a new degree for avatr would be amazing. I just hope disney follows through and makes it AMAZING!

No love or hate argument here. His enthusiasm and pefectionist traits would allow for great kind of attractions. Although he did not come up with the concept it helped Universal get a fantastic attraction with T2 3D: Battle Across Time.

That being said. There is an alternative there. Cameron Demands Excellence that Disney is not willing to pay, Disney backs out of the initial deal like many are concerned with.

It's not really supposed to fit into a specific time frame of the series. But if one wants to be technical, it would probably be post-Azkaban, since the dementors are present. The premise is you're just taking a tour of Hogwarts with Harr before you get waylaid by a dragon thanks to Hagrid, get lost in the Forbidden Forrest with the spiders and the Whomping Willow, make it in time for a Quidditch match before the dementors swoop in--you take a little tour through the Chamber of Secrets before Harry comes to the rescue to bring you back out of the woods and into the castle again. So "continuity" isn't really an issue for anything.
This is from someone who has never been, but I'm pretty sure that the entire land is set on the day of the Dragon Challenge in Goblet of Fire. I remember reading that J.K. Rowling was very demanding in holding Uni to this.

Same idea, here. Build Beastly Kingdom and maybe have an Avatar attraction within it, anyone?

MY THOUGHTS EXACTLY!!!!! Build a mythical creature land (maybe include some villians and stuff as well) then have an Avatar attraction... not a whole land based on Avatar - which kinda limits yourself to some degree long term.

Avatar Land I am sure will be able to stand the test of time. However, if for whatever reason they dropped the "Avatar", I am sure they can just transform it easily into a whole mystical land.....it pretty much already is. It seems they are going to be focusing the whole area on the agriculture more than on the natives.

Interesting... I find it hard to believe people from the inside would initiate the beating of a dead horse, unless the horse was alive and well.

Why didn't somebody ask him a question people care about, like: "Hey! When are you going to fix the Yeti?"

As for Avatar Land, who cares. I'll ignore it, just like I pretty much ignore AK anyway...

Shorter lines for everyone else! :sohappy:

I find it awesome that they're completely backing this whole project. It shows that they have that much confidence in themselves. People hate on it and they haven't even released any concept art, it's actually very funny. Ever heard that old saying "Never judge a book by it's cover"? It's very fitting for this circumstance. You go Joe Rohde! :)

I can't wait for Avatar land! You people are the only ones who think its not a hit movie and doesn't have a plot.

Because they questions are filtered and calculated. They know better to touch the Yeti. Also, it further proves that this project is still in development and design which explains why everything is so quiet.

P.S. Hate that you are missing out on Animal Kingdom. It's such an underrated park.

P.S.S. I wonder if we will get any info on the park's anniversary, April 22nd.

errrm, that really didn't give me any confidence that AVland will happen. It just sounds like an Imagineer who's answering a simple question, not dispelling anything. He's just saying the prospect is exciting.

The interview is also from the official company blog. Why would there be anything but the official story? He just give a vague generalization.
