Apparently, a great deal of the Beastly Kingdom ideas actually manifested down the road in WWoHP, when former WDI employees went to Uni. If Beastly wasn't dead prior to WWoHP, it was definitely dead after.
The smart move for an attraction would be to bring us to Pandora, we can be in one of those military transports (which are now being used for tours and NOT war), or a new vehicle can be created (like in Star Tours) which brings human visitors on a sight seeing expedition of Pandora, or maybe we can be flying on one of those dragon creatures... And during these expeditions, we'll get views of the animal life on Pandora... The land can conservation theme already present in DAK...

This is actually the first sound idea I've read regarding bringing 'Pandora' to AK, in a way that ties enough of the mythology to the area (which I feel is integral if you're going to call it 'Avatar land'), without bringing along the guns, the poison gas, the evil capitalist mercenaries, Sam Weatherspoon ani's, etc
bravo! WDI should take notes...
I thought it was pretty much dead after former Imagineers brought the dragon coaster idea to Universal and created Lost Continent in IOA... But, either way, I agree with you.. BK is dead... Maybe we'll see bits and pieces scattered in the park, like Disco Yeti... But the land as a whole is more than likely dead...
Thank you sir...
To me, this is the only way they can do the land... I never once thought the mercenary storyline would ever be included... It shouldn't... There are other ways to get the conservation message, including the symbiotic relationship between life and the planet without the war storyline... And that is what I believe they want to bring to the park, why they chose DAK, and how it fits in perfectly...
You may be right and I may be wrong....regardless, the point is when the WDI exodus to Uni happened and similar ideas for beastly kingdom ended up down I4 @ Uni, it made if very difficult for TDO to green light a beastly kingdom at AK.
The avatar idea, if it ever comes to fruition may be the closest they can get to realizing the dragon in the logo, without looking like they're riding Uni's coattails.
I can see that...and I appreciate the way you drew that out, because I can finally put to bed some of the issues I have with Avatar in AK, if they can do it in a way like this (or something similar that keeps enough of a tie to the mythology without bringing along the evil capitalist mercenaries)...I also watched the movie again last night and I'm seeing some of the things that you guys have been preaching about avatar being a good fit for AK, and I'm starting to come around.
Ironic, that I finally reconcile with these issues yet things really point to this being a dead project. Perhaps, Cameron and Disney can find some common ground...not hopeful, but we'll see.
Oh good grief. I've had this same discussion with a friend of mine who can't seem to win the argument either.
Please direct me to the pages in the Death Star's technical manual that states that the Death Star can not:
a) destroy Gas Giants
b) fire shots in quick succession (yet in ROTJ, we see the Death Star shoot repeated shots at ships)
Moreover, I'm not sure whether it's even stated in the movie that Yavin is a gas giant....
I'm afraid it's not available in the internet, but there was a GIANT book about the Star Wars universe published years ago, no roleplaying crap etc., official stuff from Lucasfilm.
And in this book it is clearly confirmed, that the shooting frequency of Death Stars primary weapon depends on the energy needed. One planet-destroying shot needs a long recharging, smaller shots, for the Rebel Fleet in ROTJ needs only minutes.
And that Yavin is a gas giant is confirmed in the official novelization from 1977 and other official sources of any kind.
But we are definitely off topic now, back to Avatar-land, which I hope will never be built.
Can there really be "facts" about something that is completely imaginary? :veryconfu
Say....what if we started every sentence with say?
Frankly, I did not find Avatar all that impressive. I'm not saying the film's look is bad, but I just think it is overrated in these discussion. It's not miles ahead in a visual sense of every other possible idea for expansion. But, more importantly (and this is the key), there is nothing I'd care to experience on Pandora, not even anything that only features the flora and fauna.
Say....what if we started every sentence with say?
Say what?!?!?!?
A Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow
One of the key observations that has been made about the new Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom interactive game is that every land except Tomorrowland has a tie-in to the game. This has led many to speculate that Disney does not want to spend to add SotMK elements only to have to remove them for a giant upgrade to the land that may be in the planning stages right now.
The new Disney parks leadership (aka Tom Staggs) and Walt Disney Imagineering agree that Tomorrowland at both the Magic Kingdom and at Disneyland is in great need of help. Cars land opens in June at DCA and New Fantasyland opens in November at the MK. This is fortuitous for the prospects for a new Tomorrowland. If the crowds and spending come to DCA and New Fantasyland as predicted, WDI will get the greenlight to move ahead with plans to update Tomorrowland in both parks.
Historically, Disney management has been much more likely to green light an attraction if it can be duplicated and used in multiple parks. They now believe they can get two Tomorrowlands for the price of one (so to speak). Disneyland and the Magic Kingdom would get clones of a new E-Ticket, clones of a C or D ticket, and updates to theming that will be nearly identical at both parks.
Everything would be tied up around space travel and a very futuristic vision of far off places and new creatures. The C or D ticket is tentatively scheduled to be a WALL-E based next-generation omnimover (a more varied range of motion for the cars and onboard screens to interact with). The E-Ticket you've probably already heard of.
It will be more than just a single ride, but rather a whole pavilion. Everyone knows that Avatarland has been put on hold at Disney's Animal Kingdom. The reason might be because Imagineering has long held an interest in graphing an alien world onto Tomorrowland and the Avatar movies might provide the perfect vehicle. It also lets Disney have a working concept that won't see the park needing to re-invent the land every 15 years again.
That's all I have for today. Looks like we could be in for a very interested next 5 years.

Interesting...Avatarland cancelled...Avatar being built in Tomorrowland instead.
