The popular Audio-Animatronic show the Mickey Mouse Review, which played in Fantasyland at WDW for many years, and was moved to Tokyo some time later, will be closing for good on May 25, 2009. Plan your trip to Tokyo accordingly .

Mickey's Philharmagic will replace the Review (kinda ironic)

Here's the press release

http://www.olc.co.jp/en/news_parts/20081105_02e.pdf

Sorry if this was old news, but didn't see it mentioned. I posted here instead of the Tokyo section because of the Review's history at WDW.

Discuss.

This chuck-e-cheese show has no place in a 21st Century Disney park.

thanks for the memories.
It surprises me that the show hung around as long as it did, in any park. Watching footage of it from the '70s, the character models look so dated and cheesy to me.

It was kinda neat to know that a WDW original still lived on somewhere, but they can definitely do better.

"Other than that, Mrs. Lilncoln, how did you like the play?"

:eek::eek:

Chuck-e-Cheese is a cute show, too.

:ROFLOL:

I was happy to see it, but my gosh I had no idea how 70's it would be. Other than language, it's clear OLC made NO changes to this THING at all. Also weird that they left the pre-show film in English.

Anyway, I agree, PhilharMagic will be a good replacement.

It's Revue not Review

and I'm sad to see it go before I could actually watch it in person. Could they at least put the Three Caballeros AAs in Epcot?

I think they're Philharmagic will be great, after all, ours was the first implementation of many advanced show systems developed for TDR.

Wow, I don't remember that from when I was there as a kid. I'd love to see that (not just on youtube). Oh well, there are no trips to Tokyo any time soon.

I got to see the Revue in June of this year. I thought it was great... It screamed nostalgia to me, and was in absolute GREAT shape. A couple songs were even in English still... But most were in Japanese. I'll be sad to see it go.

I didn't think the animatronics were all that horrible, either.

And... I've got HD video of it. :animwink: But I've got no idea how to get it online for you guys to view. Guess I'm not that techie.

The scene with Snow White singing was not so bad. It might make a nice addition to SWSA. I haven't riden in a while but aren't most of the figures in the attraction static?

The AA figures in MMR are pretty bad. I think the animation in SWSA might actually be better. I'm tellin' 'ya, I don't think they've even touched the technology since it came over from FL.

I second the three cabs idea! Instead of that screen/stage ending. :brick:

I do think it's nice that the replacement of MMR is a better version of a similar idea; an orchestra and musical revue. That's how new attractions should be - an improvement of the previous one.

Heyyyyyyyyy! Someone's using their thinking cap tonight! Great idea! That would be nice. :)

I mentioned before the ride opened that they could duplicate the figures but now they could actually use them. Just put them in front of the screen dancin' away. It's simple but it would make the attraction alot better to finally see them in the end as 3-D characters.

And yes I like my new thinking cap. It's much nicer than my old restrictions-on-thought cap.

I didn't think so at all. Sure, they were first gen... But it was obvious they have been well cared for, and working just like the day they started (that's one thing the TDL park does INCREDIBLY).

Sure, they're not the timekeeper. But they weren't embarassing either. Arm movement, head movement, and some specialty movements for certain characters. It felt like stepping back into the 70's to me.

EDIT TO SAY: It's exactly like riding SWSA, or Pinocchio at DL. People ride it for what it is, and for the nostalgia factor. People don't get off those rides and complain about the quality of the Snow White AA. The important part is the condition of what they're presenting... Like DL's Peter Pan vs. WDW's Peter Pan. It's virtually the same ride, but not even close in quality. MMR is like TDL's Peter Pan.
