Why does everything have to be for families?????

The Disney name stands for creativity...at least it used to. Now, I guess it's all HSM and Hannah Montana.:hurl:

The Disney parks are founded on the principle of being for families. You can hear Walt himself talking about how the idea of Disneyland was created out of the desire for him to do something as a family with his daughters. That is why everything about Disney is for families.

Good points, but not everything they are labeling "family" is really for "families". People complain about things at the resort that are aimed at an older crowd, but seem to have no problem with HSM and Montana things, for example, that are also aimed at a very specific group of people, not the whole family. I'm not trying to compare PI to HSM because you would be a fool to not promote money makers like HSM among other things. But people seem to lump everything that is kid friendly into the family genre and that's just not the case. Playhouse Disney is no more of a family attraction than Alien Encounter was, but there is plenty of room at WDW to have true family attraction experiences and other things that are for more distinct age groups.

IMHO the whole arguement of family and not family isnt really relevant as some of the rides in the park can't be enjoyed by everyone, from disabilities to height restrictions and even just not enjoying thrill rides.

To be honest, they can put as many shops as they like in there,
just leave 1 or two places for us to go drink, preferably the AC

Its an unique experience and filled with the 'disney spirit'

To some extent I agree, but the things you list (HSM and Playhouse) CAN be family attractions, in that everyone in the family can participate. You may not like HSM, but there is certainly nothing stopping an entire family ages 2 - 80 watching that show. However, in the case of PI, there are specific ages and rules, meaning it would be impossible for the entire family to enjoy the attractions together.

That is completely true. But just because something is accessible to the entire family doesn't mean it is FOR the entire family. I guess my main point is that you can't really use the family argument against more adult offerings at Disney if you have no problem with something like Pooh's Playful Spot. There are specific age and size rules on that, for example. I know it isn't really a fair comparison, but I still think that "family" and "kiddie" are not the same thing and too often they are lumped together.

That sounds more like the old argument that the teenagers are overlooked at Disney parks because the rides are too tame . . . don't think it really applies to Pleasure Island.

Maybe

they may be doing this cuz they want to update some of the clubs. Or change some of them (hopefully not the AC). This is why hey could be closing it down.

No, that would have been okay, instead they are replacing clubs with dining and retail.

It's a new, bold and grand vision for Downtown Disney...Rejoice!

Dead on a Thursday? I'm not believing that. It's one of the busier nights...

And scared away quite a few families with children who wanted to party like it's 1999.

I'm looking forward to the closing of PI. It's time that Disney put something new in its place. I do wish though that they would rebuild the Adventurer's Club in this new attraction, or in some future or existing Disney property.

Could it be that Disney Lost the Liquor License for Pleasure island. Does anyone know if they have one liquor license for the entire property or are the separate ones

I doubt very much so that Disney would lose their liquor license. They have very strict policies and procedures in place to prevent underage drinking.
