Save the Adventurers Club

That's a Library bench (from beside the stage) backed up to Zebra. Lot of busts, the fringe lamp and possibly the globe from upstairs (near the elephant tusk), warthog head from the wall, a pair of Army Air Force boots, and I believe the curio cabinent where the letters were stored. They even took Scooter's caption card.

Disney essentially strip mined the AdvClub to decorate this store.

Which strikes me as especially suprising because we were told that all the stuff was shipped to HK.

Word is a great deal of it was. Just look at what's still MIA and the concept art for Mystic Manor--looks like much of the Mask Room and Treasure Room got shipped. And there was a lot more stuff on the 3 stories of Salon walls than made it to D Street.

Semi-happy to report the Yakoose is still on the wall tho...surrounded by absolutely nothing.

It would have been perfect for the store... have it move periodically, maybe not with audio, but some movement. Oh well....

will be near P.I. tomorrow. Is there ANYTHING left worthy of sgoing nout of the way to see?? THANKS

D-Street is worth seeing, just because it's hard to convey in pictures how much of the Club they took.

If you stop by PI Live (the outside bar that used to sell buckets), you should see a familiar AC face.

Otherwise...well, the food is great at Raglan. Pricey, like everything at WDW, but one of the better restaurants on property. Earl of Sandwich is also good, a cheaper option. And the same Marketplace stores that were always there. But besides that, no.

Can someone explain what happened to P.I? I never went there, but from what I can gather it is basically ruins now.

Disney closed the 5 clubs out there a couple years ago.. some have been replaced, but there are a few that still need final demolition and/or replacing...

The rest of Downtown Disney is very much intact and thriving... Trust me.. it's fine.... thriving, guests everywhere, great dining, great atmosphere, etc , etc...

Some people would have you believe that the area is as vacant as the dark side of the moon, but that simply isn't true...

1.5 years ago, and none of the clubs have been replaced! They are all sitting there rotting, vacant(except for Motion). Nothing to see here but empty buildings folks, move along

Did I miss something here, what clubs have been replaced? What clubs have been demolished? Last time I was there none of the clubs had been replaced and nothing had been torn down except a ticket booth. All the clubs still sit empty. Care to elaborate?

I think the only person trying to get people to believe something that isn't true is you.

Shops aside, the only changes I can think of are Jazz Club into Ragland Road, and the former Missing Link Sausage Co., Avigators, Mouse House, DTV, Yesterears, Suspended Animation building into Paradiso.

Disney closed this place at Pleasure Island called "The Adventurer's Club." It was a unique type of place, sort of a combination of a bar and a stand up, improv, dinner theater. Despite efforts to have the company reconsider its position, Disney sent all its props to Hong Kong and other places and reassigned its entertainment staff to jobs at American Idol and the streets of the Disney Hollywood Studios.

. . .

That's what you were talking about, right? :lookaroun

Wasn't a lot of it scripted???? I for one found the actors at the comedy warehouse more entertaining than the ones at the Adventurers Club

Some of it was scripted, some wasn't. The shows in the library tended to have a somewhat more rigid script than the shows in other parts of the Club, but even they had some flexibility. Many of the actors performed at both the AC and Comedy Warehouse.

sorry, I was thinking of Paradiso.. How about gutted? Is gutted a better word? All of the clubs have had that treatment..

Hopefully they'll be something new there sooner rather than later.

But, as I said before.. DTD is not a ghost town as some would like to believe.. it is quite popular, and quite busy...without the clubs.... not saying it was right or wrong to close them.. just saying, it's still busy..

This is true... Downtown Disney is as popular as ever.. It is nearly impossible to find a parking space after 3 pm.... When I went to the Ridley Pearson Signing I found a sport rather quickly. Upon leaving I was stopped by a guest in a car asking me if I would like a lift to my car and in exchange I let him have my paring space.. I agreed.. He said he had been driving around for over 30 minutes trying to find a spot... I never understood why they do not have a parking structure in downtown Disney

It would be nice but it is really not "needed" as there is typically quite a bit of open parking behind Cirque. I don't even bother looking for parking at the Market Place anymore I just park behind Cirque and take the boat over. Parking garages are quit expensive to build and you typically do not build one unless you have no other option. They also aren't the most attractive structures either.

You got that right. One of the biggest eyesores in my town in the parking garage they built three years ago. What's worse is, no one parks in the thing.

I did a quick search parking garage vs. parking lot. The price per space was simply insane when compared to your typical asphalt parking lot. Figures came in around $12-15k per space for the barebones garage above ground, $25-30k underground. The price for a standard parking lot was about $4k per space.
