Well, I dunno...look at the format of the new show...should an attraction that features puppets who talk about drugs and sex and who drink alcohol really have a place in a family amusement park? Hmmm.... ;)

Yeah, I get what y'all are saying, although I don't think the general public sees the Muppets in the same light as, say, Aerosmith.

By the way, here's the first review of the new show: http://www.forbes.com/sites/merrillbarr/2015/09/16/the-muppets-tv-show-review/

Of course, some things are review-proof, so I wouldn't worry too much about that if I were you.

And anyway, if the theater does get removed, big deal, TDO will probably just put some other off-studio purchase in its place. So whatever.

I really couldn't care less if it went. I ignore it pretty much every year, and the only part back there that I like is the area around the fountain, and that's only because it looks nice. I'm not really a fan of the Muppets, so maybe that has something to do with it, but the Muppets don't seem to be relevant much at all anymore, so I doubt it would be missed by many.

And apparently a new Muppets show is on the way (good thing I read some of the thread before posting). But really, I don't see that gaining much traction when Star Wars and Toy Story move in full force to take over the park. Those are big, cultural icons and they aren't going anywhere anytime soon.

And I do not want to see this crumble to the evil that is corporate greed/synergy (same thing).....

I love the Muppet Show, and I hope it stays. That said, I just don't agree with this idea that every time Disney changes something in the parks, it's because of "the evil that is corporate greed/synergy". Sometimes when an attraction has been in place for 15 or 20 or 25 years, it's time for something new.

Well, here are a few more: http://deadline.com/2015/09/the-muppets-review-tv-series-abc-kermit-miss-piggy-1201531051/

There are doubtless others out there, but these are what turned up first in Google search.

I can understand why the people who want to revive the characters are trying to make them more "adult" (whatever that means). Kids today don't have much interest in the Muppets, so it makes sense to try to aim them at nostalgic adults, AND try to tap into older kids with a sort of "Muppets Family Guy" approach. The show will definitely get looked at, I would imagine. What happens after that will be the clincher.

Is the reviewer ENTIRELY unfamiliar with the original Muppet Show, or just MOSTLY unfamiliar?
I get your point, but I think I understand the reviewer's point as well.

In The Muppet Show, Kermit was always about to snap over some crisis brewing backstage. But it was all over-the-topic, comic, manic stuff that Kermit is famous for. It wasn't taken seriously. It sounds like the new show is trying to show Kermit with "real world" problems and a more realistic anxiety over running the television show. And if that's so, then I agree with the reviewer... Kermit isn't meant to have real world problems.

That doesn't take into account the aforementioned Muppet Moments on Disney Junior, however. They're aiming at both kids and adults with two separate projects.

I see your point, but I don't know... I highly doubt that the reason as to why Malestrom and the Aladdin show at DCA closed was because "it was time for something new" rather than "because Frozen brings in the big bucks!"

It doesn't need saving. It's not going anywhere. It will be updated soon but it is not being discontinued. I could tell you how I know this as a 100% true fact but then I'd have to kill you.

Yaay! So happy! Miss Piggy is my absolute FAVORITE movie star! In fact, when I was getting married, (a long, long time ago in a land far-a-way), my dress was made by a woman who did costumes for Broadway. I kept telling her to keep Miss Piggy in mind as she made it! It was a shining example of Miss Piggy excess! Lol

I LOVE the Muppets. One of the bigger Muppet fans you'll ever meet. But the Muppet Vision 3d attraction needs, at the very least, a heavy update. 3D isn't impressive anymore. And since the success of the new Muppet movies they have material to work with. You need to ask yourself, How long is it okay to keep this dying attraction around?

Keep One Man's Dream. Love it.

If they need the space for Star Wars, can't they build a new Muppet theater or attraction or whatever in Hollywood Boulevard or Sunset Boulevard?

It can be both though, time for something new and choosing Frozen as it is the current popular movie. And in terms of Maelstrom that is more complicated, the pavilion was no longer supported by Norway so Disney wanted cash to update and then Frozen came along.
