Sad day for Harry Potter fans

Well, let's see. When Dumbledor was talking to Harry about Horocruxes, did he specifically mention that the objects with the horocruxes in them had to be destroyed, or some sort of curse performed on them to kill the horocrux, but not the object?

Don't come crying to me when JKR kills him off.

I'm not saying he won't die, I'm just looking at the other possibilities. JK has managed to fool us before. Everyone thought Hagrid would die in book five, and look what happened. And no one guessed that Sirius would die. Same with Snape killing Dumbledor and revealing to be the half blood prince. I'm just thinking that it can't be that obvious....

Did JKR mention that a main character would die in Book 4? Can remember off hand, but it seems like it. Turned out to be Cedric Diggory, who was actually a minor character that only appeared in the 4th book.

Here's a thought, what if Harry pulled a Neo on Voldemort? Harry conftonts Voldemort, and Voldy manages to Avada Kedaveras Harry to the floor. Voldy thinks Harry is dead, and leaves, but Harry rises up unharmed. It would turn out, that Voldy only "killed" Harry's horocrux, but not Harry himself. Therefor, that's the last horocrux. Harry then finally finnishes Voldy before he can react. What do you think?

If the scar was a horcrux, and you hit it with the curse, maybe it would work...
I had an idea before that since the two of them were linked, then Harry would die with Voldemort, but like Buffy, one of his friends revives him. (I'm talking about Season 1 when Xander gives her mouth to mouth. She was dead for a minute and came back.) Or that Harry does not use his wand to defeat Voldemort; instead he pushes him into the Veil. Personally, I like that idea. I envisioned both of them falling into the Veil, locked in combat, and then, because he's Harry and weird stuff always happens, he unexpectedly emerges from the Veil. Stranger things have happened.
You should see all of the fanfiction I've written about possible endings to the series. Boggles the mind. :D

Stop spoiling things, please. Other people in this thread haven't read all the books yet and have asked not to give out spoilers.

I believe ----- to be a main character. He is the only real family member that Harry has and can relate with. He is Harry's lifeline. He serves as Harry's father.

I think he's DEFINITELY a main character, just for the relationship that he holds with Harry.

I agree with that but, I just thought it would have been somebody in all five
books up to that point. Especially with all those fighting on Harry's side
that night. Just surprised to see it was that character.

I have been reading throuugh all the books one after another the past 2 months about. I got through 113 pages of book number 5 last night and turned the page only to find this. Nearly flipped my lid. I will have to go to the library today as I can't wait for book to be exchanged to finish reading it. So upset...

If the two do end up falling through the veil, then the possibilities of *SPOILER AVOIDED* showing up and assisting in the final battle increase as well.

Which would definitely make for a good surprise.

Wow! That isn't something you would ever want to see. Book 5 is my favorite of the series. Hopefully the library will have a complete copy.

Yeah, I was quite shocked when I saw 30 something pages missing which means 30 something more later on.

I went and picked it up at the library today and all the pages that were missing are there. Now just waiting to hear how to return/exchange my copy.

Ooops...I didn't notice the page jump...I thought you were referring to what was going on...

I had troubles with my copy with a few ink spots, and not-consistent print clarity. The spine has come apart in certain parts of my copies of 1-3, and I treat my books very well.

same thing happened to me when I was reading book 3! I was ed. Luckily I had bought the book at K-mart and I took it back.

Yeah, I hate when stuff like that happens. I am very careful with my books, they look new when I am done with them even paperbacks. I never bend the spine. But I have had hardcover books have stitching come out on it's own like it was not made correctly, drives me nuts.

I had purchased mine through half.com so I am waiting on the seller to reply. They have a feedback rating of 3000+ so I am not worried, I just don't want to be charged shipping to send it back because in the end I will end up paying more than if I just bought it at the store.

Frustrating.

I hope that Harry survives as well as a certain gal from Ravenclaw (hinthint) of course, but if I had to guess...

Ginny, because that would have a lot of emotional resonance for a lot of characters.
Snape, in a last, grand "up yours, moldy warts!" gesture

There is so much I could say, and believe me, I've got three files on my computer of my theories, in addition to many fanfiction attempts. But, if I say anything more, we will be here all night.

Oooooh, someoe to discuss HP with! Yeah!
