Sad day for Harry Potter fans

and that's the great thing about JK...she plants all these thoughts so that when the final blow will happen...I think it will take a bunch of us by shock.

I'm sure she knows what people think will happen in the last book...the question is...which tactic is she going to go with? Only JK knows what is in store for Harry and we can only speculate. I think she's going to throw us a huge curveball though for the last book. I mean what else does she have to loose? The question is...what's the curveball going to be? What we all think it is or something completely different?

The thing is, Voldemort will likely die, but he is not one of the two she is referring to in her quote. She's talking about two that she hadn't originally planned to off, so if she were already planning to kill him, it wouldn't be him either. Snape and Draco both make good possibilities, as would Lupin and Tonks...

I don't consider Lupin and Tonks to be main characters. In my opinion, to be a main character, one would need to be in all 6 books. That still leaves a lot of possibilities.

As the last soul on this earth to have not yet read a single HP book , I have no clue who she could kill off.

I don't see her killing off the title character though, it just doesn't make sense.

Killing off the main character makes perfect sense if you think about it enough though!

What else would be a better, shocking (and more talked about) ending if Harry ended up dying in the end?

I'm not saying I would like it to happen...but it would definitely shock people.

They are still characters that are important to certain parts of the plotline. I was just trying to toss out other characters that hadn't been mentioned yet, that's all.

I am assuming Tonks is in some book 4 on. I have read the first 3 and there was no Tonks. Saw the 4th movie and no Tonks unless I missed something and don't think so having seen it a few times.

Tonks comes in at the beginning of #5. She has a pretty big part in #6.

Cool, thanks. I purchased 4 and 5 on half.com and 5 arrived but not 4 yet. So I am in a holding pattern.

I was basing my comment off of the original post about "main characters". I agree Tonk's and Lupin are significantly integrated into the storyline. But this is book number 7, the alledged end of the series.

Actually it does make perfect sense. Since you haven't read all the books, you're missing a huge part of the story. Many speculate that Harry and Voldemort both will have to die. It may or may not happen with book 7, but JK did say (at one point in time) that this is only a seven book series.

She also said that a "Main Character" dies in #5.
While I see the importance of ______, I would not have called him a
"Main Character". With this being said, there are many possibilities here.
The 2 can range from Ron & Hermione to Luna & Cho.

I believe Sirius to be a main character. He is the only real family member that Harry has and can relate with. He is Harry's lifeline. He serves as Harry's father.

I think he's DEFINITELY a main character, just for the relationship that he holds with Harry.

Here's a thought, what if Harry pulled a Neo on Voldemort? Harry conftonts Voldemort, and Voldy manages to Avada Kedaveras Harry to the floor. Voldy thinks Harry is dead, and leaves, but Harry rises up unharmed. It would turn out, that Voldy only "killed" Harry's horocrux, but not Harry himself. Therefor, that's the last horocrux. Harry then finally finnishes Voldy before he can react. What do you think?

I think Harry's a goner.

Well, let's see. When Dumbledor was talking to Harry about Horocruxes, did he specifically mention that the objects with the horocruxes in them had to be destroyed, or some sort of curse performed on them to kill the horocrux, but not the object?
