Also, here’s the cartoon crossover project I mentioned that could work for toontown:
Dr. Doofensmirtz's
Cartoon Crossover!
As new O.W.C.A. (The Organization Without a Cool Acronym) recruits, it is your job to help Perry the Platypus stop the evil Dr. Doofensmirtz, but when Dr. Doof unleashes his Interdimensional Portal-inator, you get sucked into the adventure as the barriers between cartoon world's break down!
latest

-queue-
The queue line is themed as the lobby to Doofensmirtz Evil Incorporated. You pass by recreations of some of his most famous evil "-inators" from the show (he calls all his devices "-inators").
inators_zps4bc8a0bb.jpg

-pre-show-
You enter an "elevator-inator" that will take you to his penthouse lab. In reality, the elevators don't move vertically. They just vibrate a bit to give the illusion of movement. During the elevator ride, Major Monagram (the head of O.W.C.A.) briefs you on your mission. Also, Carl (an intern at the O.W.C.A.) gives you a safety briefing. You then exit the elevator and board the ride.

-Ride-
The ride reuses the simulators and technology from Star Tours. The animatronic C3PO is replaced with an animatronic Dr. Doof. The small screen on the side now shows Agent P who is sitting wearing a seatbelt.

The ride starts with Dr. Doof asking if everyone out on their seat belts like his assistant (the cast member) told us to. "Good!" Dr. Doof responds, "now you are all trapped!" Agent P struggles against his seat belt. "Now, behold! My ultimate Inter-dimensional portal-inator!!!!" The machine accidentally back fires when he tries to use it to send the minivan that took his parking spot into another dimension.

The backfire sends us back to a random cartoon from the 50s to the 80s. Much like Star Tours, there is an element of randomness to the ride. Some examples you might find in this section are: Looney tunes, Jetsons, Flintstones, Transformers, Jem and the Holograms
, and Scooby Doo. Wherever you are, Dr. Doof is looking for a portal out. Eventually he finds one taking you to...

A random cartoon from the 90s to today! Potential examples include Ducktales, Spongebob, Tailspin, Adventure Time, Regular Show, Simpsons, or Over the Garden Wall. You find another portal that takes you too...

Nothing. You are in either a blank black expanse or a blank white expanse. A giant floating baby head drifts by (a running joke from Phineas and Ferb). Suddenly an interdimensional traveller comes and rescues you (after a quick detour through their world of course). Some examples of Interdimensional travelers are: Star Butterfly (Star vs. The Forces of Evil), Bill Cipher (Gravity Falls. Dr. Doof agrees to owe Bill a favor in exchange for help getting home), Rick Sanchez (Rick & Morty), The Planet Express Crew (Futurama), and Steven Universe (Steven Universe. Technically, gem warp pads only travel long distances, not across dimensions, but its close enough lol).

After landing safely back in Doofensmirtz Evil Incorporated, Dr. Doof notices that Agent P has broken out of his seatbelt. Perry hits the self destruct switch on the Inter-dimensional portal-inator. Dr. Doof brags that "jokes on you Party the Platypus! I installed a blast shield to protect me from the self destruct switch." As he says that, the shield between guests and the animatronic begins to raise. "Wait! No! I'm supposed to be on that side! Curse you, Perry the Platypus! And Disney World guests!!!!!" You hear a boom and an O.W.C.A. agent (exit cast member) tell you that you are now free to escape Dr. Food's clutches and release your seatbelts.

-exit-
You exit out the right into Century City, but a "Gift Shop-inator" is nearby. Not large enough to be a full store, it is really only a large merchandise cart.

Note: as a similator, this ride can be easily updated with new scenes as new cartoons become popular or as featured cartoons become less popular.

How about we add a new toon town based on more cartoons? Like we could incorporate the old dr doofenshmirtz cartoon crossover ride from that sywtbai project. Now that Disney owns fox, the lineup of ip we could use for attractions is virtually endless! Any other ideas?
@Brer Oswald or @mharrington might be able to help you with that! I know Brer has ideas for a 1930s Toon Studio

It was a project back on the Visions Fantastic boards. I was able to save it for posterity. Here it is...

As guests proceed through the switchback queue, they enter into the main loading station just inside of the show building. Along the back wall of the queue, a beautiful painted mural is seen, depicting a scenic Neverland, complete with cascading waterfalls, an enchanting sky, the Jolly Roger floating in the lagoon below, and the Darling children flying high in the sky. The sides of the queue are dressed with fiberglass trees and rock formations, creating a sunken lagoon environment, that of which is superior to any queue in Fantasyland by far. The queue leads up to the loading station, where a Cast Member directs guests into an approaching pirate ship, sailing into the loading station smoothly. The vehicle, which is a boat on an underwater track, is reminiscent of a pirate galleon, complete with ornate gold decorations and wood carvings. Guests enter into the boat and sail off, past the mural and down the canal, into a misty cavern.

The ship winds through a spray of whimsical trees and plants, venturing deeper into the jungles of Neverland. The sound of a distant waterfall is heard amidst the dense setting. As guests reach a clearing in the forest, they pass by a lonesome, somewhat disheveled tree. The tree is surrounded by the Lost Boys, John, Michael and Wendy herself. The limited animatronic figures swing happily on the branches of Hangman’s Tree, a safe haven from the ongoing threats of Captain Hook. Guests hear the boys laughing happily as they play; an instrumental rendition of “Following the Leader” plays as the boat glides through the scene, which is actually is inspired from the "Following the Leader" instance in the film. At the base of the tree, guests will notice a hollowed out hole, a possible entrance into the hideout.

The boats proceed through another small section of enclosed jungle space, the river winding through the tall, whimsical trees that sprout about the room. Proceeding around the corner of one of the trees, guests spot Peter and Wendy near a section of parted trees. Peter slowly descends down from the sky via hidden hydraulic lift, cleverly camouflaged between the thick trees; Wendy remains planted solidly on the jungle ground, her wide eyes glowing happily as she watches Peter fly. In between the parted trees, across a vast lagoon in the distance, guests spot Captain Hook's pirate ship, the Jolly Roger. The commands of its captain are heard in the distance, followed by the sounds of cannon fire. From one of the cannons mounted on the ship, an orange light appears directly ahead of the boat. The boat continues down the river before taking a very slight dip down a waterfall encased in carefully-carved stone rocks; the sound of the cannon ball’s impact echoes from the jungle behind.

The boat floats into an enchanting mermaid lagoon, completely encased in exotic purple rock formations. On both sides of the boats, playful mermaids atop rocks in the water wave at guests flirtatiously. A mermaid under a cascading waterfall lets the “water” (translucent fibers) soak her from head to foot. Wendy watches curiously from behind a rock while Peter plays the panpipes while leaning upside against a rock covered with strands of brightly-colored flowers. Light green lily pads float above the water; thick vines and grasses grow on the rocks.
MermaidLagoon.png

As the boat continues through the scene, however, guests might notice a matte painting of a brilliant starry sky, the moon reflecting against the water. A silhouette of Captain Hook, Smee and Tigerlilly appears in front of the full moon, the crocodile’s tail poking out from out of the water. The boat passes under a waterfall, spraying guests slightly. After crossing under the waterfall, the foreboding skull rock looms over the boat, the hollowed out eyes of the stone skull peering down at the guests, glowing a dark blue.
SkullRock-1.png

The ship enters through the mouth of the skull; a miniaturized model of the Jolly Roger is docked to the side of sharp rocks above the water. Guests find themselves in a dank cave setting, ominous sounds echoing through the rock walls; the roof of the cave is pitch-black. Dark green roots droop down from the nearby rocks; the water glows a dark blue, and several dimly-lit crevices in the rockwork make it appear as if there are deeper areas within Skull Rock. Before exiting the cave, guests hear the faint sounds of Captain Hook and Peter Pan engaging in a sword fight, their weapons clanking notably as Captain Hook grunts and taunts the boy in frustration. Finally, the boat exits the cave, turning right past a sharp rock and into a climactic battle between the Lost Boys and the pirates of Neverland.

The boat encircles Captain Hook's ship, which is scaled down enough so as not to assume too much space but large enough to portray the attraction’s climactic scene. On the mast of the ship, Captain Hook and Peter Pan are caught in the midst of a duel. Wendy, John, Michael and the Lost Boys are preoccupied by the surrounding pirates near the ship’s bow. Blasts of air shoot out of the cannons, seemingly towards guests themselves.
N015221_2020juil22_peter-pan-flight-dark_926x351.jpg

As the curves around the ship, the boat comes into view of the crocodile atop a stone just off the rocky walls. The sound of a ticking clock is heard emanating from the crocodile, who is peering eagerly at Captain Hook; the crocodile’s tongue moves from left to right and its eyes blink hungrily.

The boat travels into open sea, bordered by a formation of sharp rocks, the black lights giving them a dreamlike feel. Captain Hook stands between the gaping jaws of the crocodile, who tauntingly opens and closes its jaws, waiting to devour the helpless captain. Hook grunts in terror as his cohort, Smee, is seen rowing away in a small row boat, his face emoting a great deal of guilt. Guests spot a small Tinkerbell figure, which is suspended on the ceiling, just above guests as their boat passes by. A twinkle is heard and a shimmer appears from her wand. The ship then ascends up a small ramp, from the earlier dip in the attraction. The ramp is surrounded by bright white clouds, creating an allusion of flight; the last and certainly most memorable effect in the attraction. At the top of the ramp, guests find figures of Peter, Wendy, John, Michael and Tinkerbell floating gracefully among the white clouds. In the distance, a matte painting of London stretches from one end of the room to the other; two stars twinkle and shine from the help of the blacklight. The boat proceeds into the unload station, where guests exit the sailing ship and enter back into the whimsical world of Fantasyland.
Excellent find, thank you! Awesome work by @Basketbuddy101 on this!

@D Hindley I know British Colonization is a big no-no for India, but what about Indiana Jones? I think he would work excellently with the emphasis on Indian history (before colonization kingdoms). The issue, of course, is potential comparisons to the Temple of Doom. We would want to stray as far away from that as possible.

Worst case, we just create our own Indian Archaeologist.

Hmmm...what if our HM was in a crashed spaceship with hologram ghosts of a malfunctioning AI, killer robots, or invading aliens? Make it an Alien themed HM?
This is an intriguing approach. As fun as Alien would be, it’s a poor fit for this particular park if our focus is on colors & happy festivals & music & whatnot. A haunted spaceship with the same cheeky humor as the original HM, though, and with an original song (Danny Elfman?) to go with it, that would be a perfect fit!

Hmm, I fear Indy is perpetually associated with Temple of Doom in India, and they justifiably HATE that movie! To this day they hate it!

Rather than going with archeology, how about following @Evilgidgit ‘s suggestion for Adventureland and adding some dinosaurs. Create an original paleontologist character (S.E.A.). That concept could fit several possible rides, from a BTTM-style coaster to a Jungle Cruise ride. (@spacemt354, was that DisneySea dino ride SAU?)

I could totally see this working, but I'm unsure if it would fit with the "Green Tomorrowland" vibe. It's a really cool concept though, I'd like to find a way to work it in.

As this project matures, and as we hone in on our desired lands & attractions, we'll want to subdivide things. Project Managers for each land. Think about what you'd enjoy working on.

OVERALL RESORT LAYOUT

Right now we’re focusing on the all-important Castle Park, but there’s a whole resort needed to support it! How to design that?

How about expanding on Disneyland’s hub & spoke model to create a compact and walkable resort? Somewhat like how Disneyland Paris is laid out. The Castle Park (Mumbai Disneyland) is located in the Fantasyland spot, with the Adventureland & Tomorrowland spots on either side as expansion pads for the 2nd & 3rd gate (with shared backstage infrastructure). The hub & Main Street areas can serve as the resort backbone – the hotels, the Disney Springs equivalent, the transportation center for arriving guests. (In Mumbai guests will mostly arrive by public transportation; car ownership is limited.)
Does anyone have any ideas for the resort beyond the park?

Ideas for hotels? Shopping district? Additional resort features?

I think one of (if not the hotel since this is opening day) the hotels should adapt the taj mahal-Esk architecture

Oh! What if we did a new Peter Pan dark ride -- but with the tech of Shanghai Pirates?
I like that too! Quite a bit actually!
Interesting idea. This is probably what they're doing with the Peter Pan E-ticket coming to DisneySea's Fantasy Springs.

We were also considering the Shanghai tech for a new Small World on Main Street.

Let's flesh this out! Here's the Umaid Bhawan, a 5-star hotel in Jodhpur. It fuses the old Mughal style of Taj Mahal with a 1930s Art Deco aesthetic. Something in this vein could make for a good flagship Mumbai Disneyland Hotel.

This is exactly what I was thinking when you asked about hotels. 😂

Shanghai opened with a deluxe and a value resort. I think our's should do the same.

Soooooooo... have we settled on a ride lineup for any of the lands?
No, but tomorrowland will likely contain a wall-e themed space mountain and spinner in in a wall-e sub area, and also a Winnie the Pooh themed flume/rapids is likely to be in fantasyland, along with a Peter Pan boat ride. Also we want a jungle book ride for Adventureland, so there’s a couple basics set.

I was meaning to quote this before - but we've got a lot of ideas to field from which is great. It's better to have more than less, however not all of these will make it into the park, because some of them clash thematically or are just there because they're cool concepts.

So -- maybe our best move now -- is to hold off on any more new attractions before it gets too wild, and focus on coordinating what we have - starting most definitely with the castle/main entrance.
