If that s were the only reason for the smell, Florida humidity, then why aren't all cars in Florida filled with stank? It has much more to do with the way that the guests treat the carpet, like spilling beverages and food, and sadly bodily fluids.

^^^ Excellent point. I also agree they've held up amazingly well, but if guests are spilling various fluids, that's all the more reason to make that a hard surface so all you have to do is spray and disinfect.

Sorry for the thread bump but it is relevant.

Big demo of the hyperloop tonight. This is the beginning of a transportation revolution. Sort of like the internal combustion engine replacing the horse.

So, whether the test succeeds completely or not, the monorail will no longer be visionary starting tomorrow.

And I think it will be replaced in a matter of time at WDW. Discuss.

Wait what? WDW is testing this? I don't think traveling around the MK resort loop at 760mph would be safe

No. It is a live demonstration. Google it.

It appears it can operate at different speeds. And the capsules can be routed like data capsules for anyone familiar with Cisco.

What does this have to do with Disney? Are they demoing it for Disney

I disagree. It will not make it obsolete. The buses did that years ago. IMO, the monorail is there for nostalgia purposes. The evidence is in the movement of the Mark V to Mark VII. Retro design. Additionally, I would expect that Disney would not invest in this technology when they can get the same thing for much cheaper in bus transportation. The current monorails wouldn't be changed because it would require a completely new infrastructure. They would have to build a tube system with maglev like technology. I can't see anyway they could take advantage of any part of the existing Monorail system. If they are not going to expend the current system due to cost, then they are certainly not going to rip and replace it.

Disney utilizes monorail. This tech will make that obsolete. It is a demonstration for the whole world. Welcome to the future.

Vacuum system similar to the ones used to move your money at a drive up teller at a bank with magnetic technology so that there is no resistance along a horizontal path. It is an interesting idea. We are all in the business of making Elon Musk rich these days I guess

many airport tram systems make the old monorails obsolete that doesn't mean Disney will change. I bet the cost would be massive as well

Regardless Disney should look into transportation options to and from all the parks and resorts without using so many busses, but the thing is it is more cost effective

Since we are on the topic, any recent rumors to the status of the driver-less monorail? Additionally, is there any attempt at building new monorails for this system since this one is now older then the Mark IV and V when they were replaced.

This could be a viable replacement for Magical Express and the Disney Cruise line transport to the parks.
