My guess would be that if it was poor lighting you would still at least see the reflection of the white tops and sides...but again I'm not a physics master either.

You would be right the flashing light on the tops would show off white, and the lights in the TTC would show white too. That is interesting.

I'm hoping there was a strobe on the train running. If not that would pose a safety hazard so who knows what may be going on.

No, it was black and did not stop while going through the TTC on the express line. We were both quite shocked and asked, the CM on the platform said it had been passing through at odd times but did not know anything more, as expected.

Absolutely wasn't going for that angle but was worried about it before posting, did see it though and figure it is/was part of a pre-wrap or color scheme test and assumed someone would know.

That's the thing that we don't want but we cant deny that this is odd. The only thing I could think of is a dummy unit being used to test automation but the lines haven't been modified yet.
That's why I asked if anyone knew if there were wraps being done right now.

This reminded me of what my co-worker and I discussed today. Imagine when an alien culture finds Disney World if everyone dies in the future. They are gonna think it was the government cult body because of all the mickey ear they will find. They will think that Mickey was our god.

As far as I know, none of the trains are being wrapped or scheduled to be wrapped. I also have heard nothing about an all black monorail either, but I don't get to spend much time back at shop so something could be hiding.

I haven't read about it but I have been told about it. Its gonna be interesting to see what the future thinks about us. Wouldn't it be sad if this was the Golden Era that they look up too.

No new trains. It is a retrofit according to Sam.

I feel your right. We are going to most likely get a cheap retrofit until the entire line/system is completed which will be a few years down the road. Why buy new Automated trains when they can't run on the full system yet.

I don't know if anyone is interested, but here is a page from someone who worked on the monorail published back in 1991. (Just a little outdated 
) It does give some good insight on the operational procedures of the monorail. (I don't know if half of these are still relevant, but it's still personally interesting.)

Would be neat to see how much of this information has changed. It seems unlikely that much of it has changed but I'm sure there's been adjustments to some of the procedures. I might also add I like the story about how they had to adjust the opening to the contemporary to make room for the current monorails. So it's not exactly out of the question to get new bigger monorails...still have the bottom line to meet though...
