Rumor: Jungle Book Boat Ride at Animal Kingdom

Huh--I honestly for the life of me can't even recall the queue for Kali! Maybe that's because we won't ride it if it has more than a 20 min wait and won't waste a FP on it.

Most of the time Kali has a longer wait time than I’d be willing to wait, so I have only done it a few times. IMO, it could have the best queue in Florida and that wouldn’t make it worth waiting 30+ minutes for, unless you just have a bunch of time to kill and are more interested in looking at the queue than the ride itself.

The queue for Kali was honestly one of the spots that truly wowed me on my first visit to Animal Kingdom. It was the place I ended up taking the most photographs of (after the safari.) It was the longest wait we had that day (45 minutes), but with how beautifully detailed the queue was, my husband and I didn’t mind one bit.

I like Kali. Of course I wish that most rides lasted a bit longer than they generally do, rapids rides especially. IMHO, the ride type doesn’t lend itself well to a lot of story elements. Even with that, I like that Kali’s message about deforestation is clear. Obviously attractions are at their best when effects are maintained, of course...

I would love to see The Jungle Book represented more in the US parks. Disneyland Paris has some nice nods to the animated film and sells some pretty cool merchandise. But I would be disappointed if Kali was changed to have a Jungle Book overlay, as I think it would be a disservice to the importance of the ride’s message and wouldn’t be able to do the film(s) justice.

It's been so long since I have ridden it I had to look up what the queue was like. We only ride it at the end of the day and are hot and don't mind getting soaked plus it's more or less a walk on. Probably why I didn't remember the queue.

I love this idea. I love Kali River Rapids, but other than getting wet it really doesn't have much of a theme to it other than going down fast moving rapids which is super cool. The Jungle Cruise in the Magic Kingdom is something totally different than what I expect this Jungle Book Boat Ride to be. The Jungle Cruise ride is more of a comedic guided tour. I think this Jungle Book thing will have a great story to it and a great addition to the Animal Kingdom if it goes through.

Just to be clear: No one has implied that Kali will become a Jungle Book attraction. Quite the opposite actually. Shocking I know. We're so accustomed to expect overlays and NOT new attractions. That said, a Jungle Book overlay on Kali wouldn't necessarily be a bad thing, IMO. But neither would a new to Disney's Animal Kingdom original-built attraction. I just wish Kali were better. Jungle Book could only help.

Well, in theory.
I would totally want Kali and Jungle Book Boat ride to stand on there own and be equally great rides. I agree that the Jungle Book Boat Ride could only make things better.

If they do justice to it and don't half___ it like on some other rides lately! I love the jungle book story and the music from them movie is some of our families favorite. As an aside, my 16yo is in jazz band and was supposed to have the trombone lead for Bare Necessities on their band tour--he never got to play it because tour was cancelled due to school shut-down. Oh well, hopefully they play it next year and he has the lead! 🙂

Will Disney ever make a water ride as long as Splash Mountain nowadays? It seems like the average time of the rides now, whether simulators, dark rides or water rides, are roughly 5 minutes.
