[RUMOR] Imagination's potential replacement?

I still cannot fathom how people insist that "Inside Out", a movie based on EMOTIONS, will work in the IMAGINATION pavilion. o_O

Figment IS imagination. This is not a stretch, like the "Inside Out" IP would be. It's not as if there isn't already a building at Epcot, mostly unused with the exception of a few festivals during the year, where those characters would fit a million times better.
Who says the theme of the pavilion has to remain the same?

At this point, they might as well level the building and start from scratch, including the theme.

Ummm...isn't Under the Sea: Journey of the Little Mermaid...just that? A passive dark ride?

Eisner era. I consider it a perfect adaptation for what they had to work with. Hydrolaters would have only become more problematic over time by creating bottlenecks.

My point was that the only thing they seem to be designing are attractions with interactivity, thrills (a form of interactivity) or heavy nostalgia that evokes Walt Disney's era.

IMO of course. And I am sure there will be occasional exceptions. Also, I am not including upgrades to existing attractions such as the China 360.

Oh my, I had forgotten about that possibility. :arghh:

I'm sure they could conjure up a reason to level the building and start from scratch if they wanted to do it. Probably the standard MO of the Iger/Chappie regime these days - It will become "too expensive to maintain". Stop maintaining the ride for a while and they'll get what they want.

Otherwise know as the 20k leagues strategy.

Eisner left the company in 2005...7 years prior to Under the Sea and the rest of New Fantasyland.
Yes, Eisner was around during the DVD release but as we know, New Fantasyland went through attraction changes prior to what we ended up with. Also, that ride shown on the DVD extras was pretty different.

If a new attraction could be pulled off successfully with an Omni-mover, they'd build it.

I thought we were discussing the Nemo overlay.

UtS was the last of the traditional old school dark rides IMO. It was built on Iger's watch but likely was blue sky under the old system. I can't place an exact date the strategy changed but it definitely changed in the Iger era. I think this may be one of the main reasons the Pandora water ride almost got canceled. Just a hunch.

I am very excited to see how Epcot(and DHS for that matter) look 10 years from now. Clearly they are the WDW parks ignored the most over the last decade+.

I am dreading it.

I mourn what will be lost but I am also excited for what will be added.

Ellen's Energy Adventure was my favorite ride in Epcot and one of my favorites in WDW, and even though GotG belongs in DHS, I am still looking forward to it.

As Walt said: "Disneyland will never be completed. It will continue to grow as long as there is imagination left in the world."

That, unfortunately, comes at a cost. All we can do is remember what we loved about the attractions we lost and enjoy with an open mind the attractions we will gain.

If all we do is hate the stuff that's added, that would be the greatest tragedy of all.

There's a difference between changing out attractions in the parks and drastically changing core principles.

Because the first thing that comes to mind with WDW is a casino

No a Casino is the thing which will pull in more revenue per square foot than anything else Disney can do with the property, It would allow Disney to market EPCOT as the park for adults

We already know Disney only cares about the money.

I don't expect that Disney would run it I imagine they would lease the campus to a gaming company so they could claim to be 'family friendly' and they had no choice but to lease the 'white elephant' to a gaming company.
