Rumor: Disney World Indiana Jones Show Closing To Make Room For Star Wars

I think it's the tree covered area south of the POTC show building. Would need a long queue like the one at DLR for IJ to get to it.

There's also a small expansion pad in Adventureland next to the treehouse.

Thank you, I see it behind potc and jc adjacent to the train tracks. Not much room there for something the size of the temple ride taking into account that dinosaur looks roughly twice the size of potc.

Marvels contract with Universal that predates their purchase by Disney prevents Disney from having Marvel attractions east of the Mississippi. THat contract wont be changing anytime soon.

It's conceivable that they could use Guardians of the Galaxy or (especially) Big Hero 6 if those films do well, but I doubt we'd see any attractions based on them. And, regardless, they don't have a good location in the parks (Tomorrowland?). GotG seems kinda iffy in regards to the Uni contract but they are doing the preview film at DHS, as opposed to the Avengers/Iron Man monorails not being allowed to be on the Epcot loop, so it seems it might not be prohibited.

They just can't mention anywhere, and i mean anywhere, that GotG is a Marvel product, no logo or anything, and it can be used

You are wrong about that one. Universal only has the rights to the characters they are using in the park. Anything that is not currently being used can be used by Universal, Disney can use anywhere. As for the charachters at USF you are absolutly correct and Disney can't use them in any theme park in the easter US but they can use them anywhere else. They could even open a store rigth next to USF and have a meet and greet if they wanted. The only exclusive rights are in theme parks in the east. Additionally, there is an arena show for Marvel that is going to play in Orlando and Disney is going to make a good amount from it.

No, what I was saying is that, they can use characters not in the associated family as the ones in IoA, however they cannot brand it as from Marvel, as including the Marvel in the parks is against the contract. Notice how on the blog they didn't mention Marvel, and not in the preview i don't think.

Perhaps im wrong, this is just what i read (or thought i read)

iii.East or West of The Mississippi - permitted uses shall be limited to the use of specific Marvel characters and Marvel may not permit a licensee to use the name “Marvel” as part of the attraction name or marketing.

What's amazing is they still pack that Indy theater in, even on a seemingly moderate day. It's mind boggling for a nearly 25 year old show that has essentially remained the same.
But even a weekday in May, it's packed full. Unless it's September, if you want to sit anywhere near the middle, better burn a fastpass.

Thats because the park doesnt exactly have a huge attraction count, so its something for people to do, therefore usually always a big crowd.

It is a good show but seems destined to be replaced. If only because the size of the park is so limited. Shame about that.

Yeah, it does use an large amount of space, not only the seating and performance area, but it has a huge backstage area.

For first-timers it's an impressive show. I have seen in about half the times in my 15 annual trips to WDW and it doesn't have a ton of repeatability (in no small part due to the audience member schtick). I'd settle for a dialog refresh until Star Wars comes...

Ehh... Fire Mountain was planned for that expansion pad back when IOA was considered a possible threat in the late 90s. If TDO really wanted to, they could rework the backstage areas and access roads and swamplands to allow another 30-40 acres to open up around the whole park. Might have cost $1 billion... but it's a better long term investment than MM+ will be.

I definitely think Adventureland could use a thrill ride, while Frontierland could use a people-eating E-ticket family dark ride.

Indy in Adventureland (possibly Lost Expedition) and Western River Expedition in Frontierland. Also Sleepy Hollow in Liberty Square so each land on that side gets something new.

I think Journey to the Center of the Earth would also be a good option for Adventureland, if they didn't want to use IJ.

I don't think that would ever come out of Japan, but man would it be sweet :D It's the one ride that makes me want to go there to see it myself. Also, let's not go into an imagineering tangent in this thread like what happened in the Peter Pan one.
