Rumor: Disney World Indiana Jones Show Closing To Make Room For Star Wars

Its one of the biggest phenomenons Disney has ever had, why would it need a temporary location as some sort of test of demand? The fanbase is huge, the demand just to meet two of the film's characters is proof enough that a full-fledged attraction, or even expanded mini-land, rather than a quick overlay would be successful. It might be temporary but it wouldn't be because TDO want to see how well it might do before they commit to a greater Frozen presence, the demand for anything to do with that film is obvious.

As stated, perhaps they have evolved on WS and want it to have a broader demographic appeal. In which case they should do the Frozen overlay properly. In other words, a proper budget to make the new attraction better than what was.

I was pondering this today and I have evolved on WS. In today's very mobile world WS has lost the original reason it was built. Most people can easily afford going to the places represented. There are far fewer checkpoints for instance in Europe making travel as easy as in the states. Globalization has happened since 1982.

So to give WS attractions more of an appeal to younger guest's makes sense now. And I support adding attractions like Frozen and next-gen character M&Gs. Great way to educate the young about other cultures which should be more emphasized IMO.

And the cool thing is WS can be transformed in the evenings to appeal to adults in a similar way I think Disney Springs will. Everyone wins. Plus we would get a more balanced guest distribution between the parks.

PS- Sorry Epcot Explorer ;)
Disney :banghead: does not :banghead: need to shove :banghead: cartoon characters :banghead: into World Showcase :banghead: to entertain children!!!!!!!:banghead::banghead::banghead: If they would just build new interesting rides and/or shows like Maelstrom and The American Adventure in the rest of the pavilions and also update what's already there it could entertain just the same. It did for me. New countries wouldn't hurt either.

I moved my posting to the Frozen-Maelstrom thread. AA is great the way it is. Does not really provide edutainment for anyone over college age but is easily inspiring for those of school age. Now they just need to relocate IaSW to the plot next door to make the pavilion completely family friendly. IaSW could close every evening around 7 PM.

I think this new way of understanding WS has merit. Guess we agree to disagree. I am quite serious I think they should go in this direction.

Wish Disney could just build new attractions rather than replace old attractions...DHS could use additional attractions just as badly as they could use new ones...not like the land isnt there
DHS actually needs to have an old attraction replaced.

Studio Backlot Tour actually needs to gone since it really doesn't make sense for DHS to have one. DHS stopped having a working studio years ago and that is why a Studio backlot tour doesn't make any sense now. The other problem with the Studio Backlot Tour is the fact its a shell of its former self.

The Studio Backlot Tour actually is much smaller than it was in 1991 because part of the area of the Studio Backlot Tour actually turned into attractions besides DHS not having a working studios anymore. That means you can't make the Studio Backlot Tour the way it was again.

The Studio Backlot Tour also can't be fixed by having a working studio again because Disney and Universal found out that having a working studio in Florida wasn't a good idea.

Just have to make a quick comment, even though it is slightly off topic...
Why not use that country's native stories/myths/legends for rides and attractions and m&gs? As I child, I would have been absolutely thrilled with meeting Ben Franklin, King Arthur, or Lief Eriksson. Why not include those characters in a whimsical way to appeal to children?

In all seriousness though those would be great additions. I can't believe I never thought of a dark ride about the legend of King Arthur until I read this, would be a great addition to the UK pavilion. The thing with Lief Ericson could be great too to teach people about the man who came to America 500 years before Columbus. THIS is what World Showcase needs, not toons.

I actually love your idea though since I actually read some mythology and legends when I was growing up and your idea is something that would have fitted in World Showcase perfectly. I actually read King Arthur when I was growing up.

The problem is you are dealing the Bob Iger era of Disney. It seems like about everything that gets built at a Disney theme park needs an IP or needs to be a popular movie.

Indiana Jones is indeed a classic, but it has aged quite a bit, no doubt. As TP said though, no one in CA wants a 20+ year old show, whether it's based on Indy or not.

Now, if they plan on giving us The Lost Expedition like they had originally planned, I'd be up for that.
The Lost Expedition would be a perfect expansion for Magic Kingdom's Adventureland, there is an empty expansion pad after all.

The Lost Expedition could also work well at AK replacing Dinosaur and Chester and Hester…it would certainly be more stylish…though I know kids like Dinosaurs...

Dinosaur and Dinoland should definitely stay, though a nice refresh couldn't hurt. If The Good Dinosaur turns out well I could see them putting that where DinoRama is now. Maybe they could even keep the spinner.

I am hoping that the walk through would be part of a queue for a larger and better attraction...Though I am sure Disney would prefer to build it as just the attraction...lol
Agreed. I guess I'm in the minority here but I can't see myself going nuts over a Millennium Falcon walk-through. I would walk in, look around a bit and then leave thinking, "That was it???".
Also, if they made parts of it interactive, the Fan Boy log jam would make the narrow passages impossible to navigate. And this is coming from a Star Wars fan.

Agree that a millennium falcon walkthrough could only work as a que or no one would ever leave it :)

Actually if Indy had to move out of DHS, Animal Kingdom has an enormous plot of expansion land behind Asia...Where a lost temple might make sense... Or out at Conservation Station area...Make the train a ride to a whole new land...an Indiana Jones lost expedition attraction and stunt show, restaurant and shops... Could be amazing to actually have the room to really do something wonderful with it...
