Rude guests (rant sorry)

So glad I vented. definitely not a troll. Just fed up with people being so rude in the parks. They are rude not only to cast but too each other! It just sucks that most of these people complain and Disney just gives them free stuff. I feel like that's kinda what started this whole thing

This behavior is not just at WDW. Even in my home town, customers are extremely rude to us on a daily basis. Example, just today I was helping a man and noticed he was standing around waiting for his sandwich with his number in his hand. I told him that we would bring it out to the number and that he did not have to wait here and that he could have a seat. Well he got a y with me and said " I will sit when I want to". What?? Why? Why do people talk like this to others? How does that stuff just come out of your mouth without it not making you feel horrible? I can't talk to people that way, it eats at me. To just randomly be rude and nasty is not in me.

Well I'm a baptist preacher so I generally try to always keep a leash on my tongue. LOL! I was sure ready to let her have it though!

I think that is the problem. No one is calling them out on this horrible behavior. As as society if we see this, we need to call these poeple out on it. Getting away with it is what gives them the nerve. I would have called security and had her escorted out because that was an assault in the eyes of the law.

While I think standing up for yourself and saying something has merit, just be ready for a fight. I don't think a rude person is going to stand down because I tell him to. But then, I don't mind a fight, and I'm not going to let someone walk all over me when it's not deserved.

True. Some of these people are just nuts and some are bullies. And a bully needs to be stood up to.

This may sound odd, but, I think that is why people are rude. Everything is out of control, they sometimes feel that they are the only ones that bad things are happening too and in order to feel that they have some control of their lives they lash out. That is not to say it is the right thing to do, but, more and more I hear people saying stuff like... "I'm going to stand up for myself", which is fine as long as one can determine what they should be standing against, not some insignificant thing that is of no real consequence. We all just feel the need to have some control of our surroundings, but, sometimes we are so worried about not being taken advantage of that we get all in your face about nothing. There is a lot of pressure out there. If it's not financial, it's social. If it's not that it is from within and the need to claw your way to the top, or to maintain some type of dignity by "not taking any crap from anybody" when in reality we sometimes hurt ourselves by doing so. I blame Rambo!

I know I'm a new member, but I have actually been visiting this site for almost 10 years now, just never signed up.

That being said, I am a CM. I just need to rant about the "quality" of the guests and the "quality" of the magical experience you want when you visit Disney.

Most people on these forums do not fall into the rude guests category (thankfully) but I'm sure many of you have seen them when you visit.

Lately, the guests are horrible. Not in the stupid way, they are always stupid, it's expected. We get a laugh out of the dumb things they say anyway. But more recently, RUDE. Pushing and shoving rude, not washing your kids rude, being unreasonably demanding rude, tearing things apart rude, yelling at CMs rude. These people should be ashamed of themselves. When I go to work I can't tell if I am at a theme park or a zoo. And then, these are the same people who complain about the guest service they are getting at Disney. Well guess what? When you are rude to CMs, they WILL NOT go above and beyond for you. You're lucky if I even answer your question correctly. You need to be nice. We are not your slaves. Don't let your kids run wild. Don't push and cut in front of people. Don't pout and stomp your foot when you don't get your way. This is ridiculous and I fear for the future of society.

I know I'm going to get those comments of "well if you don't like it just quit!" But it's so much more than that. People should be able to act like civilized adults. It's really not that hard. I can't believe that Disney lets people be rude as hell and security and managers just stand there. It is crazy and you are only going to get a worse and worse guest service experience if you continue to act like rabid animals.

That is all.
Thank you for your post. Ever since the Disney app became the way to check on attractions and get fast passes things went downhill. Everyone is looking at their phones. Fewer people talk in line and it feels less friendly.

Rude behavior is pretty prevalent everywhere, both in adults, and consequently in their offspring. The whole attitude that "rules are meant to be broken" or that "rules are for all those peasants, not for me" can be seen in all levels of society. Ask any teacher, arcade worker of anyone who deals with the public on a regular basis.

BTW, thank you CM's for all you do.

I'm afraid it started long before that. It would be great if we could blame it on something that simple, but, it sure didn't help.

Rudest thing I remember? It's actually the only single incident that stuck in my head:
A couple of years ago at the top of Main Street where it joins the hub, a very large woman barreling by on a mobility scooter nearly struck my then probably 8 year old son and had the nerve to scold him for getting in her way.
As if Main Street were an actual street, and she was driving an actual car and my kid stepped off of the curb.
Rather than the reality of it being a crowded pedestrian walkway in a theme park where people - lots of them being little kids far smaller than mine, are walking around, gazing at the sights, and taking pics.
These things are vehicles, what do they weigh? maybe 80lbs.?
Add to that, the weight of the rider - and you have a motorized vehicle, possible several hundred pounds in weight capable of moving at a pretty good clip.

The other thing:
People - I'm talking about families - cutting through cue lines to meet people further up the cue. (supposedly.)
If you didn't join the line with those people, you have no right to their location in line.
cel phones have enabled this, where people on line will call members of their group to come join them up in the line.

This. This makes me so mad! I refuse to cut in line to be with my family because other than the fact that it isn't fair to others who have waited, I cant stand the glares and judgement from other people. It baffles me that others who cut usually tend to have no shame whatsoever when it comes to this. I give them mean eyes and they just don't care.

And the worst part is that they think they are so smart that they got someone to hold a spot in line while they did other things and then they came back to cut and didn't have to wait in line. I just want to be like "You're not a genius. You're just an ***hole."

Yes, its the "we're getting over" mentality. Beating the system.
I can't stand it.
You don't belong with a group of people a mile up the cue simply because you're on vacation with them.
I've never stopped anyone, because I'm a father with little kids in tow, and I don't want to start anything - least of all in front of my kids.
My sons are 14 this year and are quite large.
I don't know, depending on the situation I may not let someone pass who tries to pull this stunt.

On my last visit a couple weeks ago, I was standing in the single rider line at Test Track. There was a lady who was moving up beside me, obviously in an attempt to advance herself in line. I, of course, was maneuvering to block her, when a guy behind me said "Hey, wait a minute - you were BEHIND me." She said something about it being kinda freeform, and people make adjustments, etc. He thought about this for a second, then said "but YOU were behind ME!" She got the message and backed off.

I was all set to say "S'cuse me, ma'am, but I'm gonna go first and then you can go". But the guy behind me did it all for me!

You know what I do sometimes?
Grasp the rails on either side of the cue with my left and right hands.
